Thanks for the upload. A great show with an excellent host. Love the guests. You remind me of my brother in 89' and the girl looks like his girlfriend. I recently bought and uploaded our school's trips to the basketball finals in the 1980's. Can't let the memories die.
i wonder who ended up winning the russian concert contest and how their time was on the plane with motley crue and the rest of the bands. inquiring minds want to know...
I had a friend who won a similar contest but the band backed out. She had the free trip to London though. I think they hyped these things into more than really was on offer, with specially designed exit clauses in the contracts. But who knows? Maybe this one was bomb. Would be cool to hear the story.
A different horse who died in Oklahoma in February 1979 was widely thought to be Bamboo Harvester, but this horse was, in fact, a horse that posed for the still pictures of Mister Ed used by the production company for the show's press kits. This horse was unofficially known as "Mister Ed", which led to his being reported as such (including sardonic comments on Saturday Night Live's Weekend Update) following his own death.
I was on w/ air date end of July (also filmed in May, so we might have crossed paths lol). Sometime in the 90's I lost my tape and to this day am still looking for my "lost episode" :(
This is when MTV started "alternative programming" this is what lead to real world and road rules and teen mom and all the bs that has nothing to do with music.
Well…16 & Pregnant was before Teen Mom and even that was 15 years after this. To me, this was the prime of MTV…Real World was great initially. This show at least tied in pop culture and current music. It was more of the demise of music videos themself that forced MTV to make the unfortunate changes they did.
@@mozman68 good point man isn't it ironic that the platform we are watching this on is responsible for the demise of music videos on television? UA-cam pretty much killed it
Does anyone have the episode where they threw all of the contestants out after the first round for being such bad contestants? It was an absolute legend!
Having a color tv that size back then was awesome. Sat on the dresser off the side of my bed so I could watch Love Connection into the wee hours of the night.
probably the worst host I've seen...no wonder this show didn't last long........yhen again, I bet that Russia trip was a blast with those bands performing :D
I think he loved his job, and I thought he was great as the anti-host! He broke all the conventions of usual game show hosts, and I think he enjoyed that very much. I thought it was quite entertaining, myself, and MTV and their audiences must have thought so as well, because they kept him on for a good, long time, as MTV shows go. I think Ober was great. He was 'fast on his feet,' and had a quick wit.
Old school MTV truly kicked ass sadly something youth of modern times cant nor will ever grasp

Haha. I feel like the host was having a rough night. I love these videos of the late 80’s- early 90’s. Best time.
That may have had something to do with the friends I brought you hear screaming and commenting in the background to everything he said. Hah

I wasn't even around when MTV was like this yet I miss it
MTV's not best to have this.

QUICK!!! Someone find Harry and show him this video to remind him of his hair!!! And thank you for keeping the commercials in!!
The 80’s. The last great decade.
OMG .. the best thing about this video is the commercials!! LOL

This show needs to return!
It would just be pussified and pc like everything else these days.
It would suck
Agree.
It should move to another network.
I feel like if it did it would be more about youtube then tv
This humor would absolutely work in 2023
Loving the commercials!!
That Russia ad is fascinating considering it was about 4 months until the Berlin Wall fell
RIP...Ober.
Edward Norton speaking in a Russian accent in that commercial. Awesome
Was that really him or just a dead ringer?

Love the girl getting dead silence as she is introduced.
"Yeeaaaa- ... oh my God..." Poor Rachel. XD
mark g. And she was from NYC where it was filmed. You would think all of her friends would come to the taping.
So crazy
without UA-cam I would have never heard of this show

That last one in the Bonus Round was a killer.

MTV is supposed to have a game show about music.
That Mark-dude was pretty hot.
Holy shit... Colin Quinn... He looks like he's 18 here.
Fuck yeah he does
He was almost 30

These shows and Singled Out should be syndicated on tv or on an app.
Too bad that you can’t bring them back. The youth is angry and cynical.
Fell in love with Jenny McCarthy when she hosted Singled Out. She really hasnt changed much.

It actually lasted a long time by MTV standards. Four seasons. Ken Ober was the anti-host, and he filled the role well.
MTV was irreverent back then, this was basically a loose slacker parody of a game show.
Ken Ober did not like his job did he? I can see why. He stinks!
