Dave, I just haven't been fully comfortable on my 2021 KX250 bike setup until I watched this video. I tried a lot of different things but never got the results I wanted. So, I set my sag from 104 to 102, dropped the forks by 2.5mm from 5mm, changed front and rear shock settings as you described. I rode Diablo MX (Nor Cal) Sunday and the bike was so much more plush, stayed leaned over in the deep ruts a lot better and no high speed head shake. I could not believe the difference! Thanks for throwing out this bike setup to the general public. I love how my bike feels now b/c of your advice! It's nice finally knowing what the thing is going to do when I hit stuff! Keep up the great work. Lucero
not sure if you guys gives a damn but if you are stoned like me atm you can watch pretty much all the new series on instaflixxer. Have been binge watching with my brother recently =)
This is honestly the best thing I’ve seen in years. This is what the average weekend warrior wants to help get their bike dialed with out wasting money on things he or she probably doesn’t even need. AWESOME! Please do one on the 21 CR 450 as far as fixing the low end gurgle and getting the suspension ( Honda’s Achilles heel for 2021) dialed. Great stuff 💪🏼
Has to be an awkward discussion. Pingree to KYB, “hey we are wondering if you can send a suspension tech over to ‘fix’ the suspension on the 2021 kx250f?” KYB, “what do you mean, ‘fix’, we tuned the suspension to its optimal settings for that bike”. Or is it, “ya, we will send someone over right away, we know it sucks and we will come and make a few small adjustments and it will be much better”? And at what point does the elephant in the room come out? (Why the hell didn’t you tune it properly from the factory, was is any harder to just make some clicks?” Also, seems like the 2021 CRF450R in a similar situation.
Yeah same feeling here, "2 mm here, 3 click there and you got a bike to race" wtf? this new bikes are awesome from the start, you just need to test what works best for you, just like any other bike, oh and by the way the setting he choosed will suck on a sand track
@@Pereke69 exactly that suspension isn't set and forget but I guess if you're just riding the same Californian tracks every time its a good baseline. Same as the shootouts they should be testing the bikes on completely different styles of tracks. The "dreaded" PSF on my old 2014 crf450r was actually quite good in deep sand because of that initial harshness but was bagged out in shootouts because of that
Do you guys have a website Where the clickers are labelled next to stock? Thanks Compared to my 2018 kx250f this bike is night and day. Front end is really active and the bike likes head shake. Any opinions ping?
Great stuff dude and interesting to watch and try and learn. I am confused if the bike has bad suspension from the factory and in a couple track days you found the solution and fixed it why didnt Kawasaki or KYB do that before the model came out? Or are your fixed settings for like a pro level rider and the stock setup is better suited to the average rider? I know springs are very rider weight depentant, did they just miss the balance from the factory?
Great info. I just got a new 2021 KX 250. I am 6’ 235#. From the information in this video, would it be safe to assume that the stock suspension would be fine for me as a heavy rider? I am in no way competitive, but i do like to hit the jumps, it is just fun for me. I got this bike to replace my CRF450R. It’s just too much, while i have fun on it, it’s just masking some bad form IMO.
Hey Kyle. I’ve got a 2021 kx250 and I weigh around 195. I ride motorcross only and my fork compression is at 2 clicks out from bottomed out, rebound opened up around 5 clicks to sit higher in the stroke, and fork height bounces from 2.5mm to flush. In the rear I’m around 1/2 turn out on high speed, 4 ish out on low speed, and stock rebound. Sounds wild but it still feels a little too soft. Just thought I’d share.
Most regional races or area qualifiers or even big series races have suspension companies there for rider support. Almost all of them will set your bike up based of data sheets and real world experience for your style, weight, and class abilities. Usually around $100-200. Its worth it if you plan to run OEM suspension
@@Upthebroncos310 sorry bro. Do you guys not have any local suspension tuners? For basic set up it usually isn't too much trouble to get help from one. May have to pull off the forks and shock to send it off

I could never tell the difference when I made suspension changes. Most of the time I was just hanging on for dear life!
Yup us plebs never ride it 100% so that we can tell what it needs. Aslong as it doesnt constantly want to bottom out im happy xD

What is exactly wrong with the '21 crf450r suspension for say B class and below riders???
@@tcmx712 It's super soft. I rode it at Glen Helen and it felt like it was sprung for 140-150lb rider.
Nice video Ping! Looks like a fun bike.
Great info. Very thorough
Appreciate it fellas.. 👍
Hy Ping,
How much oil did you use in the fork with the 4.8 springs?
Pick mine up tomorrow Definitely a helpful vid.. I also for-sure need to change the bars so narrow
Could you make a summary of the final configuration in an image?

What was the riders height and weight??
These are important factors

I’m curious about weight range with the forks? Would this be a recommended fix for someone closer to 190lbs?

I have no idea about suspension but I’d sure love for an industry expert one day to sit with me and set me up for it just to see the difference

I clicked in hopes it would be a 250 2 stroke. Dang
Team Green are the only company to name their newer ones like the 2-strokes in "those" days. I don't like it!
Maybe a budget thing...
