The best way to apply fabrics with contact adhesive is to place the fabric on top of where its to be installed, being sure to allow around 10-15% extra around all edges then to apply the glue simply fold the material in half with it remaining in it's install location, revealing half the surface to be be glued as well as half the material to be glued. If you're worried of any overspray getting on the face, newspaper works well to quickly mask spots off. Now once the glue has tacked, just need to flip the folded fabric back over into the glue, rubbing it out along the way, removing any wrinkles to the edges. Then fold the other half back, and apply the glue again. Once the entire surface is glued and fabric is in place, you can flip the board face down, spray the edges, and once ready using the extra material that was allowed to run past the edges you can stretch the fabric around the edges, and once everything is good use a razor to trim the excess off .
Gotta say u did a fantastic job for your first time . I'm laughing at you saying its heavy mine I'm building one now that's 3\4" almost a whole sheet with 6 speakers and a sub and 40000 watt amp and breakers wires fuse books it takes two guys to even move it still great job bro love the truck I would love to have 1 some day
looks great! I'm going to try to build one for my 85 with a bench seat. Couple of questions though, how deep are those cup holders and what size speakers did you use? Thank you
Thank you!! I don’t have an exact measurement but they will hold a large yeti cup. Here is the link www.basspro.com/shop/en/tigress-stainless-steel-cup-insert. The speakers are 6.5” and the buttons are 3/4” buttons from billet automotive buttons.
Thanks! They are actually boat cup holders but they are the only big ones that would hold a yeti cup. Here’s a link to them www.basspro.com/shop/en/tigress-stainless-steel-cup-insert
All of the side pieces and braces are attached with L brackets. The radio bezel and cup holders are just placed in and they are held down by the armrest angled piece that is held in by strong magnets.
I'd say stop overthinking and doubting yourself. You got the skills
Awesome build!
Glad to see the power probe being useful to you. You and your dad are doing a great job!
Thank you!
