Thank you for posting. I'm thinking of getting a used model year as yours. Any other issues with the car other than basic maintenance? For a high end luxury car it seems like they are fairly easy to maintain. Your videos are helping a lot of people out there. Please keep up the good work. Truly appreciate it.
Hi thanks for the feedback. Basic maintenance on these is pretty straight forward. The only issue I have had was the front wheel bearings that should have lasted longer IMO but replacing was not difficult, I have a video on this.
Thats for the videos on the D4. It's true that there are none for D4. I was trying to find how to replace the light bulb on the right hand side rear cigarette lighter in the centre console.. seems that the bulb felt off cause there is still power on the outlet and I hear something moving around when I am driving.
hi mike! how is the a8 holding up with the petrol 4,2l v8? i am thinking to daily drive one all year around but i dont want a garage queen that breaks all the time but i want to be able to drive it reliable too
No just these few videos. I don't see a service schedule for the serpentine belt in the manual either so not sure when it is due. Just had a quick look, with the front engine cover removed there appears to be a fair amount room between the belt tensioner and fans. I was able to get a 3/8 drive ratchet on the tensioner and the service manual states to turn it clockwise to remove the belt. Hope this helps.
Thanks. Mine is squealing and just trying to determine a way to get to it without removing the nose. Your two videos on air filters and spark plugs save me a ton. Many thanks.
Hi this is mentioned around 7min30sec but they are NGK 5547 (PFR6WTG) from RockAuto, listed there as actual OE part. You can also get Audi brand at FCP Euro for a bit more.
Thanks, I just ordered these plugs. Will be replacing this weekend along with air filters, wipers and cabin filter. 63k miles on the 2011 A8 4.2 short wheelbase. Need to replace the front sway bar because the bushings are shot, possibly need to do the lower control arms too. Lots of noise coming from them.
Good luck. Ya I am starting to get noise from the front also, not had a look yet. I plan to do the serpentine belt soon also, just don't see it in the schedule list but will do it at 100k km (62k miles) anyway.
Engine light came on my 2011 Audi A8L and I took the car to autozone to get a engine reading I was told the cylinder 1,2, &8 was miss firing I change all the spark plugs and torque each plug to 190 inched-pounds but the engine light is still on and the car hesitate some times.. what should do
I have never disconnected the battery to change spark plugs, as long as the ignition is off their should not be any power going to the coils. I did not get any codes generated when I did mine.
@@mikesgarage1518 on what part of the spark plug did you put the grease? You kinda moved it below the camera so it didnt get the shot..and also, is it possible to use NGK iridium spark plugs?
@@mdzautomotive I put it on the top part of the ceramic portion of the plug. I got the NGK's from Rock Auto as they are labeled as the actual OE part however they do have some Iridium listed just don't see NGK, only Autolite, Champion and Denso.
Thanks for the videos. My 2015 A8L is just about ready for its 55k service (spark plugs and serpentine belt). Great information!
mike, another great video brother keep them coming there's a lot of us D4 owners out here HELP lol

No anti-seize on the plug threads?

It's been pretty good, only at 89k miles so time will tell.
Mike, do you have a video on replacing the serpentine belt on the A8 D4?

What spark plugs did you use? model ?
Thanks!

Mike,
Do you need to adjust the gap with those OEM NGK plugs that you used?
Thanks
No I did not need to set the gap, they came preset however I did check them first.

Hi for a first step I would swap the coils for 1,2 &8 (mark each coil) for other cylinders and see if the issue follows the coils.
Mike, any reason to disconnect battery before hand? Would doing so throw any codes?
I have never disconnected the battery to change spark plugs, as long as the ignition is off their should not be any power going to the coils. I did not get any codes generated when I did mine.
Can somebody please tell me how I belad my brake on audi a8l quattro
Do you still reply to the comments? This is from 2 years ago, I have a couple questions..
yep will do my best to answer

@@mikesgarage1518 thank you
Do I have to disconnect the battery before starting?
For just the spark plugs, I don't feel it is necessary
Liked for "sorry about the view"
Hi Mike, I am trying to replace these spark plugs, but don't know the socket size. Thanks.
Hi you will need a 5/8" spark plug socket.
Thanks.
