Thank you so much for the video. And about procedures with the OBD-II scan tool for transmission temperature and level check? Does it apply to your Audi model? Did you make the Transfer case, common oiling with front final drive oil change also?
Should I go like this: ATF Temperature, checking: Automatic Transmission Fluid temperature needs to be within a specified range when checking the fluid level. See your Factory Repair Manual for the range for your vehicle. [Select] [02 - Auto Trans] [Meas. Blocks - 08] Set group to "005" (Maybe group 002 or 004 in some vehicles - again check the Repair Manual). [Go!] The value in field 1 should be ATF temp in °C.
is there a way to flush the fluid on the torque converter? on my tundra, I disconnected the line going to the ATF cooler, and drained it there, and then refilled. I understand that it uses 9 liters, but you can only drain about 6 liters just replacing the filter. What about the other 3 liters, any way to get them out? Thanks!
Awesome video thanks for sharing, will be doing this soon. Your exhaust flex pipes look way better than mine, I had to replace them a while back. By the way, what year is your A8 and at what mileage did you do this service?
I noticed your filter hung down, my new one when I did my change also hung down but the original was snapped into a bolt head with that black mount on top of tranny filter??my new filter did not "snap" to valve body like OEM, any issues that could arise from installing hanging filter? Thanks
@@DIYDime is it possible there was an O-ring on the original filter that should have been transferred to the new filter when changing it and that's why the new filter hung loosely?
@@DIYDime Thank you kind sir! EXCELLENT video! I hope you make more for this D4 A8! I would love to see one on changing the front differential/transfer case fluids. (The rear change was easy). You are a credit to UA-cam my friend!!
That is what I expect from an Audi Dealership! Try Every 35k and 40K miles... The recommendation is do it at 35 and 40, 75 and 80, 115 and 120. Bad fluid destroys the transmission and I am sure Audi would like you to pony-up the cash to replace one for (estimate) $15,000 ASAP.
This is outstanding and such a timely answer. You Sir are a Saint!
Wish you were my next door neighbor👍
Always make sure your fill plug comes out BEFORE you drain!

Did you have to support the engine when removing the cross member where the two motor mounts are? Please let me know
No
How much transmission oil did you drain and refill? Does it have 4.0 or 3.0 engine?
great video !!!! would you happen to have the part numbers for this job ? filter, gasket, oil ?

I'm sure there is a way to get complete oil out but unfortunately I don't know.
Should the engine be running during the final fill step?

How many liters did you need? Nice job 👍
What size socket did you use the move the bottom frame off
Don't remember.

As long as it’s OEM filter you should be fine.

New filter has new O-ring already
Do all the brands of new filters come with the magnets or do you re-use the old ones?
John Doe
Brand new filter comes with new magnets
Do you have the Audi spec number for the fluid? Thank you!!

James Sundelius I did replace timing chains on this engine. Just didn’t have time yet to get the video together but I will soon
@@DIYDime Great! Have you ever done the front diff or AWD case fluid? These A8's are great cars.
@@jamessundelius6567 yes
Maybe I missed it but did you mention how many miles/km you had on this transmission, and how many miles/km between your fluid change?
140 000 miles
How much atf (litre) for this car?
Roll Channel
8.6Liters (9.1 qt)
Nice video! Do you just add fluid until it flows out? Do you have to adjust the fluid level later?

Great work Sir. Respect for you.. wana ask if gearbox of 2014 a8 d4 4.2tdi 385ps is same like your gearbox.. ?
It’s probably not same
@@DIYDime you think to my gearbox I better change oil, and do gearbox flush or just change the oil.. ?
Change fluid
@@DIYDime Thank you brother..
You didn’t fill trans fluid to operating temp….
You didn’t read description to the video!
The guy at Audi dealership told me you don't have to change the fluid
