We broke off from boarding school some 270 km south of the capital Harare, where the Independence ceremony was to be held at the iconic Rufaro stadium. I travelled back home to Bulawayo to enjoy the holiday declared to mark the historic occasion. Public buses were free during that time. But it was crazy, passing convoy upon convoy headed for the capital. I got home to catch the live broadcast of the ceremony that started in the afternoon right up to midnight 17th April when the then Prince Charles handed over the reins of power to Robert Gabriel Mugabe. I remember the feeling, we wept openly. Then Bob Marley and Wailers took over. It was magical, and that performance left an indelible mark. I already knew the lyrics of most of the songs, anthems of the liberation struggle and the anthem Zimbabwe, released in 1978 being the icing that topped what was a historical and remarkable night. Who better to usher in a new dawn than Bob Nesta Marley and the Wailers. This video brought it all back.

I am of the belief that Bob Marley was killed and always felt this way. Cancer can be injected in a person. It's called biological warfare. He was a threat because wat he stood for and hus music was revolutionary. No one makes Regee music like him since he was eliminated. His music always had a revolutionary edge. Today's Regee is watered down and does not inspire our souls to revolutionary action. Remember whst Malcolm X said about snd how he defined a real revolution.

He had cancer before way before 1980-81, he got cancer initially in 77.. He was sick way before then but he kept on playing concerts till he couldn’t anymore.. You’ll never see another (Prophet) like musician like that again, that loves God and is focused on their purpose..
(and especially The Wailers too, without the Barrett Brother’s and their groove it wouldn’t be complete.. It’s hard to tour the world like that (especially) being so known but too a lot of bands don’t work out because they have problems in the mists of things and can’t handle it anymore)..

In 1977, Doctors discovered Marley had acral lentiginous melanoma, a form of skin cancer, that started under his big toenail. The first doctor that he consulted thought that the lesion on his toe was a soccer injury. After it began to look worse, Marley consulted another doctor who biopsied the spot and discovered that it was melanoma.
I am a 69 years old Jamaican living in Fl. with stage 4 Stomach Cancer and am amazed at his energy just a year before he died. When he died he was just 82 lbs. So he must have lost more weight. I went from 185 to 102 at my lowest. Now I am regaining and up to 136 and hoping I gain no more.
