Christinas Story i have ringlets like Shirley temple, but naturally. I would kill to be able to actually comb my hair. It takes two or three hours outside of the shower, and 45 mins in the shower
Her hair looked beautiful in the beginning, I don't like how the end result turned out. Her hair looked a lot healthier and glossy before they permed it.
I BEGGED my hairdresser to use giant rollers for a perm about 15 years ago, and they looked at me like I had two heads and refused. I am glad to see things have advanced since then!
Good question! They insisted that it wouldn't work and I would ruin my hair. I didn't want to have my hair permed by someone who refused to listen to me, so I left.
Reading all these negative comments I was waiting for some disaster at the end. This looks amazing!! It looks like sea salt waves. Yes it looks a little dry but he said MULTIPLE times that she bleaches her hair and her ends are POROUS. I want this done to my hair.
Ok honestly guys when they said Basic I don't think they meant it bad, they just meant they want to make a change and make her hair different. Basic is not bad and I think you guys need to freaking chill

Ive had my hair permed a couple times and ive ALWAYS wanted bigger curls or waves and every salon has ALWAYS told me they cant do anything any bigger than the perming rods. Im so glad to see this so now i vam go in and show them YES you can!!
But girl, if the salon you're visiting doesn't already do this, you do NOT want to be the first! You need to find someone who is experienced with these types of perms, and in some areas that's going to be hard to find.

Wow, her hair looks so frizzed out and dull. Didn’t love the color before the perm but the perm just sucked all the shine out of it. Sad. Not his greatest video for sure - even some of the shots were out of focus.
When I was 13 I wanted “perm beach waves” so my mom took me to her hairdresser and the hairdresser gave me full on ringlets and just told me “it will loosen and get wavy”. Never did. Worst mistake ever.
Get references, if possible, on your hairdresser, in advance. In addition to pictures, I think sharing videos like this one, would go a long way in making sure that you end up with what you are paying for.
If you don't show the styling process between taking out the rollers and the final result, I don't believe that this is actually how her hair came out.
Absolutely 🙌🙌 I've done so many of those, and tho it looks really good with the right styling/drying process, that looks a bit too styled 😆 . I'm sure there's an iron still plugged in somewhere
Agh thank goodness someone said it, too much like a curling iron had a part to play in this perm - I also don’t remember them even asking the client if you wanted a perm in the first place 😒
I've also plaited my hair and permed the plaits and that turned out great like water ripple waves, kind of like crimping but nice big waves without the hard edges of crimping and it lasted well over nine months.
I can promise you the second she stops using the at home Olaplex treatment shes gonna start losing chunks of hair every day. You should NEVER perm hair thats been lightened with bleach. But, everyone thinks Olaplex is some miracle product that makes it so your hair is never damaged no matter what. No bitch its all artificial and is designed to force the consumer to never be able to stop buying it or there hair will be ruined. Absolute scam.
Maureen Porter not on the same day but you can if you wait a little while after getting the perm. You can get color before your perm, but you color might fade a little bit if you don’t mind it.
I went in asking for exactly this about 12 years ago. The salon manager worked on me and just used the small spiral curlers and wrapped the hair very loosely. Then she talked on the phone too long and over processed me and when my hair eventually dried, it was fried and so frizzy I actually cried. I called and told her how bad it was and she said well, I'll do a free color job on you... bitch, do you seriously think I'm going to let you touch my hair again? I told her exactly how to do this in advance!
I had that happen to me when I was really young. I ended up with shortest haircut EVER in my life, and it ended up looking good. BUT NOTHING CLOSE TO WHAT I WAS AIMING FOR. She damaged my hair so badly that no amount of conditioner or leave in would let me get a comb through so I cut it all off. I feel for you.
Me too!!!! The girl told me the curl wouldn’t hold....and then they over-trimmed it. I ended up with a chin-length spiral perm. I was 11 and I cried for days and did all I could to ruin it. Ended up wearing my hair in a ponytail for a year before a friend chemically straightened it at a sleepover...

Badic means - plane old simple. Shes moving up . Shes not being basic. Everyone having beach curls isnt badic its a new trend . And its moves up every year. So no its not basic. Its called an upgrade
I think they touched it up with a curling iron. Which is fine, but I really wanna know what it looks like just air dried. Not dried with a diffuser and touched up with the curling iron. Looks great though, good job
it also looks like he cut her ends too, then styled it. leaving the ends out is just lazy. there are perms that won't ruin the hair like he did. the only reason I would use olaplex is to stop the perm from penetrating the hair, olaplex without water mixed in. there is so much they didn't show.....I can tell. I've been doing hair for a good while now. like 20 years
I find it so funny at the end they are like what do we call this new perm style??! like they invented it. body wave perm. its a freaking body wave perm
exactly what i was thinking. plus perms like that never last long. two weeks after its dropped and it will look like a ball of fuzz on her head. slightly smaller sections, slightly various sizes of rollers, and using an end paper to get in those narky ends would have helped. its too easy to over process when the sections are so big. 20 mins processing? id never dream of leaving a perm on for longer than 5- 8 mins max on non-virgin hair unless it was a progressive perm solution that processes differently from the traditional ones... end papers protect the ends as far as im aware..... idk. poor girl. olaplex or not, avoid the harm in the first place. idk. not trying to bitch at all im just amazed. but what do we know, were just lowly hairdressers ;)
sorry, but that's not the end result from that curlers, I don't buy it at all ! This is iron curled. You can see every little step except when he takes the curlers out! Tell me why?
honestly it doesn't look as great as I thought it would. I thought it be a curly kinky fro. it just looks like Curls done with a big curler and teased to high heavens.
+Seth Synvalo yeah, I get it. i didn't think that style look that great. I think they were going for a lilly ghalichi hair look but it was dry and not good lookinh5
I love this!!! I’ve been wanting this since the early 90s. My stylist couldn’t pull it off and made me get a bald spot. I try to get waves w/ flat irons and curling irons but, doesn’t hold. This is what I NEED!!!
I love that name! ❤😍❤ Tidal Wave!! I got a perm a year a half ago, because I am one of those unfortunate souls that my hair does not like to curl.... I wish I would have known about Olloplex then, might have saved me from so much damage and breakage!
+lee bags maybe thats how they look right after and then they smooth out after like two washes or so? this permanent shit usually looks intense at the beginning
Fasika H But the overwhelming majority of them have hair that is dark brown and heavily textured. There is variety in how tightly curled a black person's hair might be, but overall it is very different than the hair types typically displayed on this channel. On some rare occasions there are black people with straight hair, but it's so rare that it's merely an exception to prove the rule.
This is a 16 min vid yet there are ppl who comment within the first 3 mins of upload saying shit like " omg those curls are so beautiful" like bitch did you even watch the video?
Any of my friends who have like wavy or curly hair are like I love your hair! It's so straight! And I'm just "um...ok" I mean like I like my hair straight but I'd kinda like to have wavy hair! 😂
Abby Winters my hair is super straight as well. In a mall once a guy tried to sell me a staightener and when I told him I don't straighten my hair he looked at me like I was lying through my teeth ROFL. Oh well....
Chisato Minami I'm sure a lot of people do, but like most hair dresses they like to take the approach where they make you insecure about what you have so they can give you that expensive thing "Everybody else wants" or thats "trendy"
Back in the 80’s when perms were very popular I remember asking why can we get a much bigger roller so that the curls can be bigger and not so tight small curls. I guess I was ahead of my times.
Honestly I think it looks like bedhead because she isn't wearing makeup, and isn't wearing a nicer outfit. If she was dolled up, she would have Beyonce hair and look bomb.
Lillian Lilo great!! Looks like I have beach waves! Honestly didn't smell as bad as everyone claims. Didn't fry my hair bad, did a lot of research bought a Quantum brand acid perm from Amazon. You'll definitely want a friend to help there were a few rollers in the back I didn't quite get well 😅 overall tho very happy will definitely do it again
Not really - I mean, I'm sure she has naturally curly hair because of the root texture... but the curls themselves are definitely wand curls - you can tell because the size of the curl is so uniform and consistent which doesn't really happen... especially with looser curl patterns like that. I mean, I don't think there's anything wrong with it... I do my curly hair that way too... but it ain't natural. It can be frustrating for people just learning how to manage their curly hair seeing so many people say their curls are natural when they were enhanced with a wand.
you, out of all people, should know that it's a HUGE hair no no to do a perm right after a hair color. it's either one or the other, or else her hair would melt.
+Tehya Reid that's great, yes always learn the rules first and then u can work around it, as u can see in the video , I only apply the perm solution to the mids of her hair avoiding the ends ! That wAy it doesn't hurt compromised ends!
+Guy Tang I just realized you only lightened the ends! I didn't mean any harm by my comment, I was just a little concerned for her hair. You definitely know how to work your magic so I shouldn't have been worried at all haha.
first time i did it, my hair was BEAUTIFUL. after years i wanted to do it again and the lady jusy DESTROYED my hair🙁 i guess it depends on other things and how you do it,aaaand how strong your hair is atm...
+Daniela Dellavecchia people are getting false hairs surgically implanted into their faces because their brows won't grow back in after plucking them for years.
I really dislike when people label things as "basic." Usually, it is natural things they want to label as "basic" but using it with negative connotation. In reality, we shouldn't be telling someone a natural feature of theirs is basic. ie: the client's straight hair. There are other terms that can be used. I just think basic sounds so bitchy and catty. It is straight hating on people. I don't remember when bullying became cool.
See, mine is a natural 80's spiral lol I'd love to have something less coiled, but still curly. I really goofed and had done keratin relaxing treatments. The regrowth is just as, if not more tightly coiled than before. Think Darlene from Roseanne mixed with Shirley Temple ;)
Bouncy. Loose. Texture. Love it. [Maybe] for a more lasting result and more texture, I personally would use 1 smaller rod, 1 large rod alternated throughout, rather than just one size rod, with slightly smaller sections taken. It was a lovely result though, for your client, and a great way to add change.
my hair is like that naturally and it can get sooo annoying to handle!
*it seems everyone wants the opposite of what they have for hair its wierd*

The color fell out...I liked the waves in her hair ,but again the perm caused that beautiful color to fall out..its so golden..shes pretty though..
It looks amazing to me

I think they touched it up with a curling iron. Which is fine, but I really wanna know what it looks like just air dried. Not dried with a diffuser and touched up with the curling iron. Looks great though, good job
It will just look a lil bit more frizz and less wave
no they didn't they used a diffuser, so techinically that is what it looks like natural
+TheKawaiiQueen yes they did. Did you even watch the video?
+TheKawaiiQueen they did
it also looks like he cut her ends too, then styled it. leaving the ends out is just lazy. there are perms that won't ruin the hair like he did. the only reason I would use olaplex is to stop the perm from penetrating the hair, olaplex without water mixed in. there is so much they didn't show.....I can tell. I've been doing hair for a good while now. like 20 years
I don't know ab yall in the comments but I love it 😂 I want my hair like that
Same, like its so voluminous an the waves are big?
@@rapunzel9429 mee too lol 😭
Same cuz my hair is flat af lmao
I find it so funny at the end they are like what do we call this new perm style??! like they invented it. body wave perm. its a freaking body wave perm
Right? I went to beauty school in 1991, I've wrapped a billion perms! ;) Guy can color circles around me but I can out perm him anyday... lol
+Meredith Hitt, maddogmere +100500 exactly what im feeling...he so cool in colors...but seems he did perm first time in his life
exactly what i was thinking. plus perms like that never last long. two weeks after its dropped and it will look like a ball of fuzz on her head. slightly smaller sections, slightly various sizes of rollers, and using an end paper to get in those narky ends would have helped. its too easy to over process when the sections are so big.
The body wave perms I've seen are usually still tighter. I asked if I could get a beach wave perm and was told that they couldn't do it.
DannieGurl1995 because they didn't want to be responsible for the fact that it would come out within a week.
sorry, but that's not the end result from that curlers, I don't buy it at all ! This is iron curled. You can see every little step except when he takes the curlers out! Tell me why?
I thought the same thing! He usually shows all of his steps but for some reason left that out. Odd.
I think because of her face it didnt came out as they touch thats why they dont show it
They should at least delete this video 🤷🏻♀️🙄
Its ugly tho sooo
No this is how looks like because looks horrible terrible he doesn't even know how to wrap the hair to ne looks terrible
Hair fact : her ends are very porous
If I had a dollar for every time he said that
❗️❗️ righttt
Nazreen Bhamjee wow your cool
Lol annoying
Take a shot everytime he says porous
Brilliant but I would of liked to see what it looked liked when you took the curlers out and started to dry her hair.
mermaid perm? lol she looks like a beautiful mermaid
+flugelmations YESS
+flugelmations yaaaaaaassss
YESSSS
Definitely agree with mermaid perm!
.
honestly it doesn't look as great as I thought it would. I thought it be a curly kinky fro. it just looks like Curls done with a big curler and teased to high heavens.
+Seth Synvalo yeah, I get it. i didn't think that style look that great. I think they were going for a lilly ghalichi hair look but it was dry and not good lookinh5
+Seth Synvalo *looking
+Iheartdolls4ever Yeah. Effortless.
+Iheartdolls4ever Exactly My Point. In My Opinion She Wasted Her Whole Time. It Doesn't Even Look Like She Got Her Hair Done.
I agree
I love this!!! I’ve been wanting this since the early 90s. My stylist couldn’t pull it off and made me get a bald spot. I try to get waves w/ flat irons and curling irons but, doesn’t hold. This is what I NEED!!!
Thank you for the tutorial! What is the size of the rods?
I think Tidal Wave is a cute name for this. Looks lovely. :)
I love that name! ❤😍❤ Tidal Wave!! I got a perm a year a half ago, because I am one of those unfortunate souls that my hair does not like to curl.... I wish I would have known about Olloplex then, might have saved me from so much damage and breakage!
That is a good name for this process....Tidal Wave. This is a time saving application process too. Great idea.
The front of it was hit with a curling iron FOR SURE!!
drinking game: take a shot every time he says porous
or if youre hardcore take a shot every time he makes a comment about her ends
Fuck now I'm drunk
Or if you have a death wish you could also take a shot every time he said head.
Came out pretty, but hard to watch this guy, hes trying way too hard. Overkill!
Hi fellow stayyy! Jisung is my bias!
Dude where’s my liver
She looks like she has a lions main I love it! She has so much body in her hair it's gorgeous!!
I don't think her hair was basic......I think it was just straight and had a little volume
Jess Crafts y'all need to learn how guy talks he don't mean nothing by it
Jess Crafts he was joking
Ariel Brooks fr
Jess Mae yeahhh!
Jelly Doobz I think her hair looked better before
All that work and I was expecting a better result.
Glad I'm not the only one who thought this.
me too
Yeah, it looked dull and poofy. Not a good look
Same here
+lee bags
maybe thats how they look right after and then they smooth out after like two washes or so? this permanent shit usually looks intense at the beginning
I have wanted LARGE curls, even in the 80's, so glad someone has finally figured it out!
Nice job!!
What size are this flexi rolls?
Do you know how to do black people hair? Like do you know how to style it or dye it. Just out of curiosity
+totaldramaisland906 ua-cam.com/video/RMhYQ-x55R4/v-deo.html
+Guy Tang Holy hell you are God of Hair :O
+micky8701 Hair that black people have.
Not all black people have the same kind of hair.
I love you and your skill on hair, I wish I could afford to have you transform my hair.
Why don't you ask if he needs more models? If you are interested in leaving up to him what to do... :)
This is a 16 min vid yet there are ppl who comment within the first 3 mins of upload saying shit like " omg those curls are so beautiful" like bitch did you even watch the video?
+Master Piano sometimes I skip to the end result because i'm impatient tbh xD but I doubt everyone did that but maybe some
they probably fast forwarded to the end
skip to the end
He also posted this on insta a while ago. So if you follow Guy everywhere you already saw it.
+VintageFlowerChild me lol
Omg can I make it at home? What are the products you used please?
Any of my friends who have like wavy or curly hair are like
I love your hair! It's so straight!
And I'm just "um...ok"
I mean like I like my hair straight but I'd kinda like to have wavy hair! 😂
same
Abby Winters SAAAAAME
Abby Winters SAME
Abby Winters my hair is super straight as well. In a mall once a guy tried to sell me a staightener and when I told him I don't straighten my hair he looked at me like I was lying through my teeth ROFL. Oh well....
Abby Winters I wish I had straight hair, it's way easier to take care of ot
im glad my hair looks like this naturally ahah. like it heps my self esteem knowing other people want it!
+Yasmin Garcez I'm so jealous i wish i had hair like that! feel beautiful and lucky
me too and I still dont like it cuz it is such a hassle to manage! ^.^
i have hair like that too but I find it really hard to manage..... :(
Hahah I agree with the others, I have this hair as well and it's a pain to manage.
me too and i wish it were straight cuz when i comb it it'll get super poofy D:
I just called you basic, BUT WHOOOO LETS DO YOUR HAIRRRRR HAHAHA
Lol yeah and they kept throwing shade about her being a cosmetology student
+Victoria Gordon i might get a little hurt if he said that to me
Chisato Minami I'm sure a lot of people do, but like most hair dresses they like to take the approach where they make you insecure about what you have so they can give you that expensive thing "Everybody else wants" or thats "trendy"
You're never a client to these people, you are a paycheck.
But then he said his hair was also basic so 😟
Back in the 80’s when perms were very popular I remember asking why can we get a much bigger roller so that the curls can be bigger and not so tight small curls. I guess I was ahead of my times.
assistant's hair looked curled not naturally curly. i could be wrong
I bet it's naturally curly but she touched up the pieces. At the root it looks like it has some texture which makes me think it's natural.
Lol that's what I was saying; she does have naturally curly hair, but she just wand curled it or with a flat iron or maybe with a barrel.
she styled and formed them..
doesn't make them unnatural
She likely has naturally curly hair but Im pretty sure she created the curl pattern with bendy rods.
+Ciara Turner exactly. That's NOT all natural!
I'd rather have straight hair. Am I basic?
I would to.And no.
yes
If that what's your born with rock it! You can do whatever you want!!!
We always want what we don't have. I have straight hair, fine and without body. I would love to have natural curl.
Not you exactly.
It looked more like bedhead. Sorry! Just my opinion
It looks wavy?
I agree with you
Honestly I think it looks like bedhead because she isn't wearing makeup, and isn't wearing a nicer outfit. If she was dolled up, she would have Beyonce hair and look bomb.
+missesladyrose still looks like beadhead
Corona: "look how easy that looks, you could do that at home"
😭🤣
How'd it go?
Lillian Lilo great!! Looks like I have beach waves! Honestly didn't smell as bad as everyone claims. Didn't fry my hair bad, did a lot of research bought a Quantum brand acid perm from Amazon. You'll definitely want a friend to help there were a few rollers in the back I didn't quite get well 😅 overall tho very happy will definitely do it again
Aaah 😂😂😂
Im cackling ! Lmfao! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
pssssh that aint her natural curl...trying to act like it is. you use a wand. dont lie.
??? Maybe for touch ups to bring it out more but umm yeah that's real
+Luísa Souza defined curls don't look like that but okay
Not really - I mean, I'm sure she has naturally curly hair because of the root texture... but the curls themselves are definitely wand curls - you can tell because the size of the curl is so uniform and consistent which doesn't really happen... especially with looser curl patterns like that.
I mean, I don't think there's anything wrong with it... I do my curly hair that way too... but it ain't natural. It can be frustrating for people just learning how to manage their curly hair seeing so many people say their curls are natural when they were enhanced with a wand.
+molecularmicro exactly!! i know its not natural because i curl my curly hair the same way!! hahahah
She uses a wand. She might actually have natural curls tho but from the looks of it I think she's claiming that's her curly hair
It's funny, when I hear perm I think of curly hair going straight lol
Amira Liela Me too, that's what the girls in my neighborhood called it as a child.
In the 70's and 80's that was called anti-perm! Curls = perm, removing curls = anti-perm! :)
Me too! But it's actually a relaxer ☺️
My edges always come out straight but the rest of my hair is curly.
That's a relaxer. Perm is curly relaxer is straight.
you, out of all people, should know that it's a HUGE hair no no to do a perm right after a hair color. it's either one or the other, or else her hair would melt.
Well her hair is still on her head and she loves it!😃
Well that is great to hear! I'm a cosmetology student so I'm just going by what I've learned.
Not just Save but you’re MAXIMIZING treatment and result 🙀😻 Love it!
He says porous like 20 times!! ( I don't know if I spelt porous right so if I got it wrong sorry)
The hair looks absolutely beautiful #amazing I love u GUY Tang!
I love you ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Omg I want Nora's hair!!!!
me too!!
I think she looks fabulous. Full of volume! Wow I love it. Great job!
Those end papers dabbed on a damp sponge when you pick up enables you to use one hand and saves sooo much time! Been doing that for 20+ years
Ive never done a perm or seen a perm done until today and even I was like...um..sponge...lol
Dude! Did you get your own shop!?!?!!! If so , congrats! Well deserved!!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Meaning like a bigger one than you had.
+nicole osullivan he thanks the salon who let them use the space at 16.30 :)
+nicole osullivan yed
he still rents his booth:)
I used to be made fun of for having thick brows but now everybody loves them and wants em.
exactly lol
yeah its amzing what happens when something becomes a trend
+Daniela Dellavecchia people are getting false hairs surgically implanted into their faces because their brows won't grow back in after plucking them for years.
Neon F.C. its ridiculous the extent people go to , i think as a child we all get teased about something
+smiley same here.
Usually I love guy Tang hair. But this style reminds me of my struggles back in school with my hair looking like a shrub on my head...
I don't remember when bullying became cool.
chill
+Cal Matthews ikr
how basic of you to get triggered over a word.
reagan coughlin lol
He was being sarcastic i think you have taken it personally
What they said about cosmetology students is so true lmao. You can go in saying you'll never dye your hair but it always ends up happening.
You know she’s crying in the car on the way home to go straighten it
Madison Murdock really
what?! I would die to have her hair lol it looks amazing
@@NishStorm me too, it is beautiful.
I would cry if my hair looked as flat as yours from your profile pic.
What if the hair is very textured already? Could this possibly be used to relax the pattern of the curls?
I would say perm hair that needs more volume or body
See, mine is a natural 80's spiral lol
I'd love to have something less coiled, but still curly. I really goofed and had done keratin relaxing treatments. The regrowth is just as, if not more tightly coiled than before.
Think Darlene from Roseanne mixed with Shirley Temple ;)
+Ashia Bright obviously
+Lucy Furr thank you :)
Maybe with the miracle of Olaplex the damage could be controlled?
Perms for people a corse hair texture looses your curl pattern to make it more manageable
I have such a dirty mind when they were talking about the rods
I thought I was the only one 😂
"you could do alot of things with these rods " lol
Me tooo....
Same
11:45
Right, yeah... only true Ancient Greece kids remember Medusa... Stefani looks kind of uncomfortable with the condescending attitude
ancient greek mythology, only 80's kids remember.
Im a greek 😂
Bouncy. Loose. Texture. Love it. [Maybe] for a more lasting result and more texture, I personally would use 1 smaller rod, 1 large rod alternated throughout, rather than just one size rod, with slightly smaller sections taken.
It was a lovely result though, for your client, and a great way to add change.
Can you do hair tutorial on your assistant's hairstyle? I have curly hair and would love to see it.
Biiitch that ain't "naturally curly"😂😂😂
that's what I thought! :D I thought I was the only one who sees it even though it's totally obvious imo :D
Ik it’s so obvious
My hair is naturally curly like that lol I fucking love it .
She has it stretched
Ediwow
I love watching this type of videos omg
The best perm job I have EVER seen so far!
How many times can you say the word "porous" in a video? 😂
Lisa Löfgren or "rods"? 😂
Or "penetrate" lol
HER behavior WAS SO DIFFERENT AND MUCH MIRE CONFIDENT! HER HAIR LOOKS THOUSANDS OF TIMES BETTER THAN BEFORE!
She was scared at first
