Nate, thanks for doing what you're doing. I drank heavy for 3 decades and a few months ago listened to Allen Carr and also bought his book. His information caused me to finally switch so that I see it as a no good poison. I'm 56 days clean tonight (8weeks!) and i'm confident I am done forever. For your viewers who are interested, they can listen to Allen Carr's full audiobook here on YT if they search for a video titled "How To Stop Drinking Alcohol Full 8 Hours Audio Book". I have watched numerous videos from you and have decided to start from the very beginning of your journey and watch every single day because I think you communicate concepts and nuggets beautifully. thanks friend!

Thank you. That is a great book / audio book. It helped me change my thoughts and feelings about alcohol. I will try to remember to mention his works in my next video. 8 weeks is no small feat after drinking for 30 years. You are killing "the big monster!" Keep up the good work my friend! 👊

Hey Nate. Noticed that beautiful classic vehicle behind you in today’s video. Don’t Count yourself out as the worlds coolest dad quite yet. 😀. Not to mention that you’re turning into a really cool guy because you’ve stopped ingesting mind altering poison on a daily basis. You mentioned that you are going to be doing the videos for one year - thanks for that. I’m looking forward to following along. I am at day seven. Eventually I’ll stop counting but right now, it feels good to watch that number go up. Have a great day.

Thank you Fred. Yeah, she's a '74 Bronco. I've found wrenching on rigs to be a good hobby for me.
Day 30 today... only 335 videos to go! 😃 Don't think I will stop there though. Just won't be posting every day after that.
Yeah, my kids have put their wall down since I quit drinking. Now I can do my best to make up for lost time.
Congrats on day 7, you have made it through the toughest part. I think I did get one pretty strong craving on week 2, but I pulled out the old will power tool for a few hours and that got me through it. I don't have to use that tool a lot, but it's there when you need it! Keep moving forward!

Allen Carr's book got me started to look at alcohol in a new way.
I read (listened) it three times.
What you talk about in your videos is Allen Carr in a nutshell.
    Great job!

Allen Carr's book is the best piece of literature I've read on quitting alcohol. It really helps change your perspective and beliefs about alcohol.

    Day 7 - Oct 1, 2022
1 week we made it! Today was OK. Was a little irritable at work for no good reason. Had a small temptation to drink, mostly psychological being Saturday and that is a day it pretty much always drank. Went away pretty quick. There was no way I was going to fail on day 7!
Overall week 1 went pretty well. Have had a slight headache all week. Some of that can be contributed to cutting my caffeine intake by about 30% since I've been less tired. Also I'm sure I need to balance out my electrolytes. I feel much more "present" in the evening with my wife and son instead of being zoned out from alcohol.
Anyone still trying to make the leap to quit I highly recommend it. It I only takes a week to start to feel like a different person.

Just found your channel today, and you earned my sub. I have never had to deal with addiction but I really really appreciate how honest and open you are. Being a man that can openly talk about stuff, it’s nice to see someone else put themselves out there and really better themselves! Keep it up man, I’m now along for your journey! Thanks for the videos, keep it up. Your family and the rest of the life you live will thank you for the hard work you are putting in now! Use these videos on the hard days to show you just how much you have to live for, and keep that bottle down. The world is so hard, and geared towards inhibitions, this is a huge monumental step for anyone who is tackling an addiction! You’re vulnerability is refreshing! Thank you

Thank you very much for the kind words! I had been pulled to give up the drink and make this channel for years, but I just kept resisting it over and over again. I finally surrendered 10 days ago and put my ego and pride aside to do what I knew I had to do to give it up for good. Thank you for your sub and encouragement! 👍👍
      All the best,
      Nate

So day 7 here. Gonna follow along yr year to help me. Thank you for this series 🙏🏻😊

This is the first time I've seen your channel. I will tell you I was alittle confused. I saw the bronco in the back ground & thought it must be a automotive channel. I really don't know if it is normally or not? But I am very interested in automotive things just like the Bronco I see there. I build engines as a hobby & have sevral big ford mud trucks. So the bronco really cought my eye. However substance abuse is probably a equally important issue in my own life. I have struggled with alchahol & drugs my entire adult life & it has now started to affect my health. I just turned 46. I actually did give up drinking & smoking pot more than 5 yrs ago. Witch did need to happen. However drinking wasn't really my first choice of substances. I did drink heavy & was starting to get into more & more trouble & fights & found that blacking out was becoming very common for me. But I quit. Good right? Well... I gave up all the things that revolved around the one thing that I still struggle with. Meth. You wouldn't know it if you met me. My body has become so used to having it, it dousnt get me high anymore, it only gets me normal. I still sleep everynight & eat every meal. I'm still tired all the time. It dous not make me like all the propaganda would have you believe. I dont steal or creep around or even lie. It didn't turn me into what they show you on TV. I will say many people do turn into that. But I have dun it so long to me when I smoke it, it's like someone smoking a cigarette. I'm addicted to it, but it dousnt make me wired. Im just normal. Those that know me, said that when I did quit, that they never even knew. They said they couldn't tell when I was on it so they didn't know that I quit. I have since started to use again. It's been a off, on again struggle for me. I know I have to quit at some point. I have already experienced heart failure. Witch I did quit for some time after that. But I got my strength back then used again. I can tell you, you seem to want the sober life. But you should remember to not be over confident & feel as though it's ok to be around what used to tempt you & believe it won't tempt you like before. Becouse it might not, you might be able to handle it just fine, until all of the sudden it dous tempt you. It's as if addiction has a mind of its own & as you learn & geow & figure out how to keep it out of your life it also has a mind & it learns & works at ways to find a weak spot to use & find away into your life. If you should fall back in dont beat yourself up over it. Don't think of it as failure or giving up. It's just a moment in the overall journey & you have to take another shot at it. Even if you fall back in dousnt mean the game is over & you lost. It just means it's a fight & you have taken a couple shots, & you will get through it & get a handle on it again.

      Hi Jesse,
Thank you for you thoughts and comments. My channel is focused on my journey of quitting alcohol. I try to take my videos using different settings around my place just to keep things fresh and interesting. This one was in front of my '74 Bronco. I can totally relate to how you can have an addiction and most people don't know or can't tell. Most of my friends, family and co-workers had no idea except for those closest to me. I tried quitting in the past and failed over and over again. Everytime however, gaining more "tools" and experience as to what worked and what didn't. In all of that, I have realized that you have to understand how you came to be trapped in your addictive prison and learn how to view alcohol (my crutch) as what it truly is... poison that does no good for you. I wanted to create a channel so others struggling with addiction could follow along day by day with my thoughts, experiences, ups and downs. I am by no means the "authority" on the topic and not everyone is going to agree with me on every point, but that's okay. I have had to surrender my ego and pride to make these videos. It's just the raw me without alcohol sharing what I think I know and don't know. It's all about helping myself and others who might be struggling with addiction of some sort. I hope you can find some good in them. Thank you for watching and I wish you nothing but the best on your journey.

Congrats on the 7 days! It took me about 3 weeks to a month for the sleep to get better. When it did, it was way better than any sleep I got when I was drinking. I had days in the first couple of weeks where I felt off and depressed as well. My hormones and dopamine levels were all messed up. Hang in there! That stuff starts to normalize after the first few weeks.
