It's ambigious whether the island destroys the rest of the world once it goes to the bottom of the ocean or not. MiB probably never knew it would, same thing with his invincibility gone when the cork wasn't there. Otherwise he would be just happy to leave the island as a mortal man too. He'd know Jack would put the cork back eventually. However, if the island still destroys the rest of the world, MiB would still find some comfort with the end of all things. That would be his revenge on both Jacob and his mother and the whole humanity for keeping him prisoner on that island for no apparent reason
