My mama used a similar pattern to make a case for my flip phone. She added a short chain, loop and button to keep the phone in the case. She added a necklace length of chain so that I could wear it around my neck when I wore clothing without pockets. I've since made a larger one for my smartphone.
About 2 rounds before I finish off, halfway point of a side I do a chain 2 and skip 2 stitches, then finish the round and crochet 2 singles into that chain 2 when I get back to it. Then do a short chain loop at the halfway point of the opposite side. Then the chain loop sticks through the small slit hole that chain 2 left. It helps hold it closed and gives something to use as a hanging loop between showers. Not sure that made sense but I have made hundreds of these and added the first bar of soap. We donate them to homeless shelters and pack them in the shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child that Samaritans Purse does every year.
I remember about a year ago, you also made a felted soap sack. You are so talented and helpful for your yarny community. Thank you Crystal have a great day.
Love this tutorial, Crystal. This is a perfect for my younger children to not only practice their crocheting, but they can also use these to make their very own gifts! We will have to adjust the pattern a little as we make our own soap and it tends to be more square, but this is going to be a great mommy/daughter time! Thank you!!
This is sooo cute! A project I will love doing! Makes a perfect housewarming gift along with similar items! Thanks Crystal for sharing this great tutorial with us! Stay safe and much love to you and the BOD fam! 💕🤗💕
I just got some cotton yarn for this project. Then onto matching wash cloths. I would have never used cotton in I hadn't found this tutorial. Thanks for helping me expand my crochet abilities!
Thank you Crystal for putting the size of your swatch and ounces used, I'm excited. That's the type of info I need in order to know how much yarn I'll need. I'm not good at knowing the amount of yarn for an afghan. Thank you, thank you, thank you!! 😅😅😅
Hi Crystal. These will be perfect for house warming gifts along with wash clothes, pot holders and such. And seeing as I know someone who is moving next month she will be getting some awesome gifts. Thank you so much
This is a great quick project. You can make one for each member of your family. Great project for people who do craft fairs too. Thank you for sharing Crystal. 💜🙏🏻
I was watching this the other day because I’m making soap savers for a campaign through Crochet with Tiffany. UA-cam must have alerted you lol 😂thank you!!!!
I love this idea for adding that "soap sliver" to a new bar lol. I made something similar x2 for my little hand warmers that I use when the arthritis flares up😊 Be well 🦋
These could be great stocking stuffers! I understand better about crocheting a basket from this tutorial also. The secret must be the stitch marker which I need to incorporate in my work more!
My mother used to make this and a back washer. Unfortunately I don't have any of her soap pockets but I have the back washer she made my husband. He loved it. It just hangs in the shower he used.
I will figure a size to fit my new bar… and a bit of my last bar, to be able to not waste the little bits. Great idea & right choice of stitch texture. I WILL make time to make a few of these…. Heck. Would make cute Christmas presents/stocking stuffers too! I started to skip this tutorial but now I’m thinking it has bumped the leader of the “next project” list….
I started trying to make these using my own thoughts 😅 Your pattern is so much better! You’re tutorials are so helpful.. Thank you ☀️ I thought these would be great to donate to a shelter 🤔
Hey crystal I just wanna start off by saying I love all of your tutorials. I've grown so much as a crocheter because of your videos. Can we sell the soap sacks from your tutorial . If not then it's totally fine and I understand
I made something similar to this as a cover for my cold gel packs. I get bouts of severe lower back pain for which I need to apply a cold pack. The cover buffers the freezer shock against my skin.
This is an easy pattern to follow. It comes together quickly. Thank you Crystal for sharing.
An oldie, but a goodie!! Thx, Crystal! 😊👍🧶

I think you're reading my mind! 😂 I was just thinking last night of making some of these. Ty Crystal! 🎉🎉🎉
😮I'm gonna give this a try. Thanks Crystal! I tried to make one before and it didn't work. I was using that scrubby thing from hobby lobby. 🤔
I made something similar to this as a cover for my cold gel packs. I get bouts of severe lower back pain for which I need to apply a cold pack. The cover buffers the freezer shock against my skin.
