Is it possible to say, in hindsight, that FIOE is one of the best albums they've ever made? When I first heard it, when it came out, my initial reaction was "this does not sound very much like ITI or, my biggest favorite, ROF, so I'm not interested." I was a limited listener back then. And I guess most of us wanted another ITI or ROF anyway. But later I gave the album some more spins (bought the CD with takeout photo cards a few days after the release), and gradually fell more and more in love with it, and it became my third most favorite Srokes album. It's got its own charm with such variety, maturity and, let's face it, again, initially most of us didn't like the production... but now it feels so great, doesn't it? So the album might feel a little bloated, but you know what? Now I wouldn't have left anything off of it. Yes, at that same time they also recorded Hawaii, which did not find its place on the album - but it gave The Strokes one of those classic B-sides, and beside Modern Girls And Old-Fashioned Men the band does not have much original B-sides anyway ;)
Julian sounds like he slept a good 8 hours and has stopped drinking.
Agreement.
he did stopped drinking though
pretty sure he was already sober or in the process of getting sober right around the time when FIOE came out
I love the Strokes, they come up with some great melodies and ideas.
Take a shot every time he says 'you know'

@@brohemian Tranny xD What gave you that impression?
@@brohemian you are on some other kind of level of stupid my friend.
@@fordyce94 strong argument
@@MoonchildMindaugas2 to be honest Hawaii isn't an original B-side, is a common rip off, thought I liked it.
@@duvan-solis I love it :) Rip-off of anything specifically? What do you mean by not entirely original?
I hope you guys know the cover of this album is actually a vinyl record turned sideways.
i always thought it was a riff on the "pale blue dot" photo
