He wasn't really that dark. He was exaggerating. The reason many cultures prefer fairer skin (not white/Caucasian) is because in the past people that were out in the sun longer were usually labourers who weren't wealthy, meanwhile Elites stayed inside doing more mental work (kings, Kings advisers, businessmen, priests) etc.
All variations of dark is equally treated in india. doesn't matter if it is less dark.

@@rahulr9539 Yes, that's true for fat/short/black/North eastern/South Indian/North Indian. But also I believe, different shades of dark get different treatment too, based on first experience generally.
Akshay kumar marries a buffalo in 'Toilet- Ek prem katha' movie because he was manglik. That is also shown in trailer. Basically it's kind of a curse based on numerology which says that your partner will die after marriage if you are manglik. So you have to get married to some tree or buffalo or something to remove the curse.

In brahmin community in Tamil nadu, few are very fair. So his mom compares him with other fairer ones and calls him dark

Manglik is an astrology/ horoscope related term. Mangliks astrologically have certain negative influences and to mitigate that, the superstition is that you're supposed to marry a tree before you marry a person.

yeah the tree thing was not some weird sexual sort of a thing. According to one's horoscope, if they have the planet Mars in certain positions, then one is termed a Manglik. That person is made to marry some tree(the marriage custom/ritual) . Just wanted to clarify that the comedian guy wasn't attracted to trees or doing anything with/to trees. This marrying a tree though is a very old custom and is now only talked of/referred to.
Also Karunesh Talwar's standup comedy is pretty cool, you can react to that too.

The diversity in India is crazy. In the same Indian tribal community there are people who have very dark skin but also have fair skin people. India is a place where people from different parts of the world have been coming from a long time. The earliest would be the tribes of Andaman Nicobar Islands. You guys probably know about the sentinelese tribe
In some indian customs and traditions, the person with manglik gets married to an animal so that "curse"(or what ever) is lifted.. But i haven't heard of one such things in a while...

He’s not serious about the mangalik marrying a tree and the cast it just a satire , some people do have to marry trees according to a certain tradition because their horoscope says their first marriage will fail or might end up killing their parterre , it’s a superstition

Maybe you guys should do some basic research about Indians, the cultural & local references, difference between north and south, food etc.. In a lot of videos you guys are clueless..
The comedian is pretty low on the Indian comedian food chain. There are definitely better ones out there but there stuff would go over your heads since they are Indian political satirists like kamra, etc. Unless, u are up for the challenge.
Kamra is overrated..not that his jokes are bad or anything...they are too common...I hear similar lines all the time
