All of the farmers who keep saying, "ahh, I've been here for 7 generations!" "I've been here since the Vietnam war." Those are blips on the radar compared to how long the tribes have been on this land. It's theirs and the fact you get any water, you should be incredibly grateful.

A third generation farmers rights really dont mean anything compared to that of natives. You tried, it isnt working. Time to get out.

The tribes which depend on the Klamath River have suffered for decades. The salmon runs continue to get worse as the overall health of the river system declines. Meanwhile, the farmers in the Klamath Basin seem to be blissfully unaware of how their livelihood impacts entire cultures. I'd happily give up the "convenience" of farmed food if it meant that the tribes could have decent fishing seasons once again. How long are we honestly going to keep treating the indigenous people of the United States as mere afterthoughts? As someone who has Cherokee blood I can truthfully state that I find the current state of affairs to be intolerable.

???? If you would happily give up the "convenience" of farmed food maybe you should move to LA, NY or Houston and start hunting for your food. What afterthoughts you are talking about if the tribes got all of the water rights?

you are a very ignorant girl. You have no idea where your food comes from. my ancestors which include Cherokee grandmothers and European Grandfathers settled this territory. The promise for all the hardship they endured was land, farmable land, with water. Now they want to change that. If you had to feed yourself you would starve.....

Time for a new way to make money. They took all the trees so the logging died. They took all the salmon now commercial fishing is dead. They drained the watershed now there is no farming..

The Karuk have not been there for thousands of years….they aren’t even recognized as an indigenous tribe by the US government. They were a band of Gypsy Indians of multiple tribes that ended up on the middle Klamath. Never a historical tribe.
