Kelly Clarkson Piece By Piece American Idol Farewell Season 15 2016
Props to the pianist. He stayed right with her.
He's been with her her entire career
That’s his job as her accompanist. To follow her and not lead her. She’s the singer. He’s the musical backup.
the Kelly duo with the pianist is like a perfectly tuned machine
@@destinywhite2063 Sounds really simple, but trust me, its not. Good job on the pianist
@@andrewoverhere8525 yes he has… she stole him from idol lol!!
She just keeps reminding us why she is THE American Idol
There hasn’t been one as good since!
@@codycee2510Uh carrie underwood????
@@michaelnewby5279 she’s a good singer. Kelly is much better
@codagreeycee2510
@@michaelnewby5279na she didn’t have the same or still has the impact Kelly has
Her little “sorry”…..so powerful, so soft, yet so strong. One of the best live performances of all time.
Agreed
Absolutely 😢
Agreed
As a boy abadndoned by my father, all I could think when she said "sorry"...was that she has nothing to fucking apologise for...in that tone too.
Do y'all remember the Kelly Pickler performance at one of the award shows where she cracked at the end because it was about her mom I believe 💔😢
Props to the pianist for letting her restart that one line and still being insync.
Yes, completley concur, great piano, do you know who is the pianist?
Never noticed till now but your right . Definitely on sync
My dad left us when I was 7 yrs old it was hard
I don't care how many I revisit this video I cry EVERY TIME❤
Me too! ❤😭
Same here! Just the raw real emotion! True talent to get through difficult songs like this!
Gurlah. U ain't neva lied lol.
Same. This is like my 4th time back, I can't make it through without crying.
Same😅
This song is so emotional. She poured her heart out. Her father and ex-husband never deserved her.
What did her husband do?
Probably cheated.
@@MidnightCrow928 so we assume and she is automatically the good one get it
Her stepdad stepped up !!!!
@@Poodlebear19234her dad walked away for her and his family. And her step dad stepped up!
I think this might break my heart even more now that she is divorced from a man who demanded money and so much more from her. He broke his vow, his promise and that he wasn't a good enough man to prove a man can be great and a father could stay. Kelly's strength is just amazing.
That’s always what I think when I hear this now as well! So very sad!
That's the terrible thing about this song. Little did Kelly know. I'm glad she got through it.
@@KD.... She changed the lyrics after their split so the song doesn't mention him
Yeah, I think about that too. Hopefully he is a better parent than he was a spouse.
It’s so heartbreaking. I almost can’t listen to this version anymore. 😭 Especially cause it wasn’t just Kelly, but also Reba who had her heart broken. 😢
As a neglected child, this song gets me, every time
Love you ❤Sending you big hugs 🥰
😢
I’m a 31 year old grown man and i sit and cry watching this literally everytime
45 brother and crying just the same
Me too at 61
hope you find the healing your souls deserve ❤
And you know what? There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. It's a beautiful song with a powerful message sung by a beautiful woman with a powerful voice. I'd be concerned for anyone who doesn't cry during this performance.
48 old woman, but still a kid insight, like all of us. ❤
Kelly Clarkson is a diamond. Literally a woman sent from a place where only good things come from. Never heard one negative thing about her in the 20+ years that I've been a fan(since American Idol). That just shows you now she's genuinely a good person.
Yes! She's just so down to Earth, funny, honest, just beautiful inside and out❤
Or good PR…
Well, she called Norwegian world Idol-winner Kurt Nilsen, a hobbit and undeserving of the title as she was supposedly a better singer🤔
"A place where only good things come from" omggg that is the cutest description of a person I've read in youtube comments. And it makes sense, given that your username is "sweet"monkey. And I totally agree. She's such a fighter, throughout her entire career, fighting for artistic freedom and sticking to her morals.
Who’s listening in 2024 & crying your eyes out ‘cuz it still hits soooo deep! 💔❤️🩹✌️😢
My dad left all 4 of use because he wanted to single. My youngest brother was extremely abused by my step-dad. He never hit me. I watched helpless watch my brother go through hell. My mother never stopped him. My brother was murdered at 22. It hurt more now that l'm older. I hate the holidays. Dec 4th is his birthday. We were 14 months apart.
I am so very sorry they lost your brother, and in such a horrible way. That’s a pain that’s too deep and no words will make it OK.
But like you said you’re older now you can see things differently and you can break those generational curses continue to fight , fight to live, the fight to control your pain And to be the one that no matter how many times in your life, you have been knocked down and your knees are bloody. You stand up and you keep going! , No, you’re not alone.
I lost my daughter to suicide on Christmas Eve, three months before that I lost my soulmate and then I found out I had cancer and a few months later my best friend died because I forced her to go get a mammogram and then six months later my mother passed. I was taking care of. He left us just like that and never looked back mentally broke. She just couldn’t cope with four kids and being single.
People do not understand that one action they take is a huge domino effect, and all that therapy in the world will never change that feeling that is a roadmap from your head to your heart. All you can do is learn to take one day at a time look up , you somehow survived and that you’re meant to be here and you’re worth is endless!!!! But I definitely understand about the holidays! 🙏💔🕊️😢
@SisterGoldenHair212
Thank you. Life can be very hard. We can always find others who have it harder. I'm sorry for all your losses. Good memories make us smile.
@ Thank You. Sometimes I will read the comments and like yours, I realize I am not alone & it helps me. We survive. 🙏✌️
@SisterGoldenHair212
I agree.
Don’t know why I put myself through this again at 7.20am 😅 but seeing it again I actually want to applaud the pianist for adjusting the music when Kelly needed a second. Brilliant skills ❤
I was literally going to say this and was checking to see if anyone else noticed too
Jason Halbert the pianist is an absolute masterpieces. He has been playing piano with Kelly for 20 years. They are magic together and he has always instinctively known how to follow her timing.
Agreed, as a pianist myself people don’t understand how difficult it is to do that. And he did it so flawlessly, almost like they both knew the exact note where to pick up. Almost like it was rehearsed when it clearly wasn’t.
@@davidboschiWell, as a pianist, you’re leaving a crucial point out. Jason is a pianist, true, but he is accompanying her. He’s NOT the leader, she’s the leader, she’s the singer. That’s not to hurt him, that’s a fact. When Jason plays for her, it’s his job to know where she is in the music and if she messes up, he has to keep playing, he cannot simply stop. If nothing else, he has to chord until she rights herself and finds her place in the music again.
I’ve played the clarinet for years, and played solos with piano accompaniment. Accompaniment follows you, they don’t lead you. My mother played recitals too and her accompaniment knew her like Jason knew Kelly.
My mom’s senior college recital, there was a particular run she had endless problems with. She had to play it in triple time to get it right. She got really nervous, and her accompaniment told her, “don’t worry about me, if I lose you, I know how to chord.” So, she played and did that run in triple time. Her accompaniment lost her and had to chord😂. Mom got a standing ovation and an “A”. No one was the wiser. There’s only so much practicing you can do.
Being a piano accompaniment is a skill not many pianists have or can do. It does take a lot of talent to be able to do it. Not all accompaniments are good either.
Arguably one of the greatest IDOL shows ever. This performance. Then Laporsha's diamonds performance hands down a top 5 idol performance ever. No respect for her. S
Love seeing how deeply Keith & J Lo were affected.
Art is so powerful. It can help everyone open their hearts
I was surprised to see that J Lo didn't have a single tear in her eyes!! Keith was like me every time I watch this video!!
J lo was just making a sad face. (She doesn't actually have any emotions left.) Hollywood has sucked it all out of her and left a husk behind. 😄
Jlo has no soul . Devils play toy .
@ksmith9 so true
The pianist is fabulous at adjusting to the changes
I listen to this version of the song because it shows the reality of it and the heart and soul of the song. So sad to see she’s divorced now and that she got hurt again. I love how REAL Kelly is!!
Yeah, and I can relate to the story she wrote about. Some people just never should have been a parent because they suck at it.
The saddest part to me is that there’s a line in the song “He never asks for money”, he being her husband & father of her kids, and it turned out he tried to steal money from her.
I didn't know that she was divorced. Poor lady
@@donnamichalski2237 Why the “poor lady”?
1. Loads of marriages end in divorce. It happens and that’s nothing to be ashamed of.
2. She doesn’t appear to be unhappy either. In fact, she actually seems to be very happy with her kids and her work.
3. She is also not literally poor, as she is worth multiple millions.
At least her ex husband is there for her kids. At least give her that much.
❤i love your song
Music is supposed to either make you remember ...or..... forget. This song does both. Thank you . I'm a retired combat vet, sitting here with tears rolling down my face.
Thank you
Agreed
Same here brother! This performance got me then and still gets me now Hooah!🫡🤙🙏
Thank you for your service!
Thank you🙏🫂.
Parents are supposed to teach us how to be good people. For some of us, our parents taught us who NOT to be(or one parent)
Just love beautiful song and she sings it so beautifully
So true.
I have two parents that taught me what not to be
Facts
My mom, my bio dad and my step dad all taught me what kind of parent I didn't want to be. Now I have an amazing husband who is an amazing father and this song just hits deep. ❤ Some of us became better than our parents 💖. Wishing you all the best.
Who's listening this in 2024
Usually at least 3 times a month since it was released
Me. Devastated because her husband didn’t cherish her.
I'm a male , propa old school grunger , n this song stirs emotions in even me 😢
I'm here baby
I’m here still crying the little girl inside of me understands every word in this song
If you don’t tear up to this video, you’re not human.
AGREED !!! ❤
yeah me looking at JLo, what, not even one tear? Keith Urban bawling his eyes out😭 What a lovely man.
I come here to heal when I need to cry, I haven’t spoken to my dad in 8 years because his love isn’t free
I'm sorry 😢I hope you're ok and have a great life, surrounded by people who love you the way you deserve.
Piece by Piece - Kelly Clarkson
And all I remember is your back
Walking towards the airport, leaving us all in your past
I traveled fifteen hundred miles to see you
Begged you to want me, but you didn't want to
But piece by piece, he collected me up
Off the ground, where you abandoned things, yeah
Piece by piece, he filled the holes that you burned in me
At six years old and you know
He never walks away
He never asks for money
He takes care of me
He loves me
Piece by piece, he restored my faith
That a man can be kind and a father could stay
And all of your words, they fall flat
I made something of myself and now you wanna come back
But your love, it isn't free, it has to be earned
Back then I didn't have anything you needed, so I was worthless
But piece by piece, he collected me up
Off the ground, where you abandoned things, yeah
Piece by piece he filled the holes that you burned in me
At six years old and you know
He never walks away
He never asks for money
He takes care of me
'Cause he loves me
Piece by piece, he restored my faith
That a man can be kind and a father could stay
Piece by piece
Piece by piece,
I fell far from the tree
I will never leave her like you left me
And she will never have to wonder her worth
Because unlike you, I'm gonna put her first and you know
He'll never walk away
He'll never break her heart
He'll take care of things, he'll love her
Piece by piece, he restored my faith
That a man can be kind and the father should be great
Piece by piece
And yet another man has showed her that a man can be pathetic and a father will leave sadly.
This was the most raw and real expression I’ve witnessed
Wow!
So beautiful.
She affected the whole room.
❤️
So incredible ❤
Watch her American Idol winning performance! 😭
❤❤
Kelly is the real dea, as a person and a performer. She is deserving of every success.
She’s everything
real dea 🤣
Imagine how hard it is singing a song about your pain infront of a lot of people. Respect to kelly clarkson for that
when a broken child speaks the truth and uses that beautiful voice to share her heart with us… fantastic
I always come back to this.
This just proves how imperfections arent always bad. This was a groundbreaking performance.
Kelly Clarkson has the most soulful voice it's very moving
Kelly clarkson l is a very popular in your office with the family of my life ❤so
My Gram told me at the age of 12. In her words. A mother teaches her daughter how to Love! Most fathers don't realize and most often don't see, That a father teaches his daughter how she should be Loved! I said this to my daughter many, many times. I said it to her father! Some father's just don't understand how very important they r to their daughters how their love shapes them in life!
This song breaks me. My "dad" left me when I was 4 & I always swore to myself I'd make sure my kids had a better dad than I did. And they do. We've been together 22 yrs, our kids are 12 & 13. He's everything for our kids that my dad never was for me.
He wasn't your dad kid, he was a genetic donor, don't ever forget that
Oh I know the feeling, God sent me an angel through my husband. Awesome father to our kids.
My bio-dad was in and out of my life for my whole childhood. I'd see him on special occasions, and if I went to my grandmother's house. I can remember praying, as a 13 year old girl, that he'd come see my basketball game. He did come, but he left before he ever said a word to me. That was par for the course with him.
This song can honestly be about my adoptive dad and my husband. My mom remarried when I was 16. Her new husband took me in as his own and adopted me before I turned 18.
Around the same time that my mom and my dad started dating, I started dating my husband. We've been married for 22 years also and have 4 boys together.
I think collectively my dad and my husband healed my little girl heart!
YOU made him leave HO!
Your a good mommy. Congratulations
I am so blown away by Kelly. She is truly a powerhouse. Her voice, her stage presence, her vulnerability. Heck, just being able to belt while on the verge of tears?? She’s incredible. I hope she’s doing better these days ❤️
Still such a beautiful song. Sad he (husband) didn't live up to all her amazing words. Hard to believe someone walked away from her. Her re-do is great.
I mean, is he still there for their children? That's her biggest message
The song is actually about her father and her stepfather who actually raised her, until the last verse she references her at the time husband.
I can't think of another performance where the artist "breaks" and the audience lap it up more. They knew it, the judges (Keith especially) knew it and the piano player knew it. This wasn't just a song it's a life moment given music. I thought of it like being on a therapist couch and singing your story. Incredible
You know the part where you’re trying to catch your breath from crying hard, this song does it every time. I feel every emotion in that even though I’ve never had anything like that happen to me. My kids have, but they have an amazing stepdad that has taken all that pain away and shown them what love should be from a father. Hugs to anyone out there that has had this story she tells so beautifully.
C-c-c-c-c-c-c-catch my breath
My real father left my mom pregnant with me and moved on to the next woman and got her knocked up, then another woman but he only stayed for the youngest. Thank god for my dad who put his name on my birth certificate and raised me as his own and showed me what a father should be. So this song is extremely relatable to me
Wow such a powerful song, and the pianist still follows her every break..watching june 2024,whos wif me?
January 2025
This is, hands down, the best version
This performance was legendary...it made a grizzled 50 year old man go to pieces.....Incredible.
That girl and Keith Urban crying just gets me.
Kelly is the real deal.
Love her forever.
Such a strong, talented young lady .
Whoever is playing that piano deserves an Emmy. The level of restrain is remarkable. He was calm when she was wavering and he lifted her up as she took flight. So... damn....good.
you can see that it hits Keith Urban in the first few lines
Sent this to my kids father last week. He left 7 years ago. My kids are fabulous ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Well done you :)
ME TOO!! He's really never had anything to do with them (triplets)...
At this point, they are 11, haven't seen him in 6 years, don't remember him, and don't want to know him.... 😢 It's heartbreaking!! Idk how a "parent" can do it!
I'm so sorry.
You are amazing.
Ryan and Kelly were at the birth of American Idol. Now they are all grown up.
She sang this for all of us.
What breaks my heart… he ended up walking away.
All the fatherless children and adults can really feel this. RIP to my dad. Wish he could’ve spoken to me before he died.
I don't care how many times I listen to the song I cry every time. Been there done that thank you thank you so so much
I’m a strong man but I get teary eyed when I see her emotions from singing this beautiful song!! 2024!!
One thing about me is that I'll cry every time this video comes on. Such an amazing performance.
Imagine that baby, in the womb, hearing a voice like that, it must be so nourishing, and what a connection it must instill between mother and son.
If you ever felt abandoned in your life, listen to this song and just bawl, feel the pain and let it all out. Pure authentic therapy. You will feel so much bettwr after. Thank you Kelly ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
She just saying the hell out of that song it's not fair already seen it so many times she is beautiful good job Kelly
Still makes me tear up when she starts getting emotional
The love of a parent is irreplaceable but with God’s love we’re able to live beyond the pain - piece by piece. Kelly, thank you for expressing this emotion in such a beautiful song. So many of us appreciate it. 2024, still listening and being moved by it.
She is such an amazing singer. Amazing...and that song! My goodness.
Love her so much
Hope she is doing way better with life.
January 2025 and it still hits
Kelly is the coolest celebrity ever.
And uber talented
She puts her hurt right out there for all of us. One of the great emotional performances of our time.
This song has me full blown sobbing every single time 💔
I’m a Metalhead and this Song made me Cry😢Good Stuff
This breaks me into tears everytime, my father left me when I was 9 an never once told me he loved me, so I made sure that the father of my child would never do that to my daughter! I want for her what I couldn't have, but I wish so badly I could have had a relationship with my father... 😭
The emotions displayed during live performances like this can never be recorded in a studio. No doubt, when anyone hears "American Idol", the first image in their mind is Kelly, and this performance highlights why she is the idol queen. She's always been classy, love her.
The most emotional performance of a song, EVER. I cry every time. I'm sure this is my 20th time watching it.
Never gets old!!
2023 stil watch it time to time!
I have never seen a performance that affects me like this one. Literally cry every time. Kelly is amazing.
This hits me in my heart! This is literally my Dad!! My best friend showed me not all men abuse you. He showed me what a kind and loving man is.
This version should be on Apple Music. Maybe I’m just speaking for myself but this version speaks to me more than the others.
It’s on there
@@teiandracampbell8852 I’m saying the live version should be on apple and it’s not
Had to come back and relisten. No song hits harder than this one and it’s because of the emotion in it and of course her voice.
2024 and that piano player is still #1 in my book - insane amount of awareness and feel for what is going on in the moment. What a beautiful soul Kelly is and what a beautiful pianist.
Kelly is not only talented but she is also kind, loving, funny and gorgeous ❤
She's one of the best singers in this world and one of the most lovely Humans ❤️
I absolutely love this emotional song. Kelly has a real amazing voice....So damn talented !!!!!❤
Her voice is incredible. She deserves so much more recognition from her peers than she actually gets.
i always come back to this.
this performance is one in a million, such an amazing singer and so beautiful and real
This version is so much better the record. The emotions 😢 are so real beautiful.
I grew up with both my parents, but my father was a narcissist, I sometimes think it would have been better to grow up without him.
Narcissists are so toxic they like making you feel like something is wrong with you.
You end up always questioning yourself.
This is my story too. My father was an alcoholic and noone understood how he abandoned us in the home. No truth to his parenting.
So dam true!! Even at 46 years old with an DNP degree still always wonder what was wrong with me.
So dam true!! Even at 46 years old with an DNP degree still always wonder what was wrong with me.
Our dad left us when I was 12 and my mum had 2 rebellious teenagers to take care of on her own. I take my hat off to her. Kelly you are amazing to wear your heart on your sleeve singing this song. I too was crying with you, as were many others. Life for many are not as it should be, as long as we can be rocks for our own children. Love this song.❤
NEVER BE SORRY! THIS SONG WILL FOREVER BE WHAT IT SHOULD BE....FOR EVERY SINGLE PERSON ALIVE, THAT CAN FEEL THIS, OR IS, OR HAVE GONE THROUGH THIS! AMEN
Arguably the best I’ve ever seen. Raw, inhibited ,and honest. I am forever thankful for this❤🙏
Stunning true song, parents have a lot to answer for, they screw up your life. Only the strong minded make life worth something
There's a line about Van Gogh in a Doctor Who episode (stick with me here), something like "He took his pain and used it to show the color and beauty of the world." Absolutely what Kelly is doing here.
This song will never die this is the greatest song ever
Pure 1000% raw authentic powerhouse talent, vocals, emotions. Damn ‼️‼️One of the greatest LIVE performances of all time. Pure rawness ❤
I was abandoned when I was few months old and piece by piece hurts to know that I wasn't loved.
This is just one of those peformances that give you goosebumps or makes you emotional no matter how many times you watch it the first american idol and still the best kelly Clarkson is a star
Kelly and J Hud are the original American Idols! 💯💜💜👊
I still have high regard for "Because of You" but "Piece By Piece" is an emotional wrecking ball. I believe this song could reduce a death row inmate to tears. It does me.
This was so raw and uncut, and that is what made it a beautiful heartfelt performance!
I’m 62 and last saw my father when I was Two 💔 Deep Tears With Deep Feelings 🙏🏼😔 Mrs Kelly THANK YOU ‼️ WITH ALL THE LOVE IN MY HEART ♥️
THANK YOU 🙏🏼 ‼️🥰
This touches me like no other what a phenomenal performance
The audience and judges knew it's going to be an emotional performance, still couldn't keep their composure. It really hurts yet exhilarating at the same time. There's not another performance like it. The American Idol.
I’m a 41 year old man sitting here sobbing listening to this knowing the pain in my sons heart because his “mom” walked out of his life at a very young age.
Bless you brother
I can so relate!! I cry everytime!! Love kelly
The american idol full circle story. Inaugural winner, singing about her journey, at the anniversary show, bringing everyone to tears. UNREAL
Very emotional song! I break down watching every time.
I can often listen to this song on repeat for 30 minutes straight while driving to work. It always makes me cry. Kelly has been through so much.
I cried watching this in my cell 2016😢 so I’m back 2024 🔥🔥
Can’t blame it on the hormones…I’m crying now. I cry every time I hear it. She left her heart on that stage. I mean she opened old wounds and let that ish flow out of her and everyone feels it. Her voice is amazing
Now that is music. Something that touches emotions and makes you feel what she is saying. That is music.
When we first come into this world, we are welcomed by a loving, caring and protective embrace from a man. That man is our dad, the first and only man in this world who truly loves us and loves us UNCONDITIONALLY. There can be guys who love us when we grow up but it is hard to find a man who loves us like a father loves his daughter. And that guy is one in a million☺️❤️
Beautiful 😢
I called my dad when I was 37, to see if we could have a relationship. I had not seen him in 20 years. He broke my heart again.
Hope you managed to heal . So sorry
I’m sorry he wasn’t who you needed. You deserve better.
I know how you feel! I called my dad when I was 32 hadn’t seen him in 12 years told him to call me he said he doesn’t have time saw him at his funeral. No one knew me and my 3 sisters were his kid’s!
I'm sorry you didn't get the father every child deserves. You are not alone in this.
My 35 nday gift to myself was to try to reach out to mine one last time. My effort fell where it always had, but i felt a tremendous amount of peace afterward. Still do to this day. I hope you are at peace as well.
Still after all this time... every time I hear this, tears.. I'm so proud of you, Kelly..
As many times as I return to this performance, I'm right there with her every note. Incredible.
