I went ahead and subscribed. Your vlogs are really well put together, and you both explain concepts and capture going-on really well. One thing is I'd like to see and hear more of your playing, and maybe less of the stock music. I've heard of copyright issues when people play certain composers like Mozart and Beethoven. Is that what you mean when you say "copyright issues, can't show performances"?
Hi there, thanks so much for your comments! When I say copyright issues, I mainly mean that most performances I do that are affiliated with the RCM are actually owned by the RCM, and if I want to make videos using the official recordings I'd have to go through a complicated application process. This also goes for recordings I make at the RCM (as I have to declare usage of recording etc). However, another reason I don't use my own recordings is because I'm extremely critical of my own playing and sometimes even including footage of snippets of my playing makes me spiral into too much over thinking for my own good! It's definitely a psychological hurdle I'm trying to work on to overcome! Hope this answers your questions ☺
Well, the hyper-self-critiquing, and the self-conscious overthinking are things ALL musicians can relate to, even us non-virtuosi. :) I think if it were me, I would start by releasing relatively easy pieces which I could feel solidly confident about, and take baby steps toward showing stuff I was more sensitive about. Thanks for your responses, and thank you for sharing your journey. I will continue to watch with great interest. :)
i love your videos, Peggy!!! You're doing a great job.
