Evelyn Champagne King- Shame, Love Come Down or I'm in Love. She recorded Shame at age 17. She was a Powerhouse 💯💥👏🏽
Have u seen Evelyn recently on Howard Hewett's youtube channel preparing dinner for Howard & her hubby?
@@rheeryder2524 I've never seen it. I didn't know that Howard Hewitt had a UA-cam channel. Thanks, I will check it out 🙂
Exactly
SHAME IS A CLASSIC
Saw her live before the pandemic! TWICE! She has a great stage presence!!
I have a certain memory of this song now. I was in London in a club called "White Trash" back in the day. I question my judgement because I am Black. Anyway, "Mama Used To Say" comes on. The dance floor was jumping. All of a sudden the sound goes out. No worries. The crowd keeps singing and the dance floor keeps stepping until the DJ gets the sound back in a few seconds. I had a great time that night. We were jamming.
This song was everything in 1982...everytime I hear it, it takes me back to just being a kid..
The 80s was such a good time to be alive...family was really family and friends were really friends...morals+loyal, can’t believe we will never be able to go back
and thats "A Never Ending Story", 😉 Good times
Agreed.
For my money, 1982 was the best single calendar year for popular music, ever.
Prove me wrong.
@@countenanceblog 74, 76, 77,78,79,80!! There YOU GO!
I was 20 when this song came out. I am 59 now. It really seems like yesterday. Don't rush to get old. I am blessed, life is good but time went so fast.
Junior lived in my neighbourhood in Mitcham when I was a kid. I used to see him in the supermarket he would always say hello even when this was a hit here in the uk. Such a great guy.
Cool!
I lusted for Jr. back in the day. Thought he was so cute & loved his voice! LOL
yes yes he was so cool and didnt we come up on the best period !
Cool that's nice to know .😎
@@sunflowerlove6489 YES!!
Johnnie Kemp “Just Got Paid” glad to see you both🙏🏽🙂
Oooh yes please. Good one
They would play this song every Friday on our radio stations...
I was 19 when that song came out. The message was strong.Little Walter was a good song with a message. We need more songs like this❤️❤️❤️❤️
Yes that song had a message
The two princes..... “Don’t rush to get old! Stay as young as you are now and beyond!
McFadden & Whitehead, “Ain’t No Stopping Us Now”
Steve Arrington, “Nobody Can Be You”
The Jacksons, “Show You the Way”
What you know about Steve Arrington!!What!!!❤️❤️❤️
@@helenewortham1840 SAY WHAT!!! Oh please honey - I go waaay back. I remember when Steve Arrington was with Slave, another band that the twins should definitely be turned on to and learn about. Yeah, I’m old - old and blessed - shoot, think I’ll put that on a T-shirt! 😄
@@dinibell preach to me
Way out by Steve Arrington...it is like extraterrestrial!!! Out of this world!
@dinibell awesome choices!!!
Fun Fact: Junior was one of the first British R&B artists to be successful in the United States.😎
This was the jam, and it didn't cost thousands to make videos, its funny to see how simple videos was back then
Facts Sis!!!
AND HOW GREAT THEY WERE
Interesting you should say that, because I was thinking this is pretty sophisticated video for 1982. Specifically, the way the live action moves tracked with the cartoon, and parts of the cartoon going both in back and in front of the live action. Back in 1982, that was state of the art - not something you would expect in a lowly music video.
The drawings were simple, but the motion tracking was impressive.
@@KiloBarb Yes this was actually state of the art technology. Everything we have now started somewhere. 20 years from now, the new generation will laugh at the stuff we have now.
My brother loves this song. Said that it reminds him of all the good advice that my mother would give him/us. RIH mom 💖😥
🙏🏿
@@leebutz4727 Thank you 😊 🙏
My Mom had to tell my brother some what the same thing, because he said, I can't wait to become a teenager. Then my Mom said rules still apply but new ones will be added. 😀
😂
Smart mother!
Haven't heard this in years. I love the fact that it's a smart and affectionate tribute to a mother's wisdom and love that's also a classic jam making your body want to move whether you want to know. So many classic jams are fun but they don't go deeper. This tune manages a great message, a loving tribute, and music that moves your molecules (as Carlos Santana likes to say about good music).
Mama ALWAYS knows best and I miss mine. Jam on all the moms out there.❤👩🦳
My momma & I used to dance barefoot in the living room & laugh & hug. Hold on tight to the memories of your mom. I sure do 💗
This was the Jam back in the early 80s young fellas. 💯
Definitely - and still is!
most definitely! A CLASSIC for sure. Takes me back. :)
For sure, I think I was 10 when this song came out!
AAAAHHHH! You just took me back so fast I got whiplash. Who else was skating back in the day to this? LIVE. YOUR. LIFE!😎
Yesss! Used to jam in my bedroom to this listening to WKTU in NYC.
Oh yeah 😊
“That boy had a nice day”🤣🤣
He must have just got paid 🤣
I love it. One of my favorites. Haven't heard it in a while.
Music with a message...you can relate....❤😍
I’m over here singing my heart out. This the jam🔥
I was 27 when this song came out in 1982. I didn't heed the warning, blinked, and now all of a sudden I'm 66.
I know. Just the other day I turned 62 years old. Time went by in a flash. Peace and blessings
This Used To be jam back in 1982💯💯 Everybody loved this song but great advice Young kings keep up the great work 🙏🏿🙏🏿 God Bless he has another song called Too Late it's cold 🔥🔥
@Denise Dobbs That's because MTV HARDLY ever played ANY black, or people of color video's
Yeah! I forgot about that. Thank you.
Talk about a blast from the past! This was the jam back in the day. 💃 Adding this to my playlist right now 📲 can y’all see it? Lol
Thanks for reminding me of this- I probably have not heard this since the 80s!
Yeah THIS was the jam !!!! I really don't recall too much more from this artist 😔
Loretta Sanchez - Junior did a track called ' Too Late'
Junior is from England. He had a few more minor hits like "Too Late" and "Louise". The reason we didn't hear much from him as he took time out of his career to take care of his wife. She had MS. She passed. Then his daughter had it. He took care of her until she passed a few years back. He can still sing and sounds good. He put his career on hold for family and love.
I love “Look What You’ve Done to Me”!
Yes! This was everything because I wish I could go back in time.
@@adc2327 OMG 🥺 how sad !!! I'll have to listen to those tracks , thanks for sharing 💜
Maaaan. This is STILL a banger. Junior was NO joke! Love y’all. 🤗🤗
That’s my cousin!! That’s crazy, never thought I’d see this on a reaction channel.
That's cool 😎👍🏼!
Good music has no expiry date & can span language differences, borders, time & space..
After reading the comment above about what happened w/his wife & daughter(R.I.P),i can only imagine what his heart's been through..please let him know he's still got love out here
I'll listen to one of my FAVE'S,Morning Will Come,in a whole new light..gonna blare that choon as tribute
Junior Gascombe is from the UK and this was a hit for him in 1982. His nephew Richard Blackwood, the UK soap actor and comedy also had a UK hit with this song titled "Mama - Who Da Man" in 2000
Jr had that serious growl going on! 💃🏻🔥💕
2:34 “All you got to worry about is passing your classes in school”. I’d say your mama did something right!
In memory of Shock G (RIP) you guys should consider reacting to The Humpty Dance by Digital Underground
that or “Same Song” ft Tupac
@@bigjuni2102 thats a REALLY good one too! 2pac started out in tha Underground
Uncensored version!!!
Digital Underground-Humpty Dance
Or Doowutchyalike!! Why does everyone always forget that song?! You gotta be a real fan! 💙 RIP Shock G 🥀✌🏾
I'm pretty sure they watched it on their patreon channel.
Yes! Live your life!
I am so glad to have grown up in the greatest decade for music and I am soi glad that you love it too.
Loved this song as a child!!
Young men - you missed the best years ever! From the 80's to early 2000's music was a great form of expression of daily life, feelings, relationships, etc. Keep up the good work, I enjoy watching your reaction to these classics!
💯
Will never forget watching Soul Train, Don Cornelius started to interview him, and when he started to talk, I almost fell out of my chair. 😆
Right 🤣🤣🤣
Mama is still telling me , thanks mama your the best mom in the world 😍 🥰 it's 20 21 😷 holler at your boy from Texas 🤠😎🐮🐴
U TAKING ME BACK TO MY CHILHOOD WIT THIS 1!💯 LOVE IT😏🖤
“Dat bwoy had a nice day” 😂😂😂
Tim wearing iconic "Phil Collins" tee. 🤩 Cool song. 👍 Thanks guys. 🤗
You guys should react to don't stop the music by Yarborough and Peoples or another Isley brothers song
You should have reacted to some Prince yesterday...it was 5 years since he passed away 💔 THE GOAT...Rest In Peace 💜💜
I was shocked they didn't but probably didn't know like we know. I wish they did Dear Mr. Man by Prince. That song is soooo relevant to this day💜💜. Purple 4ever
💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
they kinda sleeping on Prince a bit.
@@shannonmatheson1587 yeah they just don’t know nothing about Prince 💜
Probably because they know about him and don’t want to fake it? 🤷🏼♀️
Thank you for the Encouragement
Glad how this jam brought some real life conversation out of you guys... Thus what real music does, just like what Quincy jones once said in one of his songs "what good is a song if it has no message to bring"
Your reaction and words of wisdom to this song were priceless and right on the mark! Ah, to be a kid again......
Good Morning Everyone
God Bless us all
Twins praying all is well 😇😇🙌🙌❤🖤❤🖤
Murder she wrote reggae jam nanana
Yasss Junior 💗💗💗💗💗💗💗Love This song!! He is British and he still rocks this song today!! Much love to this man💗💗💗💗🎈🎈
I love how you love this jam. You speak about going after your dreams, Yes. Unfortunately many people growing up were abused in so any ways, they cannot see the goal anymore. Lets pray for them. We can see that your parents cared for you and boosted your goals, not always the life for other children. Love your open mind for new music!
💖YES!!! You two have been getting into the GOOD STUFF lately!! 80's R&B right here!!
"Take your time young man....don't you rush to get old"........
AND, back then, the music was positive, the music was Jamming, we got DRESSED, and we DANCED!!
One of my favorite songs.
I love the advice, your next adventure is motivational speakers.
It’s good to see these young bros getting up on game with music from back in the day Juniors music was very thick at that time with 2 major hits to his credit “To Late” and “ Mamma Used T o Say” which is the one song I learned to cover it’s a real jamming tune I just ❤️ it.
Great jam, used to dance to this in the disco.💃 I bought this on 12" vinyl back in 1982 & still have it. Love you guys 😀
Now you guys are getting closer to my suggestion about UK acts, Junior Giscombe was one, I still want to hear what you guys make of big time acts like Soul II Soul - Back to Life and Loose Ends - Hanging on a string, I guarantee you will be pleasantly surprised with what sounds came out of the UK. Guaranteed playlist music
Agreed!
Soul II Soul! Yes!
"You Can't Stop The Rain" Loose Endz. But they probably need "Hanging" first.
Yes! "Hanging On A String" is such a rich tune! Jazzy B needs to release a deluxe edition for Soul II Soul , with "Jazzy's Groove". The group Five Star also had several bops!
@@MsAgentprovocateur10 "Let Me Be The One", "Can't Wait Another Minute"...
Love y'all personalities! Great parents💯👍
It's nice to see you two taking the words to this great song to heart! Spot on, "take your time" growing up, getting older will be here before you know it and there's no "going back" to the time of childhood! BTW, did you know, Junior (Junior Giscombe) is British? Thanks for the memories! Great "Old School" jam..
Check out Junior's, "Too Late." Thank you for playing my fav male artist more than MJ & Prince from the '80's! Loved his lyrics & voice
Man - imagine coming out today with an absolute BANGING dance track with a positive message that become an instant classic.
My mom told me she used to request this song for me and my brother, when we used to watch my mom and dad bowl back in the late 80s... Great song!
Talk about a Roller Skating Classic!
Yes!

Play the intruders , I'LL ALWAYS LOVE MY MOMMA GREAT MOTHERS DAY SONG
So glad you guys enjoyed this song as much as you did! It truly is a classic feel good jam. Funny story, my wife didn't hear this growing up (we both grew up in the 80s) and I introduced it to her like last year. At first she wasn't feeling it, and was like "Eh, I can take it or leave". I was like "okay".... I KNEW it would just be a matter of time until this groove grew on her. Now she LOVES this song every time I play it! :D

Great tune by a Good man. Had to put career on hold to care for a loved one. This song kicks. Not to be forgotten. A feel good tune for all. Reliving the feeling through you guys thanks.
2 more great Brit singers and blue eye soul is Lisa Stansfield, "All Woman" & "Been Around The World" She's a beautiful singer with excellent lyrics on both songs. George Michael 's "Careless Whispers"- again excellent lyrics and truth to power. Don't forget Junior's, "Too Late" about domestic violence - great song, and again thank you for spinning Junior's, "Mama."
Used this video as motivation in my class today. My students loved it! Thank you for motivating the youth....they need the help! Peace and love♥️
