I haven't watched a lot of episodes of Remote Control but I can say that was unequivocally the most brutal, headache-inducing, yet still entertaining first round I've ever seen on the show. I can only imagine how everyone in the control room was reacting. Poor Joe Davola, the show's producer and co-creator, had to be hitting his head against the wall while watching that.
There were two episodes of MTV "REMOTE CONTROL" between 1987 and 1988, in which three bad contestants were yanked out of the game at the end of it's round one, and bringing in three more contestants for round two to finish the game. The first, shown here, was one of those two.
I remember this episode, too well. This was like the 1st time in the episode where each/every one of the 3 contestants have been "knocked out of the game"!
More like concerned. Ken was the one who was pissed. Normally, her only purpose was to tell Ken the round was over by asking him to come upstairs and help her with something.
Ken: OMG? You really don't know Eric Freaking Clapton? Mom: Ken? You alright down there? Ken: Mom, these contestants are driving me crazy! Mom: Well, do what you gotta do. Ken: You know, I think I will. Alright, you all are outt a here, cause you're too stupid. We'll be back with some new contestants after this. Unbelievable.
If Cookie Masterson of _You Don't Know Jack_ hosted this particular game, you could bet he would never suffer fools gladly. Schmitty...maybe the same would happen. I know in _YDKJ Television,_ he REALLY let loose with the verbal abuse.
I'm not sure, but maybe. If they were real contestants, I think the FCC might have contacted MTV about it, and that may be why it never happened again, except for that special Season 3 episode.
@@kespeth2 If the FCC did get involved on a game show, it woulda hit the news. We knew they started getting involved in investigating _Our Little Genius_ due to its falling afoul of the Communications Act Amendments of 1960 -- ergo, if there ever were an integrity violation, _we_ would know (almost) immediately thanks to sources like the Associated Press.
Seems like it was aired on an April Fool's Day, because it was just like episodes of _Hollywood Squares_ and _Press Your Luck_ where the contestants either were actually actors who fooled the host or were made to have fake profiles and barely respond to the questions.
A triple yank I believed only happened twice. This episode plus the Three (Not So) Wise Men episode of Remote Control in December 1988. Except that the Three Wise Men yanking was staged. These three were yanked due to their incompetence.
I remember this episode, and it sucked. It’s something you might expect in a celebrity edition where the players are clowning around, but not in a real episode like this. I will say that in that first round, there aren’t many questions I would have been able to answer correctly at the time either, but I was very little at this time, and I didn’t know a whole lot about various TV shows then.
@@theguywiththegames1594 Speaking of Hollywood Squares I'm fairly certain that there was an episode of HSQ where they gave the panel prunes to eat and slowly but surely the panelists ended up in the bathroom. Does this episode actually exist or am I dreaming?
This 30fps or 25fps we've been so used to seeing since UA-cam launched is so outdated. It's about time we started seeing these videos the way they were supposed to be seen. Unfortunately, we can't do that with "Concentration", which started last March, because Buzzr, whether it was intentional or not, gave it a film look.
Some people said this before but I feel like the first round was set up with paid actors and the real contestants were in on it (knew that they would not play the 1st round)
There were a couple of "REMOTE CONTROL" episodes (like this very first one) when as round one of it ends, three bad contestants, who played the game badly, were yanked out of the game, to be replaced for round two by three other contestants to complete the game.
Good thing that didn't happen to me when I was a contestant on Remote Control (mid-1989). R.I.P. Ken Ober
Remote Control was the coolest, hippest game show on television during its time. I remember seeing this episode when it first aired. Good times, man!
Agreed. I think it should be rebooted.
Did you play the nes game lol
no scare smaville and get way with it
I LOVE high quality Remote Control. Thanks for posting!!
But MTV found trouble having it.

I like to imagine that they had the same reaction of the _Press Your Luck_ control room to Michael Larson’s beast run.
@@taofanarchy96-renzomaracas14 Wouldn't surprise me if they did. That'd be very appropriate.
Agree. The questions were a bit harder, but come on, the yardbirds and cream would have been the easiest slam dunk! Still, a hilarious episode!
I totally completely adored Marisol Massey !
Now I know where the idea behind Will Ferril's "JEOPARDY!" skits came from.
The _real_ idea actually came from the Half-Wits sketch on _SCTV._ #RIPJohnCandy
Hahaha. I guess so

Yank' em! LOL!
the other one was scripted
I would've loved that Magnavox word processor! Those things are the shit!
Damn Ken looked so frustrated.
This wasn't Ken's day, nor was it any of the 1st 3 Contestant's Days.
I remember this episode, too well. This was like the 1st time in the episode where each/every one of the 3 contestants have been "knocked out of the game"!
One round 80’points for Patti and 70 for Rick. Wow those two were impressive
I've never seen this particular episode before. I hope this was the only time it happened in the show's history.
Technically it was the first real one, there was another one in season 3’s Christmas show but I think that one was planned
@@namk19 I wonder if the intentional one in season 3 was a shoutout to this one?
Remote Control was from the makers that brought you Double Dare and Finder's Keepers.
Of the three, only Double Dare was rebooted...
Twice, actually.

Wow. RC is all I remember.

We're the three hurr durrs in round 1 the "Technical Reasons" the program was edited? I'd definitely edit them off too. With dull scissors.
I think it was more re-shooting some spots in post-production. Rod Roddy frequently alluded to such issues during the end credits on NBC's _Hit Man._

10:20 - Yardbirds and Cream
Oh and Derek and the Dominoes
For more laughs, Ken could have reduced the question to One band.
I only recall Cream.
I'm *really* hoping those first three people were hired actors for a bit.
I'm not sure, but maybe. If they were real contestants, I think the FCC might have contacted MTV about it, and that may be why it never happened again, except for that special Season 3 episode.

I love that joke. The Gourmet Channel has the Oscar Meyer wiener song and the questions are baloney and Cheez Whiz.

Forgot about USA network.
m I the only one who liked the design of the categories in season 1 better than the ones on the RC font?
Good Lord, Mike was insufferable. One of those types who loves to hear himself talk, I would have thrown him off just for that!
I bet Trebek never had to put up with this.
...unless Sean Connery was one of the contestants, of course, LOL.

Two dopes from Sig Ep! 😄
Well that a first they got rid of the 3 and got new ones.
good morning @The Guy with the Games :)
Who here played the nes remote control video game I loved it
Ken's mom really hated the first group of players.
Please tell me you have the Beastie Boys episode, where they dressed up as the 3 Wise Men?
I remember that
Check out them chompers at 24:04
Patty did good. 😀👍
I describe this as brainsurge but if it was more trivial and aired on NBC in the 80s.
Key question: DID this air on April Fool's Day?
Reminds me of Kuni from the movie, UHF. "STUPID! YOU'RE SO STUPID!!"
Was this an April Fools episode?
How did those three get on the show?
Good question.
They had a pulse.
What's a pulse?
Mike was a little to excited
Colin definitely smelled like cigarettes
If anybody can find my episode of Remote Control, I would be much obliged!
