I just learned how to make this tonight. So far I made three of them. Thank you for the great tutorial and I will continue to make more of them for the homeless.
I'm enjoying this series, too. I prefer this method to make the soap saver as opposed to making it in the round. This is easier and simple to customize to bar soap size. Thank you.
I agree with you. I do like both methods though. It really depends on personal preference. She should design some soap savers in the round too. I think that would be cool. This other method is certainly an easier alternative if you want to customize it to a bar of soap that is bigger than your standard one. I bet she could come up with all sorts of different designs for soap savers using both the method used here and crocheting them in the round. Jennifer never ceases to amaze me.
Oh, yes. I agree. This entire collection would make a great gift. I've made several soap savers and give them out as gifts. My friends and family love them.
Great tutorial and beautiful soap saver! Thank you so much for doing this whole spa collection. I came up on it when I was looking for something to make my sister-in-law for her 50th birthday. I'm sure she's going to love it when I give her a spa basket with all these lovely crocheted and useful items!
Oh yes! That's what I was thinking too. This entire series would be perfect for the gift-giving season, or any time you want to give someone a special gift, for that matter. Giving handmade gifts shows how much you care about other people.
I watched this again and followed along a bit just to practice. I used a premier just cotton yarn that is splitty for my practice piece and after the first row, I was on auto pilot. I believe I can totally do this!!!
I am pretty sure that I am going to be making 4 sets of these for gifts this year for Christmas this year. All themed to either favorite colors or favorite thing. My sister is obsessed with Harry Potter right now, so I am making her Slytherin themed because she was sorted into Slytherin. =D I'm super excited, I've made two items from this and I'm so excited to keep going! I could crochet all day!!!
Jennifer, would you consider designing a few soap saver patterns that are done in the round? I would love to see a design like that. The patterns you come up with are fantastic. This soap saver is really nice, and I love the Spa Series. I would love to see more spa-themed patterns in the future. I really love all your tutorials.
This looks very pretty and I'm inspired to try it out. I've never used soap savers before. Do you remove the soap from the pouch when you've finished washing / bathing or do you leave it in? I would imagine that, if you left the soap in, the whole thing would get a bit mushy.
It's like a bar of soap and a washcloth all in one. You put the bar of soap inside, pull the loop on the soap saver to close it, get it wet as if you were using a washcloth, and then start scrubbing your bod with the whole thing. It's really gentle on your skin and exfoliating too.
How do you keep the pattern from getting all stretched out? My first row is terrible compared to yours. Yours is compact while mine has gaps. Same yarn and hook size. Help!
