  • The 2023 Ram 1500 TRX is a beast -- and so, in this video, Nick and Yvan knew it HAD to have our glossiest ceramic coating. But if you really want paint to pop, you polish first. This step also ensures you've got clean paint -- which means optimal adhesion and durability for the coating. What did we use to polish? I'm glad you asked....

    Dude, ive been shopping all over watching all sorts of videos but this is the only channel thay i, as a mechanical engineer, and all the knowledge i have about materials engineering, can get behind. I don't know where you source your stuff, but if its as diligent as the content you create... I'm happy taking that chance.
    Gonna place an order, look for Stefan 🤗

    Thankfully DIY detailing products are now available in the UK. I thoroughly enjoyed using Gold standard polish with the finishing pad on my daughters 8 year old white clio, which by the end of the process looked like new. I also used an old orbital sander and I swear it made a real difference in terms of gloss.
    Like Detailers all over the world who just need to try the latest, coolest product, I can’t wait to use my existing rinseless wash so I can use DIY Detail rinseless wash. 😂

    How much you have both done in so little time with the DIY Detail products and brand is incredible. I did paint correction on a Mercedes GL450 (finicky black paint) and the Gold standard was absolutely perfect. I used very little product and it worked flawlessly. I have spent years exclusively using 3D One and 3D Speed, I find myself going for the gold standard more now...awesome!

    I can remember one top tip to make low tack masking tape even lower for any sensitive areas was to stick it on your T-Shirt or hoodie first and the fluff will stick to it making it even less tacky
    Also since we’ve only recently got your products in the Uk, used incredible suds and it’s very good in a foam cannon. But the stand out so far is the rinseless wash, noticed some streaking marks on the lower panels of a greasy nature using a competitor product, Rinseless wash must have had the power to cut through whatever it was and smells amazing too

    My go to coating has been Gyeon Mohs Evo. I love everything about it! But I will definitely need to try this DIY 5 years!! I LOVE the fact that you can drive in the rain after only 1 hour! (May not be ideal but doable) this is a game changer to me! My question is: with the use of your coating applicator, how much is needed to coat a normal size vehicle? Can you do 2 vehicles with 30ml?! Are the 3-5 and 8 the same when it comes to consumption? Is it in you plans to offer 50ml bottles? BIG THANKS!

    Do you prefer the milwaukee cordless rotary more than a corded one? Do you still prefer a 6" pad over a 5" pad on most occasions?
    Is it beneficial to use a higher nap/plush towel for the secondary wipe/ leveling of the coating vs a pearl weave for both? I've always used a pearl weave for the initial leveling but I can't tell much of a difference between the 2 for the second wipe. Just wondering if the plush towel is beneficial due to the extra thickness to reduce the chance of pressure points. Thanks.

    • @diydetailofficial

      Corded with a 6 inch pad is still preferable. The second towel can be whatever you want, it’s only for insurance.

    Are you still going to get a glossier finish using the jewlling pad and a DA polisher versus using the yellow pad and a DA? I have a Porter Cable DA but no rotary. Is there another tool you can use as a rotary, similar to using a sander for a DA? Will a drill work, or is it too fast?

    But unfortunately I will need to use my car to take it on a short road trip (600 miles round trip) and I know I’m going to get bugs on the front for sure (after about 18 hours of curing) what should I do?

    • @diydetailofficial
      @diydetailofficial  Рік тому +1

      Yellow waffle pad will get you a little more cut and still finish great. So if you think you’re more likely to want some correction or cut (and finish, in 1 pad) you’re great with yellow. However, for that last boost of gloss… the jeweling pad works awesome on a DA as well

    When wanting to be super meticulous and take the best care of your car you can, is it safer (less likely to induce micro marring) to dry a ceramic coated vehicle like this after diy rinseless wash with a quality microfiber towel or use a leaf blower to dry it? Touching the vehicle as little as possible seems the safest, but the leaf blower seems like it would blow dust and dirt at it.

    • @diydetailofficial
      @diydetailofficial  Рік тому +1

      Master blaster is nice too because it’s filtered air. Then you can mop up the drips after with some Rinseless Wash as a drying aid. Just use common sense, and yes as little touching of vehicle with a towel is best 👍

      Correct, the first 3-4 days it’s because of the surfactants. Day 4-7 it’s because of pressure used during washing car scar the coating.

      Hi this actually happened to me as well using the DIY gold standard polish and yellow foam pad. I tried DIY rinseless, DIY panel prep and all clean to get the staining out. Those items did not work, so I ended using Gtechniq C4 trim restore on the lower trim and rear bumper to restore the trim. C4 took care of the staining. I figured it was user error on my end. I used the GS Polish and yellow pad on the trim near my windows and it did not stain. The only difference is I waited to do the lowers and rear bumper at the very end, by then the pad had been dunked in rinseless and spun out many times, and even though the pad didn’t look super dirty, it may have absorbed too much polish, rinseless and some dirt. For my case, I think I should have completely changed pads.
