I followed this video because I had a messed up charging port and my phone is back to working normal again. One thing that is not mentioned in the video but I picked up on in the comments, is taking a black piece off of the old microphone that you're replacing and putting it on the new microphone. Besides that one part the whole thing went smoothly.

Another thing that helped me was doing something I saw in reviews for the replacement part I bought: draw a picture of all the components inside the phone and use double-sided tape to stick all the screws on the picture where they need to be screwed back in. Worked like a charm, no guesswork for which screws goes where. Very helpful video!
Fantastic! I went between your 6 and your 6s videos as you mention a few different aspects of the change out. Of note, the most difficult part for me which was mentioned earlier by other folks was the fact that you need to save your old previous microphone housing and insert it accordingly in the cavity of the phone frame. I had to redo that a couple of times as it didn't line up. And in missing that - it throws off all the alignment of how the entire housing lies in the phone cavity. Also trying out the power before putting back on the metal screen plate was a great tip. Would be awesome if you had a iPhone 6 screw chart like you did for the 6s...but I made my own and leveraged off of your 6s as well. MY 3 hours of studying and replacing probably saved me $6 - $800 for another year or more!!

I knew I had a limited budget and zero experience with electronics repairs but figured it would be worth $18 to give it a shot. Other than the one wire attachment that you said took a couple of tries (took me like 20 minutes and gave me a brief sense of panic/frustration) I did it! Thanks again and am subscribing!

Ok, this is old but this was the best video for me. It was clear with still shots to point the screws. I was able to pause at each step, everything was clear. Thanks for this tutorial, my phone is charging right now so I guess I'm good. Cheers! That being said... I second everyone who says you should try to clean the charging port first. I did it too, many times and it worked like a charm after that (just not this time), but please don't use anything metalic, use a wooden toothpick. The first time, the phone was charging but randomly, I wanted to give it a clean up and used a paperclip... boom! It was just not working at all after that. So be careful with the cleaning guys. Now yes, the mic housing, I did see it when disassembling and somehow it stayed against the case so I've left it there, I'll see once my phone is on how good it works. Maybe you, Jerry, should put a little extra note on your video at the right moment to tell people about it ;)

IMPORTANT: Do try to take out lint with sharp needle first. My charging port had very compressed lint, that looked like plastic. Make some pressure to take it out. Before: the charging cable could not fit in. Hope this saves someone a work.
How true ! I already had the charging port replacement kit placed in my Amazon cart when my eyes fell on this comment. "What the heck" I thought, "can’t hurt to give it a try and a proper clean" since I wanted to replace the whole lot anyway. And wouldn't you believe it, after cleaning out more dirt and dust than I ever suspected to be accumulated in that small hole, the connector fit well again (with that "click" feel when you insert the plug) and - the phone is charging properly again ! My son is happy, since for the past year he had to put it into a special position to get contact and charge. Nobody was allowed to touch it or be in the vicinity during that process ;-) That's now history thanks to this comment !
I had an iphone 6 with a broken charger port and another with a destroyed screen. Swapped the good port into the one with the good screen and done!. She works!. Thank you :)

followed this step by step and everything worked fine except my screen. all the other buttons were working but my screen wasn't responding to touch. I figured out that the screws on some brackets have different lengths. be sure to put those longer screws in the same spot and everything will work fine
My charging port started playing up weeks ago, instead of sending off to my network provider or apple i got a charge pro for £6 with tools off eBay and followed this tutorial and had it done in no time!! Slightly more than 5 mins as it is the first repair i have done so was taking mega care but all seems to be working great thanks for the help!!!!
Managed to do it. Hands still shaking. Getting that cable wire back on its place was very challenging. In the end it actually didn't make a click. I just managed to push it in there somehow - took me around 20 mins. Also, I connected the cable before I put the loudspeaker back on - gave me more space.
Watched your video. Worked perfectly! I would also recommend explaining how to remove the battery. I did it by carefully warming up the phone gradually and working at it little bit by bit, careful not to damage the volume connections underneath and on the sides. I kind of just put the phone near a heat source, and stopped before the casing was too hot to touch (don't want to damage components). This helped loosen the adhesives a bit. Then I replaced the battery with a new battery, using the remaining adhesive from the previous phone to hold it in place. I'd also recommend explaining how every new charger port flex comes with a sticker covering the mic (its a yellow film). That MUST be removed or else you wont be able to use the microphone except via Speaker mode. If you pull the sticker off the mic on the new charger port flex, the mic should work perfect. I learn this the hard way. Hope this helps someone reading.
+Matt Fledderjohann Thank you SO FREAKING MUCH! I just swapped my i6 housing with a black housing (LED Apple logo too. Looks amazing) and after solving my button issues and camera issues, this was my last problem. Mic wouldn't work. I saw the yellow tag on the mic, but for some reason, no amount of pulling would remove it. I don't know what I was doing wrong. The blue film peeled off easily, but I couldn't figure out how to remove the yellow tag or what it was for, so I just snipped it off with a small pair of scissors. Now I know what I did wrong. I just gotta figure out why I couldn't get the film off.
*Don't forget to remove the microphone housing and transfer it over to the new mic. I didn't do this and the phone did not work properly. I had to fully disassemble the phone to fix this. When you remove that housing, it will be difficult because of adhesive but it does come out.
+Isaac Lee BLAH!!! He didn't show this in the video...I totally missed it. A few days later, after everyone kept telling me my phone sounded terrible, I realized something must be wrong with the mic. And after taking the phone apart - I realized this housing is missing!!! My fault, I should have been paying better attention...but yikes, I don't have the old assembly any more - trashed it. Not sure where to get a new mic housing now!
I'm having problems with my mic after replacement too! I can't figure which part you are referring to by "microphone housing", is it recognizable anywhere in the video?
It is the black plastic piece that he is holding with the tweezers at 2:48. Also, watch out for the charging port housing. Mine stayed attached to the old piece rather than the frame. The easiest way to tell: hold your old piece up next to the replacement, the part that is different needs to be transferred to the new components.
hi after I replaced lightning port my loudspeaker stoped working, but i didnt transfer the small microphone housing to the mic is it posible that the loud speaker doesent work because of that? thx
Best vid out there on this topic. A couple things that helped me that weren't mentioned: I saved the screws and plates in the different compartments of an ice cube tray. I took a drop of Elmer's glue, applied it to the end of the little screwdriver, and it helped the head of the screw to stay attached to the screwdriver. I used the end of a chopstick to press various ribbons and stuff into place. Much, much more time consuming than the 5 minutes claimed on this vid. I needed a very bright light and a magnifying glass to help me, and I have good close-up vision.
This is a great tutorial that points out the harder issues as well as the easy. The link provided is recommended even though they may not sent progress email but my package came to NE. In 3 days. I am old school self taught auto tech who apprenticed then found myself in a dealer. In the early 70’s a group started an org to elevate auto techs to a base line level with 8 categories. NIASE of which I took all 8 test & passed. Retired now but these are the folks you want working on your equipment. Followed the video and it was super easy. First time, phone turned on and refused to charge. Opened it again and realized the ribbon that wraps around the speaker that plugs in next to the battery was not fully connected. Fixed it and it finally charges again. Thanks for the video!
Thank you for making this vid. It was very helpful to me and I was able to do this myself as a result. I'm a 65 yr old woman and not very handy or tech savvy so that should tell you how easy it is to follow the tutorial. I would advise the use of a magnifying glass however. Those screws are teeny-tiny!!!
This was very well done and much appreciated. One little thing that would have been helpful would have been to point out that the screws on the same parts are different sizes. I took some of them out and then I thought, "Hey, those are different sizes. I had better make sure I keep track of which screw goes in which whole and not just which screw goes with which part." The green arrows were quite helpful.

JerryRigEverything I used an old egg cup box to hold sets of screws and brackets at each stage. And used little bluetac plates to hold the screws in a pattern if they differed in size for any stage.
Thanks jerry you were right the charging ports I had purchased was faulty followed by the next 3 I bought ! Before I exposed the adhesive and started putting everything together I checked to make sure they worked before installing it. Now it's working like new . Bought some new charging cables too just incase that's what started this whole thing . Anyways thank you again your tutorial was on point .

Very simple fix. After accomplishing this simple procedure, I replaced the pituitary gland in my dog and all the gills on our goldfish. Keep the connecting screws organized.

He explains every little single thing in a well detailed way, however, I'm not sure I will be able to make it since I will need to follow the instructions given in the video and that means to dismantle the whole system and those steps are not as easy as they seem to be : (

All was going along smoothly, but I cannot for the life of me get the loudspeaker connector to pop back into place. He said " had to try a couple times", it's been at least 45 min for me,
Great video, many thanks for the upload. Managed to replace my battery and charger port whilst using this vid & works perfectly now. One thing I will say is to remove to screen use an ISclack (about £12 eBay) well worth it & screen pops up easily, I broke my iPhone 5 a few years ago using a single ‘sucker’ trying to wedge it up. After putting it all back together and switching it on the touchscreen wasn’t working and there were lines on the display. If this happens reinserted the displays connectors (they will snap in, just make sure the screen is held up 90 degrees and is the top edge is straight to the top of the phone and they will go in easily) and watch for the screws as they will be in one place and then disappear before your eyes. Total cost for me £15. Thanks again, brilliant vid

Everything went well in my repair i changed the charging port , battery and speaker, only thing i wouldn't do is unclip the screen it gave me so much trouble to make it work again. But any ways thanks for the vid it saved me alot of money
I've been having problems with my i-phone 6 charging port, I just order the parts to replace it. What I have noticed, and forgive me if this is a common method of holding of for replacement parts, but my phone will not charge unless I turn it off and then plug in my charging cable. If that helps some of you guys out while waiting for the parts that's great, I'm not even entirely sure if it is my charging port that is causing that problem, but it seems like an easy assumption to make. Hope this helps!
Fantastic guide, thank you very much. Getting the tiny loudspeaker cable back on was a real PITA, but that's just the design. I'm glad I'm nearsighted, I actually took off my glasses and had my eye about an inch from the phone for a while. :) 3rd repair on my iPhone 6 and it's really weird every time I take it out of the case; modern phones are so slim and slippery, how does anybody not have a monster case just to hold onto them, hah. Ok I have a question please answer if u can becuz I just placedan order for a new iPhone 6 charging port I already replaced the battery since I messed it up charging it with a off brand "elite" charger but when I tried to charge the phone it wouldn't charge I tested the charger and it works fine with my airpods I also did the toothpick thing and it wouldn't work so does that mean I need a new charging port?

Excellent video, easy to follow step by step instructions. I did this and replaced my old charging port with a new one hoping to fix my error 9 when "synching with iphone" while i try to restore to factory settings since my phone is dead. I've tried disconnecting every single component while restoring in hope to fix the error 9 and find the defect one. Nothing works. Do you have any idea what a possible solution might be or is my phone just bricked with a broken nand chip? It all started with a infinite boot loop pattern which eventually resulted in all this.
Took a while longer than 5 minutes just being careful to organize the screws and covers separately and noting which screw went in which hole since they are differing lengths. But overall this was a good series and I just did my battery and charging port on my old I6. Plugging in the screen micro ribbon connectors I had the first one not seat correctly I think and phone would not power up. I tried it before I snapped screen on and had to go back and redo those connections. My bad. Thanks for the info. Thumbs up.
+Mike Kenney Youch! Glad you fixed it but I would NOT recommend using a toothpick due to it being CONDUCTIVE. Could short something with the battery. Much better off using a toothpick!
The hardest part was getting thin wire cable antenna plugged back in. I was starting to think maybe I damaged the connector, but finally I heard it click into place. I put everything together with a new 2200 MAH battery and it's working perfect. It's like my 4 year old iphone6 is new again!
I need help ASAP.... There are two screws on my Iphone 6 that will not unscrew even though they are the same size as the screws that came out easily with the same screwdriver.

LOUD SPEAKER PROBLEMS: I have the same problem with the loud speaker. I have no fixed it yet but i know it is either the new charging port that you installed that is faulty or it was damaged in the install process. I had to take the whole charging port out again because it was postition properly. The part where you lift up to pull the whle thing off ripped a little so i think thats what damaged the speaker. The speaker isnt getting the vorrect connection from the speaker to the two little gold metal things on the actual charging port. So make sure the two little prongs are touching the two little pads and make sure you didnt damage it in the process. I hope this helps.
So the reason I am looking at the video is because my headphone jack isnt working. I noticed that by the headphone jack is the mic. However my phone is missing that screw and metal clip that connects to the mic. Does your replacement part come with that piece.

always battery off first and last thing to go back, i learned the hard way, i must have inadvertently powered up the phone while reassembling , when i was negotiating putting the screen ribbon connectors on i shorted something out, phones dead. good luck, cheers

One quick tip don't use the isesamo to un clip the network antenna, anything metal can short the board. Once battery is u clipped 60 minutes before the capacitors run out of power making safe for any tool. GREAT VIDEO AGAIN THO
Problem solved. I took the phone apart twice, then a third time in order to micro-align the parts. The speaker has two copper conductors (which Zach mentions in the video) which needed a lot of coaxing to have them meet up. Ace.
putting back the speaker was the hardest part but overall great video. One thing that sucked is one the screws from the vibration motor became stripped even though I was using the screw driver that came with the kit so I could remove it and just placed the wire strip over it.

Before you perform this task try cleaning the port with a toothpick. Worked beautifully. Held more lint than my belly button.

If your tools are ferrous you can use a magnet and swipe along from the start of the screwdriver to the tip and make it a temporary magnet.

Great tutorial! One thing that was not mentioned is that some screws are shorter in length than others so be sure to lay them out carefully.
This is a great tutorial that points out the harder issues as well as the easy. The link provided is recommended even though they may not sent progress email but my package came to NE. In 3 days. I am old school self taught auto tech who apprenticed then found myself in a dealer. In the early 70’s a group started an org to elevate auto techs to a base line level with 8 categories. NIASE of which I took all 8 test & passed. Retired now but these are the folks you want working on your equipment. Followed the video and it was super easy. First time, phone turned on and refused to charge. Opened it again and realized the ribbon that wraps around the speaker that plugs in next to the battery was not fully connected. Fixed it and it finally charges again. Thanks for the video!

Thank you for making this vid. It was very helpful to me and I was able to do this myself as a result. I'm a 65 yr old woman and not very handy or tech savvy so that should tell you how easy it is to follow the tutorial. I would advise the use of a magnifying glass however. Those screws are teeny-tiny!!!
This was very well done and much appreciated. One little thing that would have been helpful would have been to point out that the screws on the same parts are different sizes. I took some of them out and then I thought, "Hey, those are different sizes. I had better make sure I keep track of which screw goes in which whole and not just which screw goes with which part." The green arrows were quite helpful.

JerryRigEverything I used an old egg cup box to hold sets of screws and brackets at each stage. And used little bluetac plates to hold the screws in a pattern if they differed in size for any stage.

Thanks jerry you were right the charging ports I had purchased was faulty followed by the next 3 I bought ! Before I exposed the adhesive and started putting everything together I checked to make sure they worked before installing it. Now it's working like new . Bought some new charging cables too just incase that's what started this whole thing . Anyways thank you again your tutorial was on point .

Very simple fix. After accomplishing this simple procedure, I replaced the pituitary gland in my dog and all the gills on our goldfish. Keep the connecting screws organized.

He explains every little single thing in a well detailed way, however, I'm not sure I will be able to make it since I will need to follow the instructions given in the video and that means to dismantle the whole system and those steps are not as easy as they seem to be : (

We can't get the wire cable pinched onto it's port. We tried several times. How hard do you need to pinch it ?
Great video, many thanks for the upload. Managed to replace my battery and charger port whilst using this vid & works perfectly now. One thing I will say is to remove to screen use an ISclack (about £12 eBay) well worth it & screen pops up easily, I broke my iPhone 5 a few years ago using a single ‘sucker’ trying to wedge it up. After putting it all back together and switching it on the touchscreen wasn’t working and there were lines on the display. If this happens reinserted the displays connectors (they will snap in, just make sure the screen is held up 90 degrees and is the top edge is straight to the top of the phone and they will go in easily) and watch for the screws as they will be in one place and then disappear before your eyes. Total cost for me £15. Thanks again, brilliant vid

Everything went well in my repair i changed the charging port , battery and speaker, only thing i wouldn't do is unclip the screen it gave me so much trouble to make it work again. But any ways thanks for the vid it saved me alot of money
I've been having problems with my i-phone 6 charging port, I just order the parts to replace it. What I have noticed, and forgive me if this is a common method of holding of for replacement parts, but my phone will not charge unless I turn it off and then plug in my charging cable. If that helps some of you guys out while waiting for the parts that's great, I'm not even entirely sure if it is my charging port that is causing that problem, but it seems like an easy assumption to make. Hope this helps!

Fantastic guide, thank you very much. Getting the tiny loudspeaker cable back on was a real PITA, but that's just the design. I'm glad I'm nearsighted, I actually took off my glasses and had my eye about an inch from the phone for a while. :)
3rd repair on my iPhone 6 and it's really weird every time I take it out of the case; modern phones are so slim and slippery, how does anybody not have a monster case just to hold onto them, hah.

Ok I have a question please answer if u can becuz I just placedan order for a new iPhone 6 charging port I already replaced the battery since I messed it up charging it with a off brand "elite" charger but when I tried to charge the phone it wouldn't charge I tested the charger and it works fine with my airpods I also did the toothpick thing and it wouldn't work so does that mean I need a new charging port?

Excellent video, easy to follow step by step instructions. I did this and replaced my old charging port with a new one hoping to fix my error 9 when "synching with iphone" while i try to restore to factory settings since my phone is dead. I've tried disconnecting every single component while restoring in hope to fix the error 9 and find the defect one. Nothing works. Do you have any idea what a possible solution might be or is my phone just bricked with a broken nand chip? It all started with a infinite boot loop pattern which eventually resulted in all this.

Took a while longer than 5 minutes just being careful to organize the screws and covers separately and noting which screw went in which hole since they are differing lengths. But overall this was a good series and I just did my battery and charging port on my old I6. Plugging in the screen micro ribbon connectors I had the first one not seat correctly I think and phone would not power up. I tried it before I snapped screen on and had to go back and redo those connections. My bad. Thanks for the info. Thumbs up.
I was having the same problem. I was at work so instead of a toothpick, I used the end of a paper clip. It worked beautifully, TY for the suggestion.
+Mike Kenney Youch! Glad you fixed it but I would NOT recommend using a toothpick due to it being CONDUCTIVE. Could short something with the battery. Much better off using a toothpick!
The hardest part was getting thin wire cable antenna plugged back in. I was starting to think maybe I damaged the connector, but finally I heard it click into place. I put everything together with a new 2200 MAH battery and it's working perfect. It's like my 4 year old iphone6 is new again!

LOUD SPEAKER PROBLEMS: I have the same problem with the loud speaker. I have no fixed it yet but i know it is either the new charging port that you installed that is faulty or it was damaged in the install process. I had to take the whole charging port out again because it was postition properly. The part where you lift up to pull the whle thing off ripped a little so i think thats what damaged the speaker. The speaker isnt getting the vorrect connection from the speaker to the two little gold metal things on the actual charging port. So make sure the two little prongs are touching the two little pads and make sure you didnt damage it in the process. I hope this helps.
So the reason I am looking at the video is because my headphone jack isnt working. I noticed that by the headphone jack is the mic. However my phone is missing that screw and metal clip that connects to the mic. Does your replacement part come with that piece.

always battery off first and last thing to go back, i learned the hard way, i must have inadvertently powered up the phone while reassembling , when i was negotiating putting the screen ribbon connectors on i shorted something out, phones dead. good luck, cheers
Great Video! What are the chances the new charging port is defective? I followed this video step by step and everything went well... When I went to turn on my phone, the phone would not charge, and I also had no service. Any Ideas? Thank you.
One quick tip don't use the isesamo to un clip the network antenna, anything metal can short the board. Once battery is u clipped 60 minutes before the capacitors run out of power making safe for any tool.

Problem solved. I took the phone apart twice, then a third time in order to micro-align the parts. The speaker has two copper conductors (which Zach mentions in the video) which needed a lot of coaxing to have them meet up. Ace.

putting back the speaker was the hardest part but overall great video. One thing that sucked is one the screws from the vibration motor became stripped even though I was using the screw driver that came with the kit so I could remove it and just placed the wire strip over it.
