The curve was also changed to reduce excessive wear on the wheels. I rode this since opening day and the wheels were melting on this due to the extreme forces in the turn. The reprofile of the turn has helped but they have a water system than turns on to help cool them down when needed..
Look, I'm an adrenaline junky who loves heights, I've done all the major rollercoasters, skycoasters, skydiving, everything you can think of and I've never had an issue with getting sick or passing out. Unfortunately this changed after riding this, the extreme G force and change in blood pressure caused me to feel very sick and I got ringing in my ears and gold spots in my vision, there are tons of reports of completely healthy people passing out on this ride so being a "wimp" has nothing to do with it. I think it has to do with your body and it being able to adjust your blood pressure quickly enough...
I rode this one over the weekend. The first time I kept my eyes closed and did a bit of screaming, but the second time I was convinced to keep my eyes open and had the pleasure of watching my friend blackout for a few seconds after the first drop. I didnt fully black out, but at one point things began to grey out...I laughed a bit and things cleared up for me. Very first time I was ever closed to blacking out in life...I really dont know how to feel about it. I will definitely ride the ride again with no hesitation. lol
Dude... I've been filming coasters for years and I just have to say... your POV ride videos kick the shit out of mine. So it looks like you film each coaster with a handheld camera and a GoPro strapped to your body? Dude, your videos just turn out beautiful! I would almost like to just see your handheld camera footage just from a fellow roller coaster filming nerd just to see how straight you managed to hold it on a ride like that! Lmfao the Intimidator was almost as hard to hold onto your handheld camera as Kinda Ka and Top Thrill Dragster! But honestly, I tried filming the Intimadator 305 with a head strap mount for my GoPro and everything but it still isn't as good as your footage. Seriously mad respect to you man for managing to take way better video that I can manage with 15+ years of experience. I would love to buy you a beer or dinner sometime! Have a great night man!
checkout my indiana Jones coaster video and my other coaster videos from Disneyland. they are used just straight from the handheld. I did however film some with my gopro mounted on the coasters at Disneyland and DCA but those are separate videos. Some of my older videos like look at Lagoon or SFMM I have some that are strictly handheld.
Rose this for the first time today. I was amazed at how intense it was and also how short the line was compared to other rides. No complaints though. I can definitely understand why people grey out on this now haha. 5 stars!!
I actually rode this four times (the first time was literally my first time) yesterday and this hands down was the best coaster I have and will ever rode.
If you guys notice at 1:06, you can see that Kings Dominion widened the radius of the first curve up to the 150 ft hill. This is to reduce the amount of G-force on riders' bodies during ride time; therefore, it makes it more comfortable to ride. However, this really does make you black out for a second or two. 90 mph down that first drop, that is going to be very intense.
Tony Kim The curve was also changed to reduce excessive wear on the wheels. I rode this since opening day and the wheels were melting on this due to the extreme forces in the turn. The reprofile of the turn has helped but they have a water system than turns on to help cool them down when needed..
I'm glad I live close to KD. Going there tomorrow with my bff. We tried to ride this ride last year but after going on the drop tower we knew we weren't ready. But tomorrow our goal is too finally go on the intimidator!
OMG I can't believe you caught that! The even scarier part is I didnt say im going to make this video 3:05 to go with the name of the coaster. That just happened to work out but even more I didnt even notice that until you said something! Its like were in the Twilight Zone or something. Wow great find! That worked out good!
The super tight turns and transitions on this ride makes it in-freakin-credible!! The first drop is amazingggg, and that ejector airtime on the second hill is out of this world. Nothing can compare. Also, i305 knows how to maintain it's speed for sure. Absolute 10/10. I do love airtime, especially on b&m, but rides that were made for speed makes everything much more intense!
@@adrenaline_thrillz7175 It depends on your body's constitution. Make sure to eat healthy that day, avoid alcohol, and stay hydrated if that's a concern for you. Also take breaks between laps. On the other hand, I always marathon the coasters when I can.
We were there last Saturday. Not busy at all rode it 6 times...great ride. Best ride in the park,2nd best wold have to be Volcano but the wait is a killer on that one.
I went to Kings Dominion Monday and rode this ride with my brother and his girlfriend and my nephew. This was the most intense roller coaster at the park. I was scared to death, but it was fun at the same time. It jerked me around a little bit though, which hurt. I didn't black out on the ride, but my brother did. He got on it a second time while I rode a different coaster. I will definitely have to ride this again the next time I go there.
I rode that twice. It was so fun, and hilarious to watch my bother, who is older than me, scream bloody murder and curse while I scream of joy. I LOVED it. I first went on it when I was 11, I think. Then again last year, and I'm totally going on it this year. Riding the Intimidator is going to be my tradition now.
@@1Zymir Well. Imagine falling but you're strapped to a weight and also you have a weight on your head. I may have had the time of my life but I couldn't even keep my head up on the drop. It's basically a straight down fall. I really recommend going on it.
I love when you ride a roller coaster that's so fast and exerts so many positive g's that they have to spray the wheels with water when it gets back to the station!
deathbyillusion I have ridden Goliath at SFMM several times, and never once, greyed or blacked out, even though my friends and family do. Does the 5 mph difference make it that more extreme?
Ive went on this ride and its super fun because of the way you plunge because if feels like the coaster will fall off cause of how steep it is the track is
My whole choir is going to kings dominion next year and I'm so pumped! I get to ride a whole bunch of rollercoasters with my friends! I don't want to look like a wimp so I HAVE to go on this. I don't want to be left behind. I will try it :) seems scary, but something tells me to get on it haha!
Yes, a grey out makes your vision white and murky. This happens at 4-6 G's, where the blood leaves your head. In a blackout, you lose all vision, but retain consciousness.
When i went on this i went back on it literally 15 more times because the line was actually short. I went in the front, the middle, and the back multiple times. It was fun
The history of "dialing in" the Intimidator 305 is interesting, though it's not discussed in this video. Folks who've ridden this coaster are likely familiar with the experience of "grey-out" or "stars" at the first air-time hump, just after the initial drop. However, this coaster's first season riders endured blackout-inducing forces after the drop AND grey-out for the remainder of the ride. The Intimidator 305 was just too fast! Crazy fast! Rider complaints of unpleasant sensations due to the high momentum over the course of the track raised concern about ride safety. It took ride engineers several attempts (colloquially called "revisions") to tweak the coaster's speed at critical points in the ride. Engineers added trim brakes, along with a subtle change to track at the first bank turn, to lower the speed and lessen the cause of blackouts this point in the ride. Additional trim brakes were added to lessen the cause of shoulder/neck injury and potential grey-outs further along the track. Despite the changes during Intimidator 305's first season, the train still runs plenty fast today--sometimes too fast for the algorithm of the ride computer: the trim brakes can be felt on occasion! Riders still remark about experiencing "grey-out" or "stars" after recovering from that 305 foot drop. While the current ride experience is intentionally less rigorous than its original incarnation, the Intimidator 305 is no less thrilling! It is a very well-designed roller coaster and worth a visit to Kings Dominion to experience it.
Looked like a fun ride, but I wonder how tall that rollercoaster is. Watching these kind of videos is cool but really makes me miss my theme park experiences. I wish I lived close to a theme park. I'd never be bored in the summer.
Megan Dailey Oh wow I should've known, thanks for tellin me. It does look kind of scary, but I believe it's a fun ride. How often do you get to go to Kings Dominion?
+Brace Brooks I've only been maybe three or four times, and all but my last time were before this ride was built. But last time I went I got on twice because it was so awesome lol. But typically I get to go to one park per summer, usually Hershey or KD. But I got to go to both Kings Dominion and Hershey this year, within the same weekend because I went to KD with my boyfriend, sister and brother in law, and to Hershey for my job's annual park trip.
Megan Dailey Wow good for you. You're really blessed and priviledged. Altho I have the $ to go to theme parks I often don't have a way there. I have no car, and the closest theme park to me is 6 flags Great America near Chicago, IL. Even if I had a car, I'd get lost trying to go there (unless I had a gps) It's a little over 1 hour from where I live (Chicago's south suburbs) And I've been 2 it in 2000 when I was 11, and in 2012 when I was a 23 with 2 new female friends. I've went to Mall of America's theme park Nickolodean Universe the last 2 years, but it sucked not havin friends with me there. Hope I didn't annoy you with all those words, but I hope you and I both get to experience theme park outings more often, I would help finance you to if I were rich enough. Thanks for takin time out to share that with me tho.
There isn't really a way to prevent it. I went on this ride just recently and after the hill, my vision turned dark grey but it comes back after a few seconds. I felt a little strange after the ride and blacking/ greying out is not something you should be concerned about as it goes away quickly and if you really aren't comfortable with that happening I wouldn't go on the ride because it's pretty intense.
+Cubix Rube there is no danger from a gray out, which is the common result of a sustained positive Gforce if you're prone to completely lose consciousness that's a whole different thing and you might want to see a Dr
Bro I remember getting on this ride for the first time, and I was already regretting it by the time I put my seatbelt on. When we went down, my heart popped outta my mouth and its like i swallowed it again. Then we got on a second time, and I was like: piece a cake. It's funny cuz for the first time, In the pictures I looked contorted, and the guy behind me looked like was possessed for real! Hahhhahhahahahahahaahahhaahhaahhaahahahahhahahahahaa. But overall, I loved this ride. Will never forget it.
Didn't know McDonald's build their own coaster lol. The speed of the ride should be faster than this. I like how the Intimidator 305 has that race car sound effect at beginning of the ride. They should build another layer of track with another train and have them race against each other. No more waiting in 2 hour lines!
3 minutes and five seconds...I see what you did there
Yeah lol
Lol
i always IMMEDIATELY regret my decision when the guy screams "start you're engines." and then i get on again lmaooo.

I grayed out on this rollercoaster before
darlin ramirez happened to me and my brothers too
it is one of the most intense coasters on earth. Only for expert coaster enthusiasts
i sat in the middle so i did not black out

They are, lol rode it today
They weren't, the only thing that hurts is if you put your arms up on the high speed turns, causes days of sore shoulders lol
Amy Rogers I rode it yesterday and my neck still hurts.

Just squeeze your legs and stomach for the few intense seconds. The keeps your blood from going from your brain to your feet.
Good ride, but the colors of the track remind me of McDonald's too much.
Ikr
Haha your right. Never thought of that before!
XD ikr! Lol
Nit Picker what would be the best color scheme for you?
Nit Picker I think it's one of the only rides with this color scheme that pulls it off without reminding me of McDonalds. But that's just my opinion.

TØP Addict it really is 305 feet look it up
i never get tired of this ride. best coaster at the whole park for me.
This ride makes a kid from my youth group black out every time he rides it, yet he rides it non-stop. Go big or go home I guess!
This ride makes a lot of people black out. The forces in the turn are to high to sustain for as long as it does.
Blacking out isn't that bad. It's pretty much just going to sleep for a second. No pain involved.

ColeCraft nevermind i didnt read carefully
this is the best ride ever
Hope those new vids are coming soon! They help to make the stress from school work go away
Great POV man. This ride is such an animal! I absolutely love riding it everytime I go to KD :)
It seems so weird to be experiencing the POV without the picture going black on the first hill after the turnaround.

Your up and over the drop before you can even think about what you signed up for, the cable lift doesn’t mess around!
i like the roller costers that you go on
I lost vision at the very bottom. Super weird experience. I was fully conscious for the drop, then blackness. This blip was really short though.
Best time to ride this is at night, front seat.
yeah cause they have no lights in the track area and it's so dark.
how did you even record that lol???
I remember when I went it was fun im also going on it today on a field trip!!
I’ve gone on it the 2 drop makes me blackout more than the first
You ain't lying the first drop wasn't bad it was the two for me the up and down motion that got me.
@shadowflame it is a smooth ride at Carowinds in between North and South Carolina.
the second drop is more intense than the first one tbh
Question: If I wear glasses on this ride, will I still blackout?
My 8 year old Daughter rides this ride no problem...man up people ! ;)
typically how long is the line wait for this ride? im going on the opening day
I can't really say as when traveling always get Fast Lane Pass. Anyone else know about the wait times for this typically?
Rynnliaa This may be late, but typically for any seat other than front, about 30 mins
What is the average wait for this?
When I went I only waited 5-10 minutes
Donovan Mullen :D

Ok a average operating day, it is usually a 30-45 minute wait. On a busy day it is most likely 45-65 minute wait. ;)
When i go it's like 10 minutes

You will get that on any rollercoaster. That's mainly why people black out. The g force is insane..
CupcakeMadness oh ok. And sheikra at Busch gardens doesn't have that stomach feeling

May I use this footage for an April Fools' video involving "dangerous roller coasters? I will give you full credit.
Is it named after Dale Earnhardt because it has all those break-neck turns?
Rode this 10 times and blacked out 3 times.
this ideo was knearly 3:05
That made me go on the ride it was fun
Nobodys going to mention how the video is 3:05 minutes long?
How it feels to chew 5 gum
*shows intense overbank*
New 5 gum. Stimulate your senses.
intentional or not, this videos duration is 3:05
Funny thing is that it was unintentional lol and then realized I edited it like that lol.
No more waiting in 2 hour lines!
can i ask out of all the Coaster you been what is your top 5 ?
Millennium Force, Outlaw Run, El Toro, I305, X2, & Maverick...... So far.
awesome views of... trees.
This is the only ride that ever made me black out lol
It was the first times I ever rode roller coasters, this was the 3rd one I rode, it was fucking insane!
