In the AvP video game, it was revealed that Bishop Weyland had a digital copy of his brain created which was uploaded into an android. And everytime he is "killed", his mind transfers to another body. He's pretty much been running the company for centuries by constantly transferring his mind to a new shell everytime something happens to his old one.

Actually... they should've had the return of Newt.
I mean, think about it. Retcon her dying on Alien3 (which everyone hates happened anyway), age her up, have her be raised by Ripley, have her replace Alex's role in AvP, and have the movie take place on a colonized planet that discovers the Xenomorph pyramid.
Heck, if you did that, AvP coulda been a franchise with Newt (and maybe Scar) exploring the origins of the Xenomorphs and Predators.

The three predators in this movie were "unblooded," hadnt killed a xenomorph yet. The mark the one predator puts on it's mask is to symbolize that it was now a "young blood," one that had killed at least one xenomorph, which would allow it to go on solo hunts like the jungle and city hunters did.

One reason is because it conflicts with every other movie from both franchises.
The xenomorphs are not supposed to ever be on Earth. They were found for the first time in the future on another planet very far from Earth. Alteori mentioned other things that have to do with these inconsistencies like the aliens attacking a host that is already carrying one of they offspring, the Yautja not checking for a xenomorph inside of Scar.
The MO of the predators in Earth was also to just drop one or two of their kind on some part of the world and let them hunt to proof their worth with trophies. That is what happened in the first two predator movies and in the comics. That made them mythical, like unknown entities appearing here an there across history. But in this movie suddenly the predators are the ones that taught humans to build and somehow many cultures interacted in the same place, but no further explanation was presented as to why there was no trace of this anywhere else.

It's fine but the original comic series was so so good every other Alien vs Predator story has been lackluster compared to it. It felt like part of the universe it didnt hurt that the artist on the first half of the series was a story board artist on most of James Camerons movies. And honestly the story felt like a Cameron/Hurd story..nigh comic perfection it wasn't the best selling non Marvel/DC comic at the time just because people like monsters it was legitimately great. Sadly this movie is but s pale reflection of it. It's all cause the Alien people at 20th century Fox didnt want to.sully their xenomorph with dirty Predators. It's funny it's like vampires and werewolves and poor Predator is the werewolf. Of these Alien people made the trainwreck the Alien series had become and later gave us Covenant, good job gatekeeping assholes...

The Predators sought to hunt them down, so Noguchi had to pick a side, so she decided to help her fellow humans. Fun fact: That Xenomorph you call "Dice" is actually named Grid. Also the reason you see Weyland again in Alien 3 is because AVP isn't actually canon to either the Alien or Predator universes. They're all separate franchises. The Weylands are two separate characters played by the same actor, Lance Henriksen, one of two actors who have been killed by a Xenomorph, Yautja, and Terminator. The other being Bill Paxton. I love this movie because it was actually my introduction to both the Alien and Predator franchises. I can't say the same for the sequel though, the only thing I liked from AVPR was the concept of the Predalien. The Yautjas in the movie actually do have names, and while you're right that they don't say them, their names are: Celtic, Chopper and Scar. Scar is the one that makes it to the end of the movie, and that marking he puts on his helmet, face, and Lex's face means that he has reached "Blooded" status. A Yautja reaches this status by killing a Xenomorph. That marking is probably the only reason that the Elder Yautja didn't kill Lex when they took Scar's body back to their ship. He recognized the marking and as a sign of respect, gave her his spear. Lex is basically an honorary member of the tribe. Also the reason Ripley wasn't attacked in Alien 3 wasn't just because she had a Xenomorph growing in her, it was because she had a Xenomorph QUEEN growing inside her.

Also, despite being cold, human internal body core temp is 37.2 degrees Celsius. The predator would still probably be able to recognise heat signatures. I know Arnie hid his heat signature with mud in the first predator film but I’m not quite sure if this would work in real life.

To elaborate upon why the Xenos didn't attack Ripley but DID attack Scar(Teddy) is because he proved to be too much of a threat than his worth.
He would(and did) eradicate whole hive and was even battling the Queen herself.
She decided her life was more important than that of a single unborn xeno, because she is the queen after all, and she can make those types of decisions.
A drone like in Alien 3 could not make that decision, especially since Ripley wasn't directly threatening a current queen

So yeah, it didn't kill Ripley because she cared the future of it's species in her. But the pain she inflicted caused it to go mad and fully embrace it's animalistic nature to destroy what harmed it badly no matter what (exactly like Scar except Scar was designated a threat sooner then Ripley was as there was no preserving the species with Scar then it was with Ripley)

also fun fact: each predator (and the one alien) has their own name and personalities
the celtic predator(the one that had the awesome alien fight) is the aggressive/arrogant brute who is pretty much the leader of the group, the one that got stabbed by the xenomorph's tail is named chopper who is the youngest of the group (think of it like a little brother trying to prove himself) and finally "teddy" who is actually named scar is the smartest and most skilled out of the three ( as you could tell he's also the most inquisitive). when it comes to the xenomorphs there's only one that slightly shows a personality, the one with the net markings is named grid. he (yes fans call him a "he") is the most intelligent/independent out of the others, you could immediately tell since he never aproaches things head on like the others while sometimes appearing like a leader figure (although some theorize he's this Intelligent cause he's a potential candidate to be the next queen)

I dosen't really make sense continuity-wise. AvP is pretty much not canon to the Alien series thanks to Prometheus. Though, can still be considered canon to the Predator series. Though there's also contension that Peter Wayland is Bishop's son, and the Bisdhop at the end of Aline 3 is either lying and he is a robot, or a clone. There was uncertnalty as to whether he was human or not before this movie even came out, he can't really be taken at his word in the theatrical version of that scene given the context. Though the assembly cut obviously has the red blood, so take it as you will.

The aliens are way too overpowered and the predators are waaaay too nerfed in this movie. I was always predator biased but you can tell the director liked alien more that's why one single xeno kills two of 3 predators when there's dozens of xenos, a more accurate representation of their strengths against each other is actually unfortunately in AVPR where the wolf predator just annihilates xenos in the dark for an hour and a half. These predators were young and dumb and had never fought xenos before, as well as the director Wes Anderson being so incredibly biased towards aliens. He admits this as well, he originally wanted to make an alien sequel without predator but studio wanted avp and Wes Anderson just wasn't a predator fan, so you end up with what should be a weak drone xeno horde getting rekt by predators with some predators dying here and there throughout the run time, and instead it's what should be a weak single xeno killing two of the giant brute predators, it makes no sense and it's kinda embarrassing. Plus the rule is if there's a whole hive of them like xenos, they're relatively expendable, but when there's less of the predators, you don't kill them all at once halfway through the movie. Theres no reason the nethead xeno beats the chopper and Celtic predator, the Celtic predator definitely should've killed that xeno and kept living it's like they didn't know what to do with 3 predators, and again they weren't predator fans, this is much more of an alien movie than a predator movie. So that's my giant rant about how the aliens are way overpowered and the predators are waaay nerfed in this movie.

This is my favorite of both franchise! Scar(that’s his name, Celtic was the one that was 1v1 Grid the xenomorph in that first fight after Grid killed Chopper). They really run with the teenage ness of the Predators in this movie and I love it. One of my favorite scenes is a deleted one (I recently found out it was added back in the unrated version and I’ll buy a whole new copy just for that!) but when Scar is making Lex the spear and shield he actually pranks her by getting her to focus on the head and then making the second mouth pop out to scare her, and she just gives him a look like ‘haha you little shit’ I love it! That and his sassy head shake when he killed the baby chestburster.
Despite the inconveniences, this is still my favorite movie out of all of them and I wish Scar had lived, Lex had gone with him and that trash sequel was never made!!!!
I think the Waylon issue was answered in a director commentary of alien 3 that that Waylon was a clone of the one in AvP but idk how the one in covenant fit in other than possible a descendant. And the bomb in the flash back I believe wasn’t to destroy their tech it was a fail safe to destroy any overpopulation if the Predators fail in containing and killing their prey. Rather good idea given how fast Xenomorphs can reproduce.
The queen attacking Scar when he has a chest burster, I have a theory on that she did that on purpose because it was a predalien-given it’s behavior in the sequel it definitely would have been a rival and not been submissive to her authority. Chet-the predalien-would bully the drones and even killed them over food, he could reproduce on his own and at a higher rate than the queen. Definitely a threat to her.

You'd think they would check to make sure none of them were infected before bringing them on, but then again they might be arrogant enough to believe no Predator is dumb enough to get caught with their mask off to get infected so it's a stretch but possible they simply forgot to, expecially sence they had just lost then entire group they were likely in some kind of morning over the losses.

Just another thing with how Teddy (Scar my beloved) saw the ice cold man, in another pred movie (the second one) some guys they tried to block their heat signature to fight them which was when the introduction of the multiple bio-mask sights became a thing. So they could have seen his bones with X-ray or the sight they use for the Xeno's whose temp matches the surrounding area as well. Oh and the comic that this movie was based on, they show that while most queens protect their offspring some will sacrifice them to save their own life. Also yes, can attest... People be knew for the vibes between Lex and Scar.

This movie was my introduction to both the Alien and Predator franchises, and while it does have a good number of flaws (outside of the PG-13 rating), I still love it, though I'm still bummed out that Scar (aka Teddy, I love that nickname you gave him XD) died in the end. Can we get a film where the Predator survives, please?

Bishop in Alien 3 was most likely just another artificial person, like the Bishop in Aliens
Other little things: The Xenomorph with the markings is officially named Grid, and Teddy is officially named Scar, most Yautja have actual names that the comics or toys say, Grid is one of the few Xenomorphs to ever get a name, one of the others being Big Chap from Alien 1.

Off the top of my head, I'm pretty sure the waylands are a family starting off with the guy in this one. I think the whole Wayland yutani thing comes from them getting predator technology from either this movie or the next one, which leads to them becoming the biggest corporation in the world and starting their own spaceship company situation, which is out trying to find planets to colonize by the Prometheus era. I think the guy from alien 3 is just another great great grandkid, obviously played by the same guy. The version from Prometheus is the only one that doesn't look like this guy, but by that point I think this actor might have passed away? Either way, it's one of those situations where they're all from the same family and just look either identical or similar. Or at least that's the way I interpreted it.

11:08. My first thought was Weyland in AvP was an ancestor to Weyland in Alien 3, but it is kind of weird that both would look exactly the same. Maybe Weyland in 2174 is a clone like you mentioned.
I read somewhere that the AvP movies are not canon with either franchise's main movies, and Ridley Scott pretty much ignored this movie when he created Prometheus.
Interesting thing is that Dan O'Bannon, one of the writers of the first Alien movie, was also a writer for AvP. Which is kind of weird, considering Ridley Scott was overlooked the writing of Prometheus.

Of course with different writers you get inconsistencies which is a shame. But canonically, the Yautja earn each of their weapons in turn, starting with the spear-thingy and then later they earn the shoulder-canon. So the elders in this are like "ok cool, well-done, we recognise you as an entry-level warrior, have your first weapon"

  • @tiagotiagot
    @tiagotiagot 2 роки тому +2

I think I remember reading somewhere that Yautja usually go for hot weather because that makes warm-blooded prey closer to ambient temperature and so more of a challenge even with their heat vision; so maybe even with the skin getting ice and stuff, it was still a big enough temperature difference from the ancient Antarctic ice to make it very easy to see?

Apologies if this has already been said before, but I’m pretty sure the symbol Scar (name for the last surviving Predator) carved into his helmet, forehead, and Lex’s cheek are a sign of being “blooded.” I’m also pretty certain that it is a rudimentary iconography for a Zeno morphs, with the top part representing the head and the vertical line being its body. Just in case you wanted to know. I thought it was a pretty cool detail!
