About marrying a tree. If you have the ‘Manglik’ (unfavourable planetary position of Mars) aspect in your astrological birth-chart, it’s predicted that the person having this aspect is likely to deal with tragic untimely demise of his/her spouse from their 1st wedding. Hence, to avoid that the person with that aspect is married off to a tree and then to another person. That way his/her 1st spouse is a tree and it doesn’t matter if the tree dies as long as it saves a human life from early death. I know it doesn’t make any sense but superstition and bigotry are everywhere.
The comments about critique you made at the end were very mature, quite sensible to understand the importance of local context. Whoever recommended this video to you did not think it through.
Shaadi.com is matrimonial site. Shaadi means marriage. That's what he was talking about being registered on. And Manglik and marrying tree stuff was related to horoscope. Every kid on being born gets one made by their parents.
I thought that whole maanglik concept is a North Indian thing. Being a telugu, I am surprised it's practiced in telugu communities too. Need to check this out with my parents. 🤔
We need Indian black lives matter movement. There are some Indians that have a darker skin comlex then the actual black African person and they face a huge disadvantage as they dont recieve equal respect or look at same as if someone with fair complex. There is a big market for fairness cream in India and the same Bollywood celebs that promote BLM movement also promote fairness cream. Indians are obsessed with fairness cream and having a white complex. Reality check you guys are famous on youtube because Indians are obsessed with white Americans reacting to Indian food, culture, music, movies and ect... others have definitely failed especially youtubers with dark complex. Sad reality.
The whole concept of mangalik is that if you are born as mangalik so before marrying a man or women you have to marry a tree otherwise there is a chances of some misfortunes might happen with your partner so you first have to marry a tree to avoid that curve.
Even as an Indian, it was an eye-opener for me. My family doesn't believe in horoscopes and all things. I heard before that Mangliks have to marry a tree but not that it has to be a specific one acc. to caste. What a mess! And also south Indian's belief about eating white to be fair.
Both those were jokes. He was taking a dig at the caste system and people believing that drinking coffee makes you dark. South Indians just eat rice a lot. It is not a choice based on the colour of rice but on the geography.
Almost everything he said is truly rooted in truth. Even the darkest parts. You want to think it’s an exaggeration but sadly, it’s true... not all of it universally in the same home, but all of it in bits and pieces in every Indian home.
