Coach Han isn't just a badminton teacher, but also a philosopher and master! You always point out the reasons why to things no one else talks about! These days i also realise I never think about my grip, forehand or backhand, I just play with the angle or the direction I feel i should have the racket for the correct swing for the shuttle. I was never sure i was doing things right but at least now I know I am on the right track, at least for now 😄. Thanks Coach Han!
If you ask advanced players "what grip do you use", they won't give you a clear answer. Because they don't care about the grip. The important thing is whether you hit from the correct distance, not so much how you hold the racquet.
His lessons are so specific, and he has a variety of tricks for each shot. He points out everything that needs to be learned too. How i wish coach han was my coach
I was about to make a video talking about this topic in Vietnamese, especially the number 8 exercise and the meaning of doing it. And here i see your video. Great Explaination coach Han. Respect from Hai Phong Vietnam.
You guys always read whats on my mind. I've been struggling with switching grips but thanks to this video i gained a new perspective and i"ll try to implement what coach han taught here. Thank you again > < Much Love from India
This is an excellent video on the grip. I have been struggling with my grip, and I began to relax on my grip. I found I can get more range of movement and power from a relaxed grip. And I have noticed that my grip is not forehand or backhand either. This video explains a lot. Thank you Coach Han, and the crew that is making this video.
yes, yes! Relaxation is more than half the success. More important than forehand and backhand is the reaction of your eyes and quick decisions. The rest are automatic commands from your brain.
I created my own grip some time back to minimise changing, and i felt bad about it because it is not like everyone else. Thanks Coach Han, you restore my confidence..turns out that is what it should be.
Much respect for Coach Han. Wish i had a coach like Mr.Han. When he does all that looks so easy makes me realize how hard is in real life to adopt to our own unique style. Btw any footwork tutorial from Caoch Han we can expect 😊😊 ?
Thanks a lot for the information, I watch your videos and I developed my grip accordingly . There is one guy who keeps telling me to correct my grip , I told him I have neutral grip so I can easily switch but he is so adamant that my grip is wrong . I started to doubt myself but then I saw this video and it cleared my doubts . Believe in yourself.

thanks. Coach Han's philosophy is to make a distinction between 'professional players' and 'amateurs'. I'm not saying amateurs shouldn't try. However, it is dangerous to look at the professional players and try to imitate them. We see the splendid movements of professional players. However, they are not curious about the other side. Thank you so much for saying this! Ive been practicing hard for a year but still struggle with "rolling" it back and forth between my fingers. It does not work for me at all. Everyone says to do it, coaches, other players, but it never makes any sense to me.
It's hard to answer as it's a fluid situation that keeps changing ever so slightly.... And if one is playing at that level, it doesn't need to be taught... But for simplicity sake... N not to get even intermediate players confused, best stick to the conventional way... Thanks for the humble clarification...😉
I don't know what that racket is. However, each person prefers a different racquet. Some people use heavy racquets because of their weak strength, while others use light racquets. Completely tailored to your own taste.
this? maybe you've seen already. The key is to create a grip that is less variable. As you go up level, you'll realize that 'grip' doesn't matter. ua-cam.com/video/UppSk0FZORA/v-deo.html
the thing about grip in badminton is it is just not as easy as it sounds. you cant expect to have results just because someone teach you the "correct" method per se. people can say/teach you lots of things about this and you still be not as good because you have not yet fully develop your wrist/hand/finger techniques. badminton is a sport where you develop your bodies so that you can do shots that seemed hard easily. you need to lots of hours of training/developing/conditioning your body to achieve satisfying result. cant expect much with just knowledge, gotta put them hours into it. badminton is a feeling sport where you feels the racket, strings, shuttles etc. its a varying and changing sports. fixed knowledge can't explain those kinds of feelings precisely. you gotta feel it with your body. cheers.
100 percent agree. Viewers mostly ask the coach for the correct answer. But the answer is different for each individual. they have to realize and create for yourself.
How to generate power from your own combined grip in backhand side. I tried it and unable to generate power and also less control. A thumb grip(backhand) i can generate more power. Pls tell how to generate power from this combined grip.
How many hours did you practice? It will take years to master your own grip method... ua-cam.com/video/UppSk0FZORA/v-deo.html Accuracy is technique. Power comes from the physical. It's not a good idea to learn a new technique and make a strong stroke. If you want to make strong strokes, you should do basic strength training and weight training. Of course most don't like it.

Everyone has different conditions and different wants. But we often miss the most essential thing. 'Technology' is made for the most average person. But just because someone is above average doesn't mean that person is left behind. The young man in the linked video cannot use his index finger. But he is playing his own badminton. As you know, everyone plays badminton differently. You should too. Sooner or later we will make a video about the core principles of badminton.
