Omg that takes me to my childhood. I am a North Indian dark skinned woman. I spent my whole childhood applying different remedies to get a fair skin until I realized that it was mine insecurity only. People around me, who loved me never had a concern with my skin color. Once I got comfortable with my own skin, nothing else mattered.

To be fair, as a young woman who lives in a country with high rates of violence against women, even in public or in broad daylight, violent crimes have happened to women. I might cross the road too if any guy looks very intimidating or acts weird 😂 it doesn't matter what the skin colour or race is, I don't care about that, it's because he's a guy acting suspicious in my country. As a mixed desi woman, I also grew up all the fair propaganda in my family, and I don't care for it. I just worry for my safety so yeah lol
