Honestly Brightburn wasnt the best movie. But Taking a horror concept of superman, specifically being a kid and given superpowers. Is actually something pretty cool and interesting. I hope if there is a sequel it only improves. But i hope we get more superhero horrors in the future. This film was also what introduced me too evil versions of superman, which got me more into comics.
I feel like all Brightburn needed was a split personality-esque plot where Brandon is trying to win over the personality of "Brightburn" who is taking over. Have that ship scene be that part of him being awakened that takes over whenever his anger spikes (something not too rare for teens going through puberty). He has outbursts in which he hurts people that are just accidents at first like the girl scene, but after that happens and people start to alienate him more he gives in to that dark side of him more and more as he realizes it's a good way to deal with the people who hurt him since they are inferior to him (he can even see it as a simple food chain). We make him killing his uncle a last moment of his "human" side being horrified at what he's become, thinking that he's killing those he loves now. He tries to fight against it but his parents, being no Kents, have run out of mercy and in fear go along the movie's original plot and try to kill him unsuccessfully. His own human parents trying to murder him being the thing that sends him over the edge on how he'd never be like these humans, he is better than them. That final scene could even be Brandon saying "I TRIED to be good, Mom." To make the mother feel dread that her fate is sealed rather than give her false hope with an "I want to do good, Mom."
Honestly, this would have been a far better plot than what they gave us. Hope they fix that in the sequels, can't wait! Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts :)
I appreciate this video, well said. Nowadays it's mostly triggered incels crying about women or wokeism ruining a movie when the problems always stem from what you highlighted: script and actual plot points (including character development). I agree, fantastic idea for a movie, just wished they had adjusted the way you proposed. Fingers crossed for the second!
The movie was awful. It came out after the “what if Superman but evil?” but had already been done to death in comics to the point I have no idea this movie was greenlit. The parents never seem like they actually love the kid and the kid never seems like he loves them back. It’s awful. Good luck on your UA-cam career with such awful takes
Because he's nothing more than an evil superman...... That's it. The other have the look of superman but are completely different characters.
I agree with you on that, which was my disappointment with the character, they could have done much better with it.
Plutonian will be popular once his story is adapted correctly

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, I agree with you, hope they give the character some depth in the sequel at least and not make him a robot.
