His charismatic yet psychopathic leadership, unpredictable actions, and challenging of superhero norms create a character that is both repulsive and fascinating. To me, what makes Homelander such a compelling character is that he's as much of a victim as he is a victimizer. Making him have distain for normal people because he was never shown any empathy in his childhood makes his actions almost understandable. I know that his character is slightly tweaked for the Amazon series than in the comics to make him more nuanced to carry a long running series, but Homelander's suffering just as much as the people he hurts because of Vought's decision to raise him "like a lab rat." How do you expect someone who have any empathy for those he saves when he was never shown it in the first place? Homelander is much of a tragic character as he is an antagonist.

homelander is a well written villain
Homelander is a perfect villain because the creators of The Boys made sure you are constantly worried about the next time he will lash out and hurt/torture/maim/kill someone. Whenever somebody is in the room with him, they are always on eggshells because they know he could kill them as soon as he gets upset, unless you're exceptionally manipulative like Billy Butcher or Stan Edgar. This is so relatable because this kind of character represents every toxic, abusive person out there who holds power over others and hurts them over any little provocation or mistake or simply because they feel like it. When you create a villain you are terrified of without yourself being a character in the story who is at risk, that is when you have successfully created a perfect villain.

I love that no matter how many videos on Homelander you may watch, there is always another one that furthers how terrifying he is, and saw just another wrinkle in his complex character. In an era where so many villains offer up no real stakes to the story, you can always count on Homelander to deliver not only an incredible scene, but push the stakes further every time he is on camera.
The real question is, why did you "enhance" his face on the thumbnail?

@@MovieF8better would require him to own up to the things hes done and understand he is not a god, that his public image obsession is just copium, and that his current ideals are just a product of what vought has taught him combined with trauma. And just fundamentally change his core values.
In other words hed probably have to have his ego shattered, get humbled immensely and go through the most intense supernatural therapy session that puts tyr from god of war to shame. Sadly unlikely to happen in his environment.

Honestly, The Boys seems to be like the 'Iron Man' of the late 2010s/ early2020s(the series released in 2019), it did something unique and revolutionary in a similar way that Iron Man 2008 did, similar to how Iron Man deconstructed the X-Men Franchise, The Boys deconstructed the MCU, DCEU, and just a majority of characters in the superhero genre, to have a fresh take on them.
He plays homelander so good I cant help but think anthony isn’t as great of an actor as we think, instead he naturally falls perfectly in place
What scares me the most in Homelander, its that hes so unpredictable. He can smile at you poke a little fun at you and 10 sec later squash your head against the wall or laser you in half😮

Just to compare Soldier Boy to Honelander, Soldier Boy is stronger, mentally and physically, don't care about people opinion, but his strong mental made him less unpredictable and less subject to emotion breakdown. The only thing that separates Homelander from most characters that this trope applies to,
is the fact that we really get to explore his character from the his birth to his psyche.
Even then, he's not the only one like this

I think The Boys has Destroyed Marvel. since infinity war fans have been loving Thanos more and The boys did the perfect job making the Villans the main characters hope they don't go woke
