- What's up my dudes, in this video, my buddy Kazuki and I get out on the lake and test out the new prototype swimbait from DRT, the Klash Frenzy. The Klash Frenzy is the latest swimbait coming from DRT and becoming the largest swimbait that they will make. At 16 1/2" long and only weighing 10oz, this bait is super unique. We go over our first impressions and break down some of the features and reasoning of this awesome bait!

I really like what KZ said about using the reel instead of the rod to impart the action on the bait, and the bit about feeling the stretch in the line and planning to switch to FC on a future trip to see how it changes the manipulation of the bait. It's these little details that can make a huge difference in your game.
Yup, there’s so much that goes into actually working these glide baits properly and each one can swim very differently.
Just picked up a Tiny, Klash 9, and Ghost during the WCZ X DRT drop these last weekends. Excited to fish them this upcoming season.

Im a little late on a comment came back to this video but what I would suggest for the line is to maybe do braid backing to leader I do this for my swimbaits an use 24lb dragoncall from Megabass or Copoly and never had issues with landing fish. But I find that it def helps with keeping the gear ration as high as possible cause u can def put more braid vs mono which will allow less line to leave the spool keeping the reel pretty filled up and keep that line per turn the highest.
Y’all should make a vid of y’all going out and only fishing the 16+ inch baits, that would be sick 🎣🎣🎣

the big bait game seems to be in a really weird place right now. there so many big baits on the market now a days yet im seeing less and less content of ppl catching double digit fish on them. to this day ive never really seen a monster swimbait out perform an 8 inch hud, 10 inch mag draft, a deps 250 or really anything under 10 inches. its a very interesting topic.
For sure, those really giant baits really only get bit in those instances where the stars really align just right and you’re really only fishing for the biggest fish in the lake. That’s the mindset that the Japanese have when making those massive lures.
8-10” baits get bit the best though, that’s for sure. The stars don’t have to align as perfectly but you can also only catch smaller fish on those baits. It’s a great topic to discuss and maybe I’ll go more in detail on that topic in a separate video
Heard the same thing from Oliver Ngy, the investment in throwing these big bait is just not a good one. Always fun to throw big baits though.

People commenting on the action of the bait when it is so close to the boat just don't know. Maybe homie used the wrong size line. You can't judge a bate based off of one video. Brother I sincerely appreciate the content. I don't have the stones to invest in baits over 10 inches but one day soon. Thank you for the content and please keep it up. Tight lines brother.
@Matt Otis I'm on the ca delta. We are known for big bass. Now days they are few and far in-between. Keep fishing brother. You will nail that thick double digit. You have them around.
Trust me, even we were really trying to figure out the swim. A bait of that size takes a bit of time to actually understand and be able to fish it properly. Hopefully the next time the bait is in a video, it’ll be swimming even better!
@Matt Otis where in East Tennessee that’s where I live I know a lot of people that are catching 10lb plus fish in East Tennessee on trout glide baits

So about the lines between jdm and US, do they still hold the same strength equally?
That’s something I need to run some tests on. I never compared them like that however I never had issues with JDM Iines.

My boat is a 14’ Gregor, it’s wide, like 4 1/2-5’ wide which is really nice to have. I have a 15hp on mine but wish I had a 20-25hp but that 15 moves me good

The Frenzy being a proto type doesn't seem to have a smooth fluid side to side as the K9. Killer looking bait though, looking forward to the follow up videos. 👍🏼👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼
I’m sure line that I was using has lot to do with bait to not swim properly.

There were definitely a few times were it looked just like a K9 but it was definitely a challenge to get it to swim fluid 100% of the time but that was really our first time trying the bait so hopefully after a couple more trips, KZ can dial it in!

Abu Garcia pro rocket 10:1:1 is a fast reel, maybe that would work?
The line pick up on Tatula 300 8.1 is about as same as the Revo beast rocket since tatula has bigger diameter spool than Revo. If I remember correctly Revo rocket picks up 43” per turn and What I use takes 42.9”
Would the Abu Revo beast rocket be fast enough? I think that's the only reel faster than the 8.1 Daiwa.

Lol, I took my son and his friends fishing last weekend and the largest one I caught was about the same size as that bait. Sad thing is that was good for me. Just typical debo dinks.

Unfortunately, those rods are only sold in Japan, you would have to have a connect in Japan to get one. A LDC custom rod would be the closest thing we have here in the states

It’s built with the mindset of bass but I could imagine someone using this thing for muskie for sure!
How can a bait that big be single jointed? There used to be a guy in the Bay Area that made baits about that big, but they were three or four jointed. They were used to troll for record trout on Lake Tahoe.
With precise weighting and tuning. Definitely hard to get a bait this large as a glide to swim properly and consistently
