Love the edit at 4:00, I'm watching this at work and thought my IT finally decided I've watched enough Rome 2 content and cut me off. Amazing battle though! Really cool use of the Naked Swords.
I used to do this pontus strat but with pikes instead. Yes it relies on pike stacking which people don't like but they are cheaper than hoplites which allows you to field more capadocian cav or even some cheap levy units to act as a meat shield for missile fire / charges.
Pike stacking in open battle is fine imo. You are dedicating 2 units to 1 task and its not difficult to take advantage of that. Idk why ppl are so mad about it on land battles
I may have taken out: 2 Pontic Swords 2 Celtic Swords 1 Eastern Archer And, instead, filled with Cavalry, perhaps a scythed Chariot or just Capadocian Cav. I would have played the cav around aggressively around the flanks while they are screened by the Horse Skirmishers, and I may have even removed 1 or 2 of the hoplites and opted for another 1 or 2 Naked swords. This strat just basically tries to contain the enemy while allowing the archers free-shots on the Thracian nobles, etc...
whenever I see a players placing his spears in a front line like Pontus did here, I wonder how they cover their flanks against cav attacks Now I know, they don't
Remember when heir picked odryssians vs pontus and got crushed? What do people think about taking mercenary hoplites as odryssians? They seem like the perfect support unit to shore up the weaknesses of the odryssians. Hoplites can absorb frontal cavalry charges and lots of missile. Have a frontline of hoplites with thracian warriors and thracian nobles behind.
the game crashes at about 4:00...I was supposed to edit that out...but hey...blooper real included in this one!
I thought my iPad ran out of charge lmao
lol I thought my laptop shut off randomly
I loved the silence thow, it was quite "atmospheric". Like you was really annoyed and said nothing :)
Thought it was a dramatic pause for ASMR Cinematic moment.
@@senshibat8920 Oh yes, Heir scratching the microphone. It might get a few extra viewers, not sure they are the kind of viewer Heir is hoping for. 😂
I missed these Rome 2 battles. Glad you brought them back! Great battle!
I will be busy covering Chaos Dwarfs, but we aren't leaving Rome 2 :)
Great edit heir! 😂 it was actually pretty charming
Yea...as you can see I sometimes edit as well as I micro my unit.

They’re the most badass unit over there without a doubt

What the crap Heir?!? Where was our traditional greeting lol
lol
I admire the creative build hotel soap tried out, I think would work against a lesser player
It was an interesting build. I enjoyed it.
Thanks for keeping up bringing these Rome 2 battles. They are very relaxing.
If Pontus had more protection for their archers (such as a light cav or maybe a Thureos Spears) i think they would have won. The naked swords rock!!!
They were rocked for sure 😉😏
Very well fought, thank you to both.

Merc hoplites are expensive and take away the killing power of ODK
issue with Sol videos is that if you tell us on which side he is at the beginning, we kinda know who's gonna win
he forgot to edit the vide hahaha
I wanna see ardieai vs odsrysians

Hey Heir, would you ever consider doing a multiplayer game with your subscribers? I love this game and have it and if you’d wanna do it I’d be down
