These are not for sound proofing, only sound treating. All they will do is get rid of echos, deadening the sound. You need mass and sealed up air gaps to sound proof.

Except don’t put it in front of you like this guy. When recording vocals you are going to be using a cardioid microphone which picks up sound in the direction it’s facing. This means that you should have foam behind you, for the sound that’s going to bounce off the front wall, and then hit the back wall.
