The Gibb family emigrated to Australia when the boys were very young. They were 'discovered here and had many local hits before they went back to the U.K.
The Bee Gees have always been my favorite band and this album is the closest I've ever gotten to hear them live in concert. (I was only seven when they did this tour and didn't quite know who they were yet. I later picked up the CD in the early 00's when I was just about to enter high school.) Truly shows how much they were master vocalists and performers.
Fortunate is the person who may have had the opportunity to see them in concert. In my naive youth, I despised them for ridiculous and immature reasons. Later in life, I realized what a poor fool I was. They are one band that can bring out the authentic and tender side of a man.
I saw them in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania in 1979. They were beyond amazing. I was bullied in school for being a Bee Gees fan,but I didnt care. I still wore my concert tshirt and continue to be a fan to this day.
Exactly!! Too much talent for one family! Andy Gibb too. Harmony indistinguishable from one another. A rare and amazing thing happened with them. They were the soundtrack of my life.
I’m hard rock heavy metal guy, but I actually like The Bee Gees and their little brother Andy Gibb who was a solo artist. You can’t not like these guys if you love great singing and harmony. They were just kids when they began in the 60’s. They were originally from England, but moved to Australia as kids. Their family were struggling to make ends meet in Manchester. Their parents sought a better life in Australia. It worked out great for the brothers. It was a sad story for their little brother’s death during the 80’s. Young artist have a hard time struggling with success, at times. He started living the life style a lot of musicians end up in and it can a lot of times come with a price. It happened with Kurt Cobain. Robin Gibb died from colorectal cancer on May 20, 2012 at the age 62. Maurice Gibb died from a twisted colon January 12, 2003 at the age of 53. Barry Gibb is the only brother still alive and the oldest of them all. He’s 76 years old and does have problems with arthritis throughout his body. I guess being 76 can come with problems for people his age.
“Too much talent for one family” haha no doubt. I’m 22 and I Iove their music so much. This song is so tender.. Thank you for your reaction to this song! Enjoyed it
Ken, than you for honoring the Bee Gees and bringing awareness to the young people about how talented and brilliant they were as song writers, musicians, recording artists and live performers. The Bee Gees were amongst some of the greatest entertainers that ever lived and they unfortunately paid a high price for all the amazing music and happiness they gifted upon the world. The Bee Gees demonstrated to all of us how to master the craft of music. God bless you Ken for all the great and inspirational videos .
I love the Beegees. Many people say they didn’t like when they went disco but I seem to like that era best. Barry Gibb has the best falsetto I’ve ever heard.
Eric Swartz...actually they didn't go disco. They were recording a new album when producer Robert Stgwood called the Bee Gee asking for some songs he could put in a low budget film he was making. The Bee Gees gave him some songs from that new album which went in a movie they knew nothing about. So the movie is what got them labeled as a disco band. Its a label they didn't want. The only songs they did that was called disco was the songs they gave to Stigwood before they even heard of disco. ✌
You have to love the Bee Gees They were the masters in so much in my opinion! One of the best band in History! To bad there is only Barry left.. but he sounds still so amazing!!
The early Bee Gees stuff, before they hit the disco era, is some of the most perfect pop songwriting of all time. Thank you, Ken, for showing them the respect they deserve.
The Bee Gees were true masters of their craft. Barry was born in September, 1946 and the twins, December, 1949. Those early hits between 1967 and 1969 were written and recorded when they were so young!! .......1941 New York Mining Disaster, Massachusets, To Love Somebody, World, Words, I've Gotta Get A Message To You, I Started A Joke, First of May and Don't Forget to Remember were all released before Robin and Maurice were out of their teens!!
What can you say about the Bee Gees, their music and vocals were supremely great. They will be forever memorialized by the body of artistic work created.
By far one of my favorite bands in the world ....thanks for sharing. ...ps I was looking for bee gees to sing kereoke to them .and you poped up ....man Ken you are everywhere brother ..I hope all is well God bless you sincerely Luigi
Nobody writes melodies like that anymore! The structure of the song and chord changes are very interesting, you can't fake your way through this tune! Ken, thanks for posting, I hope the gigs are going well.
Love the lyrics, so simple and so meaningful. Artists like this really imortalise their poetry. "Saviour when i fall" "i really need to learn". It's art to me
@@kentamplin can I just second what Hans said ? I would so love to hear you talk about that Vibrato style from Robin and how the group used him especially things like eventually switching to Robin as lead Vocalist for Islands in the Stream when the put their greatest hits together around 2004 or so.
Another Robin lover here! Only that I'm not asking for anything. I listen to my Angel Rob and that's all I need! Hugs there and thank you for loving my Angel Robin
Love your comments..! Right on..! Barry Gibb can never be complimented and praised enough. A uniquely talented writer and singer. A great, caring, good man.
Hohoho.... Mr. Tamplin you really brought my childhood memories back. I turned 50 a few months back and man... the 1970's were truly special and the music made people feel good and go celebrate their dancing!
Throughout the years, I've listened to many great bands and have my favorites, but the Bee Gees will always be #1. They had it all, songwriting, singing, music and lots of charisma. My 2 favorite albums are Main Course and Mr. Natural. I enjoyed your video and you have a new subscriber.
That was great! The Bee Gees are one of my all time favorites. I love Barry Gibb's soft/breathy and vulnerable vocals, they go with his style of songwriting so well. And then how on those long notes he hits the notes first then slowly brings in that smooth vibrato. 👌👌👌
I've loved the Bee Gees since I was a little girl, everything from New York Mining disaster onwards. Writing for Dolly Parton, Celine Dion, Barbra Striesand, Diana Ross. So talented. Best harmonies I've ever heard. No one can beat them.
I love the Bee Gess. They were such great songwriters. My favorite ever is Too Much Heaven, pure perfection. Thank you Ken for showing that a rock guy can appreciate great groups that are... well great.
I literally had to pause the video to collect myself. I don't think I've seen anyone react to the Gibb Brothers before. I'm 27 so their heydey was before my time but I still appreciate them for the masters of songwriting they are. In fact they are one of my favorite groups. When I was younger I got for Christmas a VHS tape set of their One For All concert in Australia, during the One Tour in 1989. As one other person said please do more Bee Gees reactions at some point.
I love The Bee Gees. Barry is awesome but I especially love some of their early songs that Robin sang the lead on. Robin’s voice is beautiful. Great reaction!!!
Oh man I love The Bee Gees! I met all three of them in Miami and they are/were ----> (Robin & Maurice} kind souls, especially Barry. Thank you Ken for reacting to one of their videos. Check out Nights On Broadway and or Fannie (Be Tender) and you'll hear some killer harmonies and high pitches. RIP Maurice and Robin. Till we meet again. ✌😎
I was born a metal head, even though there wasn't such a thing as Metal when I was born. However, the Bee Gee"s harmonies and song writing, plus raw talent had me captivated, even though it wasn't cool and wasn't "hard rock". when I first heard "words" and then "How can you mend a broken heart" . it was official, I loved this band.
How can you mend a broken heart is my favourite Bee Gees song 👍🏻 they were young when they did this song but sang with such maturity like they’d already lived a life and lost .
Another cool video. I love how descriptive you are and your appreciation for various genres of music. And you just seem like a really good person, so that's cool too!
Listening to the Bee Gees thru my Jr and Sr high school days, loved their music!! And, playing guitar in a Judas Priest tribute band in the early 80's the guys in the band would RAZZ and HECKLE the shit out of me. Long live the BROTHERS GIBB!!!!🎸🎶🎵🎼🎤
I feel they had us all singing one of their songs in the 1980's. Great singer/songwriters. So sad to watch them all pass away over time expect for Barry. God bless Barry and may the brothers who have past rest in peace. Thanks for the music.
Took me forever to realize the BeeGees, was the brothers Gibb. I can't hear this, without thinking of Saturday Night Fever. The soundtrack was great. How do they sing so high??? I love their song I Started a Joke. I saw an interview with Barry Gibb where he said that every brother died, he was on the outs with them, when they died. How sad. Awesome band. What gets me with Barry is the interview they did with him talking about all of his brothers and their fame. At one point in the video, the reporter asked him how he felt being the last BeeGee alive. The look on Barry's face said it all. I think he realized that the guy was right and he was the last made him tear up. I grew up with them in the '70s and think they have written some awesome songs. They truly will be missed. Wow, this really put tears in my eyes. Ken, you hit this one right. It sucks getting to the age where all the great bands are going way year after year.
I just can't listen to a BeeGees without starting to tear up, my mother loved them so much all those memories every Friday night sunny 99.1 on the radio be having their 70s playlist and she be jammin to it and watching Saturday day night fever. She was the light in my deepest darkest hour and my savior when i fall. The song (To much heaven) will also always have a special place also cause that was playing on the radio the day one of my good friends passed away in 2004
Ken these guys have the most smooth and unique sound to their voices. The Bee Gees had so many great love songs. Didn't listen to them til UA-cam came out. Love them
I've loved the Bee Gees since I was a teenager. I'm 65 now. They are Timeless. I love your presentation and how you make your viewers feel comfortable. I'm subscribing!
Too funny I’m a giant 80s metal guy but just have total respect for the talent of these guys. Ironically you would think with my love of metal my 1st concert I went to as a kid would be to see a metal band of some sorts but actually it wasn’t, my first concert I went to see was The Bee Gees at MSG with my parents because they were fans. I guess my respect for them stood with me ever since. Great stuff!!!
I've grown up listening to a lot of bands from the 60s onwards. The beegees are one of my favorites. One song that sticks in my mind is I started a joke. I remember my dad (when he had had a few beers) intensely telling me what great song writers they were. Oh take me back to the good old days!
They are one of the best bands in history. No doubt
Kenny Roberts I agree!
So glad they are now being recognized as the legend they are.
Barry is now a Sir Barry Gibb!
Well done, sir.
A lot artists from the BeeGees to Donna Sommer were tarnished with the decline of disco even though they were all incredibly talented
@@popland1977 The Bee Gees moived on from Disco and continued to have hits in the 80s,90s and 2000s
Up there with The Beatles and ABBA, no doubt
The Gibb family emigrated to Australia when the boys were very young. They were 'discovered here and had many local hits before they went back to the U.K.
Gibb Brothers harmonies were unreal. It's like they developed as boys as a single instrument.
