    Thank you Marion for showing this technique for sunflowers. As you say it looks lovely as it is. I am interested to see how you glaze with the colours. Do you leave the under painting to dry before you apply glazes? I am often confused between applying paint in the usual way and glazing. It's difficult for me to grasp the art of glazing. I just purchased my first set of oil paints and I bought turpenoid for the medium...is turpenoid good to use for oils??? I usually work in acrylics but really want to try oils...I could watch you paint all day. You're such an inspiration..

    • @MazArtStudio
      @MazArtStudio  6 років тому

      DJH I’ve never used turpenoid and wouldn’t be able to advise. Although I googled it and here’s what I found.
      Reviews of Turpenoid Natural as a brush cleaner have been outstanding. It cleans even dried brushes. Although it can be used as a medium for mixing with your oil paints most reviewers of the product recommend against it because the paintings take a very long time to dry and you must be careful not to use very much medium.
      So use it as a cleaning agent rather than a medium is the advice. You can use walnut oil or linseed oil (refined) for a medium. I use a brand called zest it. If you click my kit.com link you’ll see what I use and have a description for things. But feel feee to use turpenoid but do a bit of research on google first. 😁. Good luck you’ll love Oils.

    Ma'am, is it a complete painting or in the second stage you will again paint over it as you said it's an underpainting? I'm sorry but I'm a bit confused, and plz guide me on what's the benefits of making underpainting first? Thanks again

    • @MazArtStudio
      @MazArtStudio  6 років тому +4

      Saadi it’s your choice. Many people love it like this sepia effect. I will be adding coloured glazes on the top. An underpainting makes the drawing stages easy (only one colour to worry about). It establishes the tonal values and all the hard work is done at this stage. We simply add colour glazes on top of this which I will do in later videos.

    • @SaadiPK

      Oils are out of the question for me (because of my health ). Can I do an underpainting in acrylics using the white instead of wiping out? I know the oils will come out better but will this method be an advantage because of the solid drawing underneath?. You are a very good artist and your explanations are very clear. Thanks very much

    • @MazArtStudio
      @MazArtStudio  6 років тому

      You can do it with acrylic but instead of covering the entire canvas and wiping out - just build up the dark layers slowing and leave the white of the canvas (you don't need white). if you build up slower it can be done with acrylics too.
