Thanks for the update!
You’re welcome
Keav for the win!
I’m glad you enjoyed !
DIY is stout!
Especially that 8 year makes washing my car so easy. Beads like crazy.
Happy Birthday buddy! I was considering offering all of the DIY coatings to my customers but I’m having a hard time justifying the 3 year after this video. I know you have put it through the ringer but I want to be confident in the coatings we offer and I can only imagine the type of abuse some of my customers will put it through which is another big factor for me.
It’s doing well on my wife’s car, but it gets touched once a week and is garaged most of the time. No winter salts either. I thought it would do better than this though.
Great update dude! Cool to see the impact a year of constant washing will do.
Thanks!
you had me at rinseless wash
I knew it would.
Happy birthday keav!
Thank You!
I'm glad you made this update! I too was having issues with the 3 year. A vehicle I coated with it 3 months ago came in yesterday for a maintenance wash and the whole coating was slow sheeting. Spoke to some friends of mine and they too have had issues with it degrading prematurely as well. The 8 year that I installed 7 months ago still looks like day 1 though!
8 year is doing well on my car as well after a year. Garaged mostly though and only washed once a week and rarely an opportunity for the coating to get clogged so a perfect case scenario for durability. Yvan does say after a decon leave in the sun for the day if it’s not working well. “The chemical decontamination process lightly scars the surface, the sun will close it back up again. Once you bring it in, do a quick DIY Detail Rinse Less Wash, use some DIY Detail Water Spot Remover, no agitation, dwell a few mins rinse, then check again” Now this did not help my 3 year, but it made the 5 and 8 to me even better than they were.
@CarsWithKeav Good to know! Thanks for that info Keav!!
Love that test hood stand.
It’s awesome, best investment I have made.
Happy Birthday! Interesting looking great! DIY Detail 💪 nice tip with the solo sprayer head! I didn’t know that would fit on my bottles. Ty.
Thank You! Yeah the solo sprayer head works awesome on bottles, but just need to make sure you be careful because you can waste product pretty quick it puts out a good bit of flow.
Currently out of stock on Amazon.
I had the DIY stack (8 year + 3 year) on my Tesla Model Y for 5 months now. It still performs very well but then again I park my car in the garage everyday. The installation is simple as it can get.
I have heard nothing but good things about the 8/3 stack.
Has it been a year already, went so fast. Nice update video. I haven't gone the level of ceramic coatings yet, but it's good to know how these products hold up.
Time flies when your having fun.
Thanks for the update Keav. The Gyeon Mohs coating I have on my car is nearing the end of its lifespan and I've ordered the DIY Detail five-year coating to replace the Mohs. It looks amazing.
It’s a great coating gave the bottle to a friend and it’s amazing on his Acura. The ease of install is icing in the cake as well.
You were at a loss of words for this video 🤣😂 Thank you for the update. I wonder how the stack is? Have a great week!
I hear the stack is good, but I’m not big on doing multiple coats so probably won’t test it. I’ll be trying the new c6 Hydro Lite next.
Nice!!!
Thx
Loving the videos man!!!
What’s the update on the Kranzle pressure washer video tho?!?!?!?
Was delivered yesterday. Hope to film the video this weekend. So maybe Thursday next week or the following Monday I’ll have it released.
Got the 5 year on the wife's car but might have to apply c6
5 year is a great coating as well.
That’s a lot of washes on that hood, thank you for doing the work .
You’re welcome
I applied the 3 year to my truck about a couple weeks ago I hope it holds up . I noticed on the lower panel on the door it seems to sheet more then bead. I did purchase the ceramic gloss so hopefully that keeps it going.
Depending on the road grime it can lose the evading. Maintenance wash usually helps, but it’s only been a few weeks. Ceramic gloss will get the Hydrophobics back for sure.
Internet Keav back at it again 🤣
You know it! 🤣
Thanks for taking the time for these videos. Much appreciated. Quick question: Can you put either of these ceramics on top of glaze? I love the way glaze makes black vehicles pop. If ceramics can make the glaze last longer that would be awesome. Thanks
Coating first as a base, glaze over it
Thanks for answering that question I have bo experience with glaze to answer that.
Great video....did you use the Adhesion Promoter Polish? Don't recall if you said it. Let me know. Not sure if it's required but curious.
No, at the time the APP polish was not even available or talked about. Just a decon wash, polish with gold standard and panel prep.
@@CarsWithKeav The 8 years seems great! Do you think it's worth to go with their Hydro Lite being it's double to the price?
@@talkingwithcars I don’t really, I wouldn’t have bought it if it wasn’t given to me. 8 year is on my show car and I’m not changing it.
That 3-year is not performing as well as I expected given DIY quality and realistic expectations. However all the longer formula's compared well but key is the concentration of the ceramic levels, often longer equates to stronger resistance to chemicals and gloss second.
That is the main attribute to the 8 year is the chemical resistance. Everybody is saying the 5 year on their car is holding up real well. Mixed bag on the 3 year I’m sure the coating is still there just not at it’s optimum anymore.
I really hate to say this because I do like DIY Detail products, and have had zero issues with everything I've purchased, but for that 3-year coating to react like that (even though you've washed that hood multiple times), again just from my pov, that hood has been kept indoors and out of the outdoor elements. A wax or sealant and all those daily washings and abuse I would understand. In no way am I speaking negatively, but I would give the 3-year coating a hard pass, and give the 5-year and 8-year coatings a hell yeah. I have yet to try their coatings. I did try to buy the 5-year when they had a short-term sale during the 2023 holidays when buying the 5-year coating you also received the 3-year at no charge (I think). This didn't happen only because the website had an issue, or the product was sold out. Again, DIY Detail products are great. Thank you for another great review. Updates are key to good products. Maybe the 3-year requires two coats?
It’s possible it failed that early well the attributes failed you still got to polish it off. The only reason my conclusion is not fully that way is I have that coating on my wifes car and it is holding up fine for the same timeframe.
What product are you using for tires and wheels? Wondering if it'll hold up to high pH
P&S brake buster 5 to 1
When will you be doing that for DIY Detail Rinseless v2?
Didn’t even know a V2 was coming out I’m not exactly the guy you send those samples to. 🤣
@CarsWithKeav I have used the 8 year and 3 year besides using it as a stack, and they have been awesome. They should definitely send it to you too in order to compare and do your tests
Any thoughts on the DIY stacks?
I hear they are doing really well was going to try that next, but the next is C6 Hydro Lite which that kind of performance in a single application and they say is even glossier and more hydrophobic. Those nano diamonds helps with the water spot ting as well so the graphene isn’t needed.
Wait! Wth kinda sorcery was that sprayer in the water spot remover
Just the top part of a solo sprayer. This one amzn.to/3ycehU1 They work really good great misting and battery lasts forever.
I feel like these coatings (as nice as they are to use) are severely overstated for durability.
Numbers is all marketing. Especially Americans you have to say on their somewhere how long it lasts or they won’t buy it. We are our own demise when it comes to that.
Sad to see the 3 year barely make a year.
I mean one year in length, but 3 years of abuse. I still thought the hydrophobics would hold up better though it’s still their, but the beading is gone for sure.
@@CarsWithKeav agreed. Although its been in a controlled environment and not seen the abrasion from road salt and sand and wind and sun. I would think in your environment and with all the washing keeping the coating from getting clogged it would last way longer.
@@jfarm_1311 I don’t think it has that abrasion resistance the other two coatings have. Agreed on the controlled environment which is why the next coating going on is going to get left outside a lot more. Not much road salt in the south so I couldn’t replicate that anyways or the sand.
Regretting putting the 3 on my car.
It’s on my wife’s car at the moment and doing really well. I think it doesn’t have the chemical resistance the other two have with the constant washing I’m doing to the hood.
Doesn't look that impressive for the 3 year. I know you do a ton of washes, and throw a LOT of car cleaning products at it, but that hood isn't being subjected to the sun, or other assorted cr@p out in the environment.
For sure UV light depends on the amount as some UV is actually good for the coating especially after a maintenance wash from what Yvan told me. “The chemical decontamination process lightly scars the surface, the sun will close it back up again.”
😂😂😂 POINTLESS! Sorry Dude, but this "Update" video is pointless! - Unless you have been pushing that Panle up an down the street @ about 45mph, daily for about 20-30min!🤦♂
Pointless to you, but not to me any many others. This lets us know chemical and contact resistance which is an important part of coating durability. Hope you find the video with the parameters you need if not time to install them and pickup a camera to show us all.
