m o l l y exactly! I felt bad for Simon because he was a really great dude and he misinterpreted things between Leah and Nick by mistake. Plus it’s like he says later on he should’ve been the one who chose to come out when he felt ready and how he would do it
m o l l y Exactly! What Simon did might have upset them but why couldn’t they have put themselves in his position for one moment when Martin blackmailed him and then outed him to the entire school. Maybe they had the right to be upset with him because he was their friend and went along with what Martin wanted, but if they wanted to act like they’re better than him in this scene, the least they could have done was have his back and defend him when he was being mocked and ridiculed later in the school cafeteria.
Omg this comment is everything? Like I’ve been blackmailed when I was trying to figure out my sexuality. It’s the worst feeling in the word and you’d do anything to to make it go away. And you can’t tell anyone because you’re scared to death to come out to them if you do. Look back at this clips his friends are total assholes here
It’s very hard to tell if simon’s friends were that selfish, I’m gay and I also know how being gay feels like. how hard it’s to be open, but the thing is that Simon lied, so people still think he was actually straight. And wouldn’t have any suspicions at him, I think Simon should have trusted to his friends in the first place, and just tell em’ that he is gay. But due the fact he was in the closet it blinded him, and didn’t think about what would happen. I guess non of them were actually bad, but I agree that his friends were kinda dramatic tho 😆
@@thatguybutitsactuallyagirl5384 Not really. They demonstrated their true character when they sat by and did nothing as he was getting bullied in the cafeteria. Simon may have screwed up by letting Martin pull some strings but what they did was callous and reflective of their own shallow opinions.

Idk I just thought because he was having trouble coming out and someone posted all that shit about him that they would be a little more supportive but then I see where they are coming from because he lied too them but idk it just made me so pissed off
exactly. who cares how long it took for them to get together that’s not the point, they don’t understand what it’s like. they were absolutely selfish. and in the cafeteria they didn’t even try to get up and defend him like wtf
It really upset me, too. It’s especially weird because the fight was not this extreme in the book (Abby was a lil upset but quickly forgave him and had his back) so I don’t know why they decided to make it this extreme for the movie.
I cried during this scene. I felt bad for Simon cause I know what it feels like to not be understood by friends and my heart just broke for him. He was blackmailed, and when that happens, you really have no choice but to fend for yourself

@@allisonpayan1085 yeah she pisses me off. the least she could have done was support him, but no she's mad that he didn't like her the same way, which he didn't mean to lead her on, since she was dropping HINTS. @@thatguybutitsactuallyagirl5384 that doesn't mean they could just ignore him?? And they victimised themselves too- Simon literally got outed and they just sat there??
@Dari Gabor to be fair, both parties were selfish. Simon was defending his own ass from getting his secrets covered by making a bunch of lies. his friends didn't want anything to do with his messing up because they were included into it.
@@Jomuerudoumandanberarumino wtf. being gay isn’t just a secret. and he was being BLACKMAILED. he was tryna stop himself from being outed, a traumatic thing for lgbt+ people (especially youths). his friends should have stood up for him, because again, HE WAS OUTED.
There is one friendship rule: When your friends need you the most, you forget about little arguments and support your friend. They didn't do it. I felt so sorry for Simon, he deserved better friends.
This was all because of Martin. He told Simon he’d out him if he didn’t get Abby to fall in love with him. And that’s what Simon just told his friends, and they should’ve listened. The fact that he lied to them doesn’t make him the bad guy - Martin was the one using him. Sure, Simon could’ve just chosen to not help Martin, but no, he wanted to protect his deep secret.
how does simon genuinely thinking that leah was in love with nick make him cruel?? leah is one of the most selfish characters in the whole story, in both the book and the movie. it's not simon's fault at ALL that he read her feelings the wrong way.
The thing is, he knew that Nick liked Abby but he kept them apart. Instead, he tried to get Leah and Nick together knowing that Nick didn't feel that way about Leah. That means he knew it wouldn't work between them but he sent them on a date anyway. It was like he was almost using Leah to get Nick out of the picture. That is kinda messed up.
@@shorkelili The thing is, he knows his friend group. We see at the beginning, and at the Halloween party, he knows they're both into each other, and Wingmans for Nick. Even if this ended up not blowing up in his face, he did know it wouldn't have really worked out for anyone involved. But, him doing this was understandable, given the situation.
Eli k it’s a very bittersweet situation and I can understand both parties, Leah and Abby in particular. On the one hand he was being blackmailed, and they SHOULD have been more understanding. But on the other hand he constantly tried pawning Abby off on Martin and regardless of why he did it, it’s still a shit move. Not only that, but he may have thought that Leah liked Nick, but he knew that Nick only wanted to be Abby. Which means that from the moment he set Leah and Nick up on a date, he knew how it would end. It’s messed up, for both of them. I still think they should have stood up for him later on in the movie, but their anger in this scene is pretty justified.
I 100% understand that they have the right to be angry but they went about it the wrong way. They have no clue what it feels like to be exposed for being gay, it's terrible and it feels like everything is crumbling around you, and theyre making it worse. Leah sounded like she was blaming simon for being gay and it wasn't his fault he genuinely believed she was in love with Nick. He was being blackmailed and they didnt seem to understand that.
They didn’t go about anything the wrong way. He hurt them they are allowed to express that. Y’all thinking you can just get a slap on the wrist because you’re gay is insane.

Yeah...Simon tells his “friends” the truth. True friends wouldn’t stand by and watch him get bullied. After watching Love, Victor I was so happy to find out that Simon now has actual friends.
see what i didnt like though was that somewhere in the middle of the second season, simon talked about how he got his friends mad here, so it appears as if it still looks like he thinks hes in the wrong, which he wasnt. these “friends” were a bunch of awful people…
@@r3nny917 yeah. When Simon was there telling them why he did what he did to them, they didn’t listen to him. Sure, he could’ve chosen to not help out Martin, but he didn’t, he did what he could to protect his ideals, his flaws and weaknesses as a gay person. And that’s something that should always come first before your friends.
Ok let me get this straight. Leah got ANGRY at Simon for thinking that she liked nick. She then continued to get angry at him for not liking him back. I know that it can get frustrating for someone you thought liked you back to not like you back but that does not really give her an excuse to get angry at him. His secret of being gay just got out. Did she even take a minute to think about how he feels about this. Being gay isn’t an easy thing. Coming from a bi person, the amount of homophobia you get is just terrible. When he gets to school you can see how every is staring at him almost judgementally. The way the principal treated him after finding out. What Leah did is incredible selfish and rude. I know you would get angry annoyed and sad about your crush not liking you back but PLEASE one of his bigger secrets just got spilled. Go a little easier on him.
She wasn't angry at him for thinking she like Nick or Simon not liking her back. She got angry for him trying to set her up with Nick, think she like Nick, and knowing Nick had feelings for Abby. So Simon knew the relationship wasn't going to work out, with the fact Nick had feelings for someone else, it would leave a very heartbroken Leah. Simon knew this, like imagine if your best friend tries to set you up with someone you like but she/he damn right knows that person you like has no feelings for you what so ever. Like even if Leah didn't have feelings for Nick, but Simon thought she did, it was pretty fuck up move for him to do, since he was in way using Leah's feelings. I do understand Simon was being blackmailed and wasn't ready to come out yet, but in Leah's eyes, she saw it as Simon using her feelings to save his own ass, when Simon could have been honest without coming out, by just saying he was being blackmailed but could say the reason for.
I feel like Abby maybe had a right to be mad cos she's had a rough past But Nick and Leah... Nah they kinda sounded selfish Like the guy was blackmailed
I can understand Leah's situation. She said she understands him being gay. Him trying to set up Leah with Nick, thinking Leah had feelings for him and knowing Nick had feelings for someone else. He knew the relationship wasn't going work out and he was setting Leah up to be heartbroken, in a way Leah saw it as Simon taking advantage of her feelings to save his own ass. Like how would you feel if your best friend try to set you up with someone you like but she/he knows that person who you like doesn't have any feelings for you, in a way your best friend is setting you up for heart break. I can understand he was being blackmailed. He could have been honest without coming out of the closet, by telling his friends that he was being blackmailed and if they could do him a favor instead of using Leah's feelings and pawning Abby. I do understand him feeling he had no other choice. It's a complicated situation but his friends at this scene have every right to be angry or upset with him.
lol all of a sudden it turned into, Leah likes Simon, and then Martin and Nick both like Abby, and Abby liked Nick. Then there was the what, 3 romantic scenes with Simon and Bram?
It’s upsetting cause they clearly don’t understand the fear of being outed. I understand they feel betrayed but they didn’t at all look at it in his point of view
i feel like his friends have a right to be mad but they need to understand, when you have a secret like that you'll do anything to keep it. Like his entire world has just been flipped upside down, and everything came crashing down on him all at once and he didnt have a choice in it. like he really needs their support right now
His friends don’t deserve him, they’re all being so selfish. I mean he was literally being blackmailed. But also how Leah basically blames him for not knowing she liked him. They don’t even care about what he’s going through.
The movie makes me so angry. I love Simon and Bram. Also, some of the speeches and quotes are pretty amazing and his come out to his parents are great. That was pretty much the only part of the movie I liked though. The book was phenomenal. The movie was so bad in comparison. His friends were great in the book and the movie made them suck so bad. They didn’t react perfect in the book but the movie made them so much worse. Nick was supportive and the gay club scene should’ve been in the movie. Also, Leah being in love with Simon was so stupid. Why was that necessary? She was in love with Abby but throughout the book Simon thought she liked Nick. Making her like Simon did her character a massive disservice. Simon had a great friend group in the book but the movie made them awful. Side note, Leah should have been fat. A skinny girl should not have played her. The sisters also should have been there. Alice was great and she was completely cut. Nora was there but she wasn’t the same character. She should’ve been a freshman and a musician. I knew that the movie was going to be different but I didn’t like how different it was. Simon’s friends deserved better. The movie really screwed them up. They were not horrible people.
I know I'm not saying anything different, but I wanted to comment: the friends are absolutely garbage. I cried at this scene, but what really made me cry (it was a painful cry, because I was so pissed) was when they tried to invite him to the carnival later on after the play..like yall left him for dust in the middle of the street after his trust and identity was completely violated and stepped on, and you can only think about yourselves? Like they're so selfish! And it ain't no "oh if it was you in the situation, you'd be mad over all the lies he told" no I'd be pissed FOR him that he went through all of that, and then go and find the shit head who blackmailed him and deck his ass. Like why was their first step not to go kick that kid's ass??????????? "I feel slightly inconvenienced, which is more important than your total humiliation and loneliness, so fuck you" ????? I wish they never made up in the end. The movie should've ended with him being friends with the guys he suspected to be Blue, Ethan, and the girl who hangs out with Ethan. Like people he wasn't even close with asked if he was okay. The goddamn vice principal, who was extremely annoying, asked if he was okay. His FRIENDS, one of which he was friends with for 13 FUCKING YEARS, DIDN'T EVEN ASK HOW HE WAS DOING, OR IF HE WAS OKAY, OR IF HE NEEDED A HUG OR ANYTHING. SHE JUST BLEW HIM OFF! JUST LIKE THAT! FUCK THOSE FRIENDS.
I hate this part. All of Simon's friends are angry at him for the lying but they all ignored the part where he says he had to do it because he was being blackmailed. In a time when their friend has their biggest secret revealed without their blessing, they ABANDONED him. LGBTQIA+ people already deal with a lot of stuff inside especially at the time of coming out or realizing one's true self so I find it sad that they didn't consider what they're sudden ghosting might do to Simon's emotional and mental well being. In short... they were d*cks -_-
Simon literally revealed that he had been being blackmailed for MONTHS with a secret that was no one's business but his own. Outing in many cases is traumatic mentally because you aren't ready to tell people. That makes what his friends are mad about seem really insignificant.
His freinds are complete trash. As someone who was closeted for many years and then outed to my family, swim team, and entire school, it is the worst feeling in the entire world.
I do understand why Leah was pissed, Simon thought she was in love with Nick. Simon tried to set them up when he was 100% sure that Nick had no feelings for Leah, which is pretty fuck up in Simon's part since he was setting Leah up to get her heart broken and Leah may have seen Simon taking advantage of her feelings instead when he could have been honest with her, without coming out. Just put yourself in Leah's situation if your best friend tries to set you up with the person you liked, when your best friend knows that person you like has no feelings for you and likes someone else, yet your best friend still makes you believe that he/she likes you back and you have shot with him. Then you found out the truth, I'm sure you would have been hurt too.
It’s frustrating because in the book, his friends are upset, but they’re understanding. They just changed it in the movie, to make it seem his world was all crumbling at once.
I came here to see what people thought of this scene because I was really disappointed how his friends didn’t understand the situation he was in, blackmailing is literally the worst
no one took a second to look at his situation, they were just thinking about themselves. What he did was bad? Yes. But he only did it because he was forced to do it. They're all like "big deal that you're gay", as if his concerns on being outed are not valid and no reason to interfere with their lives.
This scene made me really mad. I understand them being upset and hurt. But they completely left him after he’d just been outed. It was such a terrible thing to do
Their friend are all str8..they never know how is his feelings..frankly..if I’m one of his besties I wouldn’t let him go through this all alone..I’ll be there with him..I’m speechless when they does that to him..felt it in my heart
So everything he literally just told them just went in one ear and out the other. He literally just said he was getting blackmailed by Martin so he had to keep them apart so he wouldn't get outed and all they were worried about was themselves.. and don't even get me started on the girl who had a crush on him. So fucking what he lied to you. He's gay. Get over yourself.
Simon was also being selfish honestly. Playing with their feelings so that martin wont publicly announce it. He was lying to his friends when he could've just told them the truth.
@@Jomuerudoumandanberarumino I understand them being mad but I don't think it's selfish not wanting to be outed and bullied for the rest of highschool or possibly getting hurt for being outed.
2:41 Okay but let’s talk about this mentality. Even if Simon wasn’t gay he doesn’t owe you a relationship nor does he have to like you back. I (16f) have been reject by a guy ONE TIME. He wasn’t gay, he didn’t have a girlfriend, he didn’t have strict parents, he was just simply not interested me and he a had the right too! This was the only time I was rejected so I took the L and move on. I don’t get her problem, she’s a fucking brat.
It just feels so weird that they literally find out he got blackmailed and he was outed and they still don’t give a sh*t. Like I can get them being a little upset but like...... ugh there are soooo many things they did/said that I hated so much
Simon's friends were honestly the worst part of this movie and made it hard to enjoy after this point! I HATED how insensitive they were about what Simon was going through and never stood up for him. Coming out is one of the most difficult things any person can do. If I were Simon, I would have just dropped them as friends. His little sister was WAY more supportive.
Leah made me a bit mad when i first read the book cause if i remember correctly she was mad at Simon for telling Abby first and not her but other then that i liked their characters
Coming out or being outed by others is hard. Friends, real friends are what help you through this kind of stuff. He was being blackmailed over scandalous hormone bullshit and they still mad at him. And that girl has the nerve to feel sorry for herself. What kind of best friend doesn't realize that her crush is gay and being harassed, blackmailed, and catfished all over the internet and damn near scarred for life?! If I were Simon, I'd stop feeling guilty and cut those bitches off from my life permanently
I understand this kind of behaviour coming from Nick, but I honestly expected better from Leah and Abby seeing as they know the fear of being outed. Don't get me wrong, I still don't agree with any of them or their actions.
Well to be fair this movie came out before Becky Albertalli chose to make them both Bisexual, so canonically in the movies, at least until further notice, they’re both straight. And honestly I still felt bad for Leah. Simon knew, at least he thought he knew, that Leah was in love with Nick but he also KNEW that Nick did not like her back. So he set them up on a relationship to basically last long enough to get Abby to like Martin and take Abby off the picture for Nick. It was an extremely shitty move and even though I can identify with Simon and I think they still should have apologized or at the very least stand up for him in the cafeteria, I can understand where they are coming from.
Simon: 'He was using that for months to blackmail me!' The dude: 'What does that have to do with us, Simon?' - yeah, so much for friendship, right? Laughable. This movie is perfect...almost, except the friends, sadly.
I love this movie and this scene is very beautiful, very emotional. I love this great actor who is Nick Robinson because he makes us feel the pain that his character is going through. Wow! How I rooted for Simon. Kisses from Brazil.
I felt so bad for Simon in this being Blackmailed and he was gay and afraid to tell anyone who he really was till the end sometimes you just need to be friend to to your self. Great movie. One of the best
this scene upset me so much. he just got OUTED to the ENTIRE SCHOOL. yes he lied, but he was being blackmailed for months. he wasn’t ready to come out. that’s why he kept it secret for so long and why he went along with martin blackmailing him. at this point in the movie he is his most vulnerable and he needed support from his friends. but instead they ditched him and left him alone on his first day back to school after being outed. the worst part tho is leah basically blaming him for being gay... like we get it ur in love with him but he can’t help that he’s gay tf???? idk this scene just angers me so much because they ditched him at a time when he needed them most.
I need to make another comment because I'm not finished ranting, because GOD the friends REALLY PISSED ME OFF. Leah, who was his friend for 13 fucking years, just turned her back on him. 13 years!?! That's more than half their lives! And because he suggested she go with him to dinner, she's pissed enough to leave him standing in the middle of the street after one of the worst days in his life, and then managed to make the whole situation about her?! AND THEN THE FUCKING LUNCH ROOM SCENE!?!?! BRO! YOU'RE HIS BEST FRIEND AND YOU JUST STOOD BY AND WATCHED HIM GET HUMILIATED AND DISRESPECTED?!!? YOU'RE AN AWFUL FRIEND. I know it's just a movie, but jesus fucking christ, this really got to me. I felt horrible not being able to step in and say somethin---yes I know it's not real but this shit happens in people's lives forreal and for me to see it depicted on tv..like his own FRIENDS?! You just turned on him like it was nothing?! HOW?!?!?!
“ i can /deal with/ you being gay, si” she makes it sound like some hinderance to their friendship, it isn’t something you “deal with” it’s something you accept and support someone for. wtf. also in the book she’s bi, and reacted in a somewhat similar way? (it’s been a while since i’ve read it) and i feel like she could’ve seen what he was going through but instead she isolated him with the rest of their friends, especially in the cafeteria scene.
Damn they really stood outside waiting for Simon then deny a ride to school. Simon is going through so much and they are too worried about themselves sheesh
Omg, his friends are so selfish! I know that this is not real, but i do know that even though it's just T.V does not mean that people that you call 'your friends' should be so unforgiving and shallow. Thank you for pressing read more, your a talented and caring person, don't let mean people and hate spread!
going back to rewatch this movie, this scene confuses me cause they tried to blame Simon when he was literally being blackmailed? Worst friends ever lmao
Ok yeah I’d be mad too if one of my best friends lied to me, but y’all he was being blackmailed... like you’d think they wouldn’t be so selfish and try to help their friend who just got one of his biggest secrets exposed to the entire school and maybe try to understand his situation better, not just abandon him when he needed them most. Trash friends
I was beyond done with those ‘Friends’, they watched him get bullied and waited until the end to forgive him for something he was blackmailed to do. Screw them, making him being outed at school, about THEM. Drop those friends. Every single one of them.
1:30 was kinda sad because she did share her home life issues with him, I could see how she felt betrayed that he was screwing with her love life while it happend but honestly they could all be a bit more understanding.
The entire reason why his friends are absolutely terrible: Leah: so Simon was genuinely trying to help Leah by setting her up on a date, and she finds that cruel??? He thought she liked him and then got mad bc she didn’t. Not to mention she was angry and never stood up to Simon all bc he didn’t like her back. I just wonder why she thinks he’s cruel for trying to help her on a date when he thought she liked him. She called Simon insanely stupid but she’s really stupid and selfish tbh, there were signs that you liked him correct? Well there were also signs he was gay. And trying to help you on a date, does NOT make him cruel. Not standing up to him when he needed it most and practically blaming him for being gay, is cruel. Jack+Amy: these two are just straight up terrible. Let’s start from the very beginning, Simon was emailing a guy bc he knew he could finally show his true self, but only on emails. Soon Martin found those emails, screenshot’d them, and thought he would use them to his advantage. When Simon found out about the screenshots he knew he had to whatever he could to stay in the closet, probably a safe spot for Simon along with the emails. Martin then says that in order for Simon to stay in his closet, he must find a way to set up a date with him and Abby..Of course Abby doesn’t like Martin so that would be a challenge..When Abby and Jack found out he was gay and they got together, they figured that everything was Simons fault. They didn’t care about him getting blackmailed, they didn’t care Simon just got outed, and they didn’t even care that honestly Martin is to blame for everything. They just stood there and took everything out on Simon. True friends don’t do that. And what they say too just pisses me off “we got to thinking and we’re wondering why it took so long” like is that all you care about? That you didn’t get to be together right away? Of course Simon couldn’t let you be together because he was getting blackmailed! Do they not know what blackmailing is? Because that would be the only excuse to acting the way they did. All: that morning at school when everyone was staring at Simon and what happened at the cafeteria, they did absolutely nothing. Simon made their day a little sucky and they just watched as homophobia is filling Simons day. It pisses me off how what Simon is going through is just so much worst than whatever is happening to them, and they still act like Simon is the bad guy. I mean to Christ sakes he didn’t kill your dam family members. Those are the reasons why his friends suck, there
She thought it was cruel bc he thought Leah liked Nick but he knew Nick didn't like her and actually liked Abby but still try to set them up, which was setting Leah up for heart break, how would you feel if your best friend try to set you up with someone you liked when he/she 100% sure knew that the person you liked doesn't like you back but has feelings for someone else.
And I was supposed to feel bad for his friends...? I mean, I get why Abby is upset(doesn't mean I support her way of telling it to Simon) but that's it Why did he have to be the villain of their friends' story? I genuinely don't understand He very clearly explained that he was blackmailed and Nick just straight up asks about what's that got to do with them Bro are you seriously that dumb? I felt SO bad for Simon. He was rejected by his friends when he needed them the most. Also he never got a proper apology from any of them...?
Playing devil's advocate, I can kind of understand his friends' reactions. Imagine if your best friend didn't come to you with a problem. Naturally it would have changed the storyline, but imagine if Simon had at least talked to Abby - "Hey Abby, I have a problem, and since I told you I'm gay, I need help. Martin made screenshots of my emails with this guy I've been communicating with, and he's threatening to out me if I don't set him up with you." OK, so, on the flip side, Simon was terrified about coming out at all - he's said that to Blue in a way. The threat of losing everyone is terrifying - I know...I've been there. So give the friends a break - they were hurt because Simon didn't trust them enough to talk to them "I can handle you being gay, Si..." Would he have known Nick, the jock, would have been ok with it? Of course, there's ways to find that out.
he was being blackmailed and his friends are still mad?? y’all wtf
m o l l y exactly! I felt bad for Simon because he was a really great dude and he misinterpreted things between Leah and Nick by mistake. Plus it’s like he says later on he should’ve been the one who chose to come out when he felt ready and how he would do it

Exactly!

Sure, Simon could’ve just chosen to not help Martin, but no, he wanted to protect his deep secret.
totally agree. A really good friend knows when his friend is having a horrible time.
how does simon genuinely thinking that leah was in love with nick make him cruel?? leah is one of the most selfish characters in the whole story, in both the book and the movie. it's not simon's fault at ALL that he read her feelings the wrong way.
I'm still wondering how she got a sequel after her.
@@nabeelsyed7770 he had no other choice. He was being BLACKMAILED and wanted everyone to have a happy outcome

Simon: I'm being blackmailed and had no choice.
Friends: What's that got to do with me?
Friends: oh Simon made my day a little sucky? Let’s act like he killed our family members

@@niaj9341 It's a reference to Katherine Langford's character from "Knives Out".
His friends selfish as hell what did she want him to out himself just for her
Ok let me get this straight.
@@sailorsister211 TL;DR Simon manipulated all of his friends to cover his own ass.
Like he literally made their day a little sucky and that all he didn’t his friend are so terrible
It's also very painful for a straight person to fall for a gay person, knowing they can never be with them
I feel like Abby maybe had a right to be mad cos she's had a rough past
But Nick and Leah...
Nah they kinda sounded selfish
Like the guy was blackmailed

I'd tell those "friends" to kiss me where the sun doesn't shine.
Simon’s friends and Andy’s friends in Devil Wears Prada truly competes as the worst friends in film history lol
Leah literally has no reason to be mad at Simon. And Abby is Reaching.
Not gonna lie, I hated his friends in this scene. Like seriously, the guy was being blackmailed, give him a break.
Friends more likely understand and accept you if they really know who you are and what you are. But in the end it's just you yourself
This scene broke my heart . I was devastated.
I absolutely HATE his “friends”
It's so weird to see Simon being all grown up and mature in Love, Victor.
It’s frustrating because in the book, his friends are upset, but they’re understanding. They just changed it in the movie, to make it seem his world was all crumbling at once.
I watched this scene and thought to myself
"Uh yeah, did you missed the part where he said he was BLACKMAILED?!!!"
The book is sooooo much better
It really sounds like Leah is blaming Simon for being gay! 😭😭😭
Dis anyone else thought simon was from ready player one but it turns out he's not
His friends piss me off man. They’re not real friends.
I feel like Abby has a right to be mad at Simon, but Leah should not even be speaking, she’s worse than Abby.
This scene made me really mad. I understand them being upset and hurt. But they completely left him after he’d just been outed. It was such a terrible thing to do

He literally just said he was getting blackmailed by Martin so he had to keep them apart so he wouldn't get outed and all they were worried about was themselves.. and don't even get me started on the girl who had a crush on him. So fucking what he lied to you. He's gay. Get over yourself.

Simon's friends were honestly the worst part of this movie and made it hard to enjoy after this point! I HATED how insensitive they were about what Simon was going through and never stood up for him.
He could’ve overdosed and it would’ve been partly their faults.
They are only thinking about how they feel but they aren’t even putting themselves into simon’s shoes. They are so selfish and I can’t believe them
I understand this kind of behaviour coming from Nick, but I honestly expected better from Leah and Abby seeing as they know the fear of being outed.
Simon: 'He was using that for months to blackmail me!'
The dude: 'What does that have to do with us, Simon?' - yeah, so much for friendship, right? Laughable.
This movie is perfect...almost, except the friends, sadly.

I felt so bad for Simon in this being Blackmailed and he was gay and afraid to tell anyone who he really was till the end sometimes you just need to be friend to to your self. Great movie. One of the best
this scene upset me so much. he just got OUTED to the ENTIRE SCHOOL. yes he lied, but he was being blackmailed for months. he wasn’t ready to come out. that’s why he kept it secret for so long and why he went along with martin blackmailing him. at this point in the movie he is his most vulnerable and he needed support from his friends. but instead they ditched him and left him alone on his first day back to school after being outed. the worst part tho is leah basically blaming him
for being gay... like we get it ur in love with him but he can’t help that he’s gay tf???? idk this scene just angers me so much because they ditched him at a time when he needed them most.

Simon's friends are mad at Simon for the things that he lied but Simon tells the truth.
Nick Robinson is so nice actor man
As soon as he said that Martin would out him, they should have known that's a huge red flag in the LGBT community. You never out someone else. Ever.
The entire reason why his friends are absolutely terrible:
Leah: so Simon was genuinely trying to help Leah by setting her up on a date, and she finds that cruel???
