@@Ahm-Creative The car is currently stock right now. It came with a Bose system in it. The front doors has 6.5 coaxials and rear deck lid had 6x9s with separate tweeter. I want to put a subwoofer or two in the trunk. Just want a good balance without breaking the bank!
@@seanedwards321 I can absolutely dig it. You will most likely have to bypass the Bose system altogether and run new wires, as Bose amplifiers run on weird ohm loads.
You can get a good Pioneer head unit for $300 or so, and it will have enough power to run Morel speakers.
I'd recommend the Morel Maximo Ultra 602HE MKII for the front doors, and Morel 2-way 6x9's for the rear deck as both are designed to run off head unit power.
For your amp and sub, depending on how loud you want to be, a good starting point would be a Kicker CXA400.1 and a single or dual 12 Kicker Comps.
I recently did a Morel Maximo Ultra 602HE MKII unboxing and sound demo.... you can see it in my most recent videos.
Everything I listed would likely run you about $1,800 or so....or $1,600 if you went with the original Morel Maximo 6.5" components.
I think that's a pretty good price for an amazing system that will sound great for years!

Always enjoy the videos, after been out of this SQ world for a while it’s like a magical new realm. Have you had issue with going with a different brand speak for say the mids then say the mid bass and tweeters?
Thanks brother. I've made some changes since this video...I'll link my latest at the bottom.
But as for mixing mid/highs brands, I had no issues using the Image Dynamics as mid b5-minut ass along with Morel mids and highs, and my mid bass pretty much played those lower frequencies...no vocals and it filled the front stage nicely.
If you look through my videos, my boy with the DynAudio Honda Accord is now using DynAudio Esotar mids and highs, with Stereo Integrity TM8's for mid bass and it sounds amazing! They blend very well together.
I have now switched to Morel MW9 over the Image Dynamics 8's, and you can hear them in this video...it's all Morel for the front stage and rear-fill. The music starts at the 5-minute mark if you want to skip ahead.

Great video! I am working on my system in my 2003 Ram 2500. I have (2) 12” subwoofers under the rear seat powered by a Kenwood amp, 6.5” Kicker speakers in the rear doors, 6x9” Kickers in the front doors, and 3.5” kicker speakers in my dash. I just bought a DSP and hope to have it installed soon.
Man that's awesome brother! Believe it or not, but I am fairly new to DSP's, even though I've been in car audio off and on for 29-years. DSP's are a total game changer, and if this is your first one, be prepared to have your mind blown....LOL!

@@nikosraptis1985 hello my brother in Australia! My front stage is using a Linkwitz Riley crossover with 24dB slope, and a 12dB slope for the sub, which is 180-degrees out of phase in relation to the front stage.
Thanks. I’ve heard these crossover points explained many times, so they must be correct. Still no DSP, but well-placed midrange is doing some magic. Can almost see Alecia and Mary sitting on dash
That's awesome man! I can't remember his name at the moment, but there's a legendary repeat sq champion that won many times without a dsp...just proper speaker placement, eq tuning and gain matching...so I'm sure your sound is just as awesome as many cars in the game.

What about equalization, or are you running “Flat”? Flat is more geared to no distortion introduced into the system
@@Jt19702 my head unit and Fiio player is flat, and all of my tuning is done through my dsp, which I don't share. Not because I'm being private, but because there are people who do not have the gear I have, but want to copy my sound, and I don't want to be liable if something went wrong.
I had someone ask to see my tuning before, for learning purposes, but later admitted he wanted to copy it. Had he copied my exact tune with his gear, he would have surely blown his mids and highs, and likely his midbass as well.

I'm using a Linkwitz Riley 24dB slope on all speakers.
I've tried a 6 and 12dB slope on the tweeters, but didn't notice anything significantly different.

@@Jt19702 my system is an SQ-L build. It's tuned like an SQ car with time alignment and staging, and can also get very loud.... close to 140dB I'd imagine.

I initially planned to go deeper into my dsp spectrum, but thought better of it as I have sat in multiple vehicles with 3-way front stages, that all sounded completely different....not only by tuning, but by speaker placement. But I did believe these crossover points will get you in the ballpark before tweaking the EQ.
@I Still Love Car Audio [n' Car Audio Tech Stuff] Absolutely Ahmed, the crossover points you mentioned are for most of all cars a good reference in three-way configuration.
Sometimes, in some cars like mine, I have to crossover the mids lower, hence the location of the kickbass front woofers, which are under the seats.
But in my former installs, the frequencies you've mentioned were more or less the crossover points I also used.
It also depends on the gear. For example, Casey of Morel told me that the MM3's could be crossed over as low as 170Hz, which made me buy them. The underseat woofers can't play as high as the woofers in the doors like in your car.
The Hertz Mille Legend 700.3 I first had in mind couldn't go low as that.
@@umtbozkr2358 Wow! You talked with Casey too? He's an awesome guy! It was after he sat in my car, that he (and Yacdiel...Morel SQ Mazda) recommended these frequencies for me.
I had my MM3 Crossed a little lower, and tweeters a little higher, but didn't like the sound I was getting. But after dialing them in with this starting point, and making my eq adjustments, I got the exact sound I had been chasing all year long. I like my setting so much now, I no longer tweak and tune....FINALLY LOL!!

I was looking for an audiophile 3 to 3.5-inch mids that could go low.
I couldn't decide between Micro Precision (the 5 series 5.8) and Morel MM3'S.
The Dutch distributor didn't answer my question about how low the Morel could be crossed.
After a while, I sent the same mail to the general mail address off Morel, and Casey replied instantly and with good explanation what slope had to be used; that was the moment I got everything off Morel, from the Picollo tweeters to the Ti124 woofers.
And like you know, first off May I'm starting the project in the 5 series Bimmer....
P.S. rear fill will also be a set off Piccolos and MM3'S.....

Going to try your crossover settings, only difference is that I have a Morel crossover on the tweeter and woofer. As a matter of fact it's the same crossover you used as an example in this video.
I think my crossover settings will help you a bit, but because you're running a passive crossover, it will have a base setting of 2,200hz for both the HP/LP filters, so you may not be able to benefit completely from my settings. You will only get the full effect if you are running actively, without the crossover.

@@MisterManiac777 I'm assuming you're asking this because all of your channels are being utilized, as you mentioned in your other comment...and if so, if I'm not mistaken, you cannot mix high and low level inputs, so that may be a no go.

Hahaha! I miss the dB Drag days, but SQ is (respectfully) boring and biased to me. It's not the same vibe, although I go to shows with my former teammate and hangout when I can. I still love the game, but mostly for me now...not the trophies.
@@Ahm-Creative I'm sorry you feel it's boring. I feel the judges (at least these newer west coast judges) go through a lot of effort to create an objective judging style.
It can be pretty intimidating when someone who has heard literally thousands of cars, tells you why yours doesn't hold up. But you get over it, figure things out, and your system only gets better and better.
@@kewlbug it's slow in comparison to dB Drag Racing as you have to wait around for your car to be judged, then the judging can take 30-minutes or longer...but the people there can make it fun.
As for the judging, it's an objective list, being judged by subjective ears...no two judges will ever hear your vehicle the same, and that is the main reason I won't compete.
When I competed in SPL, we used a calibrated meter that usually read the same on both the left and right lane mics....no bias. And if they were off, they'd use a different mic.
With SQ competitions...at least the one's I've been to, it's usually the same competitor's and same judges, so it is very hard for them to not have some form of bias. And that is not to take a shot at the judge....it's just one of the things I've seen, with the same cars usually winning, even after the previous show's "loser" made the suggested upgrades. Were the upgrades better....I can't say, but when the same group competes against one another, being judged by the same person, I would be hard pressed to find they didn't develop some favoritism for the cars they like.
But I'm not bashing it....SQ comps have been around forever, and I hope they remain.
@@Ahm-Creative you should see the results from long beach.. The rankings essentially flipped. Maybe they got comfortable, or who knows what, but many of the "top" guys found themselves at the bottom. Personally I've been putting in a lot of work (not money) and came home w a few trophies. It's all about your interpretation and execution of the critiques you get.. As well as discovering issues in other ways. There is no "make these upgrades and you're guaranteed a win". I've prob spent 1/4 $ of these other guys.
Ima straight up call you out my dude. I think you just can't hang. You say you're competitive, but I don't think you want to put in the work. And then blame the judges when you don't "win". Kinda bragging, but I'm obsessed w sq and I'm like Mr. tuner here now.

@@kewlbug really!? The last show results I saw had most of the same winners I've been seeing....Team Morel and Team Tru. And I've heard most of their cars, and they've heard mine....and honestly, some were pretty shocked that I tuned strictly by ear. I took some of their tips, but wouldn't let them, or anybody tune my car because if they tuned it, how would I learn, and if there was a show or an issue, I'd have to wait for them to re-tune my car.
Nahhhh brotha, I would never blame the judges if I didn't win, but I've seen a lot of competitor's do that. I'm an honest competitor, especially with myself. If I'm right, I'm right, and the same if I'm wrong.
I've won many dB Drag trophies...it was a great time, and I truly don't mean to be offensive when I say it, but there is no way possible for a person to be objective when they are judging the sound of a car...it will always be subjective....even SQ champions have said that. I would be hard pressed to find two judges ranking a car the exact same way.
Different organizations have different sound criteria and different judges, which is why those who compete in different orgs have presets per org....that alone makes it impossible to be objective. It is a subjective opinion of an objective goal.
