I'm trying to repair an armrest on a car, and need to know the best way of leveling it off before applying the new vinyl? Would like for it to be solid, strong, and sturdy. Some of the foam is missing from underneath the crack and it is concaved. What would be a good product to fill this with?
Sorry for the delay. Yes, I followed the video and the console stayed put. My husband used his muscle and pulled it apart. It didn't break. It was just stuck from being on for so long.
Great I just did my honda. But I used a hot glue gun. I hope it last. If it doesn't I will try it your way. I have enough supplies left over. I got some scrap vinyl and padding from the local fabric store cost me about $5 all together. It looks slot better than it did before. Now my elbows are comfortable.
any help for a console that someone has picked the foam apart? i bought a used truck and someone had a nervous tick and picked all the corners off, through the foam.
You can buy new foam and just use the same technique to wrap the foam onto the armrest. Then apply the vinyl or leather or whatever you're wrapping it in
I hope that no one cares, especially a customer, that you have just made a new black vinyl covered island in your gray interior Ford. Is replacement colors only available in code #00001 Black? I can't help but say something, you have to be over 20. In the Navy we did not have the options to make wrong choices. Gray damn it! Did you think of reinforcing the elbow contact. since you used lesser vinyl.
Dude it was left over vinyl I had laying around. And the vehicle was black and had black dash pieces. And as I said in the other comment that you left, I was 17. Relax.
stop, stop, STOOOOOOPPPPPPPPPP. Why the heck are you not trimming the material first and using half the material. Are you selling us vinyl, and how not to? It is so hard to work and glue up. Thanks a bunch. Excess vinyl, you must be doing lots of landfill at your shop. Did you ever think of using the old vinyl as a pattern? How did the mfg do it? Did you look at all?
You just saved me about $350 ($250 for parts and $100 labor). THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!
Very nice, exactly what I was searching to restore the armrest in my Ford Focus. Thanks for sharing!
I'll be covering my 04 Ford Explorer center console thanks to you. Much appreciated!
Old cover would make a great pattern.
You sir are my hero for today.
Your video has helped a lot for me. Thank you

Very helpful! Thank you! I need to re-wrap mine, much easier and cheaper than buying a new lid.

What glue u use ?
That cover will never be repaired again. Glued like a tongue on a frozen light post.
Marco Curtis if it's fixed correctly it shouldn't have to be repaired again...
