    I just found your installation video and subscribed . Then I followed it up to this video and WOW…..I admire your transparency and honesty. I own two Rv’s a 42ft 5th wheel and a truck camper and I’m a full timer. I get it. Some things are really weird with Rv construction. Check your lines for hard water deposit in the mesh filters / shower heads / water aerator on the faucets etc…..that happened to a fellow camper who asked me to help him figure out why his water pressure was weak….and sure enough that was it. Best of luck and keep up the great work. You are an amazing person. Teach your kiddos to be self sufficient like you. Asking for help when you don’t know something is a good sign of being grounded and humble (not presumptuous). It’s OK not to know and fail, the magic begins when you get up on your feet and say to yourself, I’m going to figure this out! ❤

    I had a Rheem brand tankless water heater in the house and twice a year I had to take Emery cloth and clean the flame rods. These are small rods inside the heater that detect the flame and help regulate temperature.

      The Furrion is made by the same factory (or at least has ALL of the same internals) as the Fogatti. Best to try to do as I did, and adapt a standard household tankless (I used the Takagi 140H) to your rv. The only drawback is it doers require 120v AC power, so you'd have to use an inverter or generator when boondocking.

  • @her1975dez
    @her1975dez 10 місяців тому +7

    Nope. Not your camper. Same EXACT thing is happening with mine right now. Worked great for 3 months then it would not hold the thermostat setting. Gradually would get hotter and hotter all the way to 130°. Called emailed and text messaged fogatti multiple times and got no help. Complete trash of a company.

  • @ysgi
    @ysgi 6 місяців тому +4

    I have a used tankless WH in our RV for 6 years. The only thing I could think that might be causing your issues is the bypass valve being open behind the WH. Those bypasses are no longer needed with the tankless but some people still use them when winterizing. Which is not correct. Tankless can take the pink antifreeze just fine. Can you confirm that you had that valve closed when you were having the issues ??
    One other thing. I’ve heard of the outside shower causing issues with WH efficiency. Some people have a garden sprayer on the hose that cuts the water flow but they leave the hot and cold valves open at the shower. This causes a strange mixture to occur.
    Please let me know if either of these might have been your issue.

    I realize this is a year old but here goes. Of course we are going to rip on you about the teflon tape direction (good natured type), we have ALL done it at some point. I really loved that you sounded like you knew what you were doing and used good terminology for a lot of it. I am curious if you ever found out what happened to the unit? I would think a unit designed for RV/trailers would be set up for lower flow rates. Anyway, loved the video and the way you own the mis-steps.

    • @fallenintocamping
      @fallenintocamping  День тому

      Haha I appreciate your comment! I never really investigated further (it’s still on my very long to do list 😂). From what I’ve heard from other RV techs, this is a pretty common issue unfortunately. Since this video fogatti has redesigned their units with internal PR valves, so maybe they are better than the units that I installed. Who knows 🤷‍♀️😂

    The tankless water heater I have (different brand) is extremely finicky when it comes to the water flow (gpm) to activate the water heater and maintain a consistent temperature. If I'm using hot water and it gets too hot I open another hot water faucet along with the one I'm using and that helps correct the temperature. Not very eco friendly but helps in a pinch. I don't know how your water heater is activated but if it's like mine inconsistent water flow might be something to look at.

    • @fallenintocamping
      @fallenintocamping  Рік тому +2

      That’s definitely got something to do with it. I tested that out when I was at my house and the temperature varied a lot depending on the water pressure. Which is even worse-because there’s no telling what kind of water pressure you will have at a campground. Wasn’t worth the gamble to me 😂

    @fallenintocamping Thank you for directing me to this video. As I said in my other comment on your install video, sorry to see that the Fogatti Curse has happened to you too. Especially upsetting since you have kids that almost got scalded, that company needs to be held fully accountable for selling such a dangerous and unreliable product. I am going to consult with my attorney to see if a class action is warranted, as there are hundreds, if not thousands of others having the same (and worse) issues.

  • @TDub_ADV
    @TDub_ADV 23 дні тому

    Did you do any boondocking with this heater? It looks a lot like the suburban hester we had in our RV. We found it wasted a LOT of water waiting for it to heat up and sometimes it would take minutes. Navy showers were out of the question since every time you shut the water off it took a min ot two to get hot water again. It was also very sensitive to pressure, anything under 45PSI and it gave us fits. Never had the scalding issue tho.. We ended up replacing it with a Truma which was not cheap but we are super happy with it.

    • @fallenintocamping
      @fallenintocamping  10 місяців тому

      I have 2 regulators coming off of the tank, but I don’t think the supply was the issue. I had problems with the supply when I first set it up and it gave me an error code, and then I fixed it and it worked fine. Not out of the question, but I might add that to the list of things I’ll try when I test it outside. It’s on my very long list of things to do 😂

    • @fallenintocamping

  • @chrisw9451
    @chrisw9451 2 місяці тому

    Okay, so these aren't meant to be used like a regular water heater. You only want to turn the heat up to what will be comfortable with the hot water on only. The more you have to restrict the flow of the hot by turning on the cold the more problems you will have. That's why it keeps getting hotter on you. When you turn more cold on and heat down it just compounds the problem. Set it at 90 then use the hot valve only to maximize the flow through the water heater.

    • @fallenintocamping
      @fallenintocamping  2 місяці тому +2

      Your first comment is correct. I set the temperature for what I want, and the hot water is supposed to come out to the temperature I set the thermostat at. The issue is, it never would. I never mixed cold in until troubleshooting. The thermostat would be set at 100 and the water would come out at 140-150 with the cold off.

  • @jeffdana9402
    @jeffdana9402 10 місяців тому +2

    I'm sure you've tried everything but just incase, mine (different company) has basic settings on temp output and another for amount of water flow output. Those 2 settings are sensitive and work together like a teeter totter. Adjust one and it affects the other. My settings are dials, yours is fancier than mine, probably digital. Dig into those settings and see if the setting (button, dial, or digital setting) got changed accidentally. Wouldn't it be great if it is something simple? (after all that work, ug!) Good luck and let us know if you get it fixed and tested and re-installed!!!!!

    • @fallenintocamping
      @fallenintocamping  10 місяців тому

      Interesting! I don’t remember the controller even having a settings button. I just looked back at the manual and the only thing the controller lets me do is change the overall temperature up or down. I’ll have to look into that…I just looked at the manual again and no instructions on how to modify any of the settings. I do know it’s got a flow sensor and temperature input and output sensor, so you would think there would be some kind of adjustment for both. I’ll do some more research on it, thanks!

    I know this is a while down the road but can you expand on exactly how you wired it to your battery and if it drained your house batteries faster?

    • @fallenintocamping
      @fallenintocamping  5 місяців тому

      Basically wired the positive on the water heater to a 15amp fuse (you can find them on Amazon) and then wired that to the positive of my 12v battery. Negative goes to negative. I think I used 12 stranded wire. Definitely helped a lot with the power surge but didn’t make the unit function properly 🫤

    • @fallenintocamping
      @fallenintocamping  5 місяців тому +1

      Didn’t drain the battery any faster in my opinion. It dosent drain a lot of power to start, and ideally, you don’t shut the power (or water) off during the shower. It runs off propane, so the battery is really to ignite the pilot.

      Eh, could be but I doubt it. I replaced the lines and regulators for all of my tanks within the last year, so they are new. Definitely not out of the question though! Even if that’s the case, you think there would be some kind of internal regulator in the unit itself.

    Great job on the video. I think the reason your lights flickered was because you hooked the ground wire(green) to the neutral wire (typically white). When you do that it creates something called an "open neutral". That creates an unbalanced load which can cause various issues (such as light flickering). The fix should be to just identify the neutral wire and use that instead of the green wire. I will link a video that explains more in depth. I hope this helps. ua-cam.com/video/LJvyb_WujZg/v-deo.htmlsi=pIUYR6GYE0lwZ9_M

    I hope you read this because I think I know what you're doing wrong. Set your temp to what is comfortable for you and use it at that temp... do not turn cold water on that is whatnis causing your flow problem making your water sit longer in the heater making temp rise. If you adjust your water temp to your comfort you don't need to turn cold water on.

    • @fallenintocamping
      @fallenintocamping  19 днів тому +2

      Hey! Thanks for the comment. The issue I had was when I would set the thermostat to 100, I would only open the hot, and the water would be 150+. It never would self regulate. If I tried to mix cold in to lower the temperature of the hot, it would obviously just shut off because it wasn’t meant to run with the cold. Still haven’t had time to investigate why both units did the same thing, but after taking to other RV techs, it seems like a very common issue for these units 🫤

  • @dooli7113

    I haven't installed my Fogatti heater yet however I read the instructions and I'm a guy so I usually don't. In the instructions it said do not modify the "Positive" ground. The instructions also said this unit must be "grounded". This unit was made in China so the instructions aren't perfect. Most cars, trucks, and campers are negatively grounded. I have a hunch that you have a grounding issue causing your controller's sensor chip to mess up. Either this or a proportional valve issue or water flow sensor{ I know you changed some sensors but see it you can test this one). After watching your video I will email RecPro and try and find out the proper way to ground this unit. Found this video from Fogatti about the proportional valve voltage values. ua-cam.com/video/rgIHQwwzBII/v-deo.html See if you have 12 volts dc on the red and white wires. This would make sense in your case that your proportional gas valves would not be working or sticking allowing too much gas flow over heating the water. Just for the heck of it, check your sensor voltage also ua-cam.com/video/4m5iYQv9zKc/v-deo.html. Lastly I wonder if you have scale built up on your water flow sensor. This would be strange after 6 months of use but possible ua-cam.com/video/qTkIbRvZ88E/v-deo.html. Good luck!

    Many new products are never tested in a way that would replicate using them in the real world for over a year or more. They rush them to market, take your money and let them fail at the buyer's end. The standard heaters have been proven over many years. It would be better to try to add another standard unit if you can find the space.
