      ??? Can you shoot 36 holes of golf with it too lol? I'm guessing the graph will will mean bupkis once a human being comes into the equation, head tension, foot technique etc.. Not saying it isn't a nice pedal. Just blown away by your excitement for the graph comment. Just like those golf club commercials... I should be shooting par every hole, no slice

      @@wyattlilly9495 A pedal isn't like a golf club, you aren't going to "miss" the bass drum. I mean that the graph really shows someone like me who doesn't play direct drive what the benefits are and how someone like me could customize a direct drive pedal to feel like a chain drive pedal with greater speed.

      @@JakeStaffin "How someone like me could customize a direct drive pedal to feel like a chain drive pedal with greater speed"
      That's not exactly how they work out in the end. If you can't hit a certain BPM on Iron/Speed cobras, you won't better results on a direct drive. I'll give Tama that the Dyna Syncs have that cobra feel, but greater speed only comes with practice. I think what Wyatt meant was don't be taken in by graphics. If a direct drive pedal doesn't come with a learning curve after playing anything else for years, all these will do for a player trying to move to direct drive is hide their bad technique from them. I was actually more impressed by the Iron Cobras than anything else in the line, and would have just bought a new pair of those, but the damn cobra coil and crappy drive shaft nixed that.
      Direct drives just "feel" faster, but you aren't getting faster pedals til you step to the 1k mark and above.

    I like how they (Drum Companies) come up with these names Optimized Transmission design. Slap a important sounding name to it and give it a high tech look and "wall la" ............ I did play it and it does feel really nice. When you flip the beater back with your finger and let it go, it goes back & forth for almost 2 mins. (not that it makes it a better pedal) but it shows how balanced and controlled the action is. Another really good pedal imo is Axis with 4 or 5 encased bearings through out the pedal.

      its an iron cobra with a different pedal surface and some polish... compare the pedals. except the dyna doesn't have adjustable beater angle. other than than you are paying for a solid bar of metal between the beater and pedal. no reason this thing should cost 400$ more... its insane. its identical to the cobra, and that pedal is still overpriced.

      700$ for a pedal that has less adjustment capability than an iron cobra but is made on the exact dies of the iron cobra...compare the two. the pedal is identical. just a different foot board surface. but if you had that linkage, i bet you could switch it with iron cobra's and it'd be nearly identical feeling. the only thing you probably pay for is upgraded bearings. i've never seen something priced soooooo high that is just another thing. it'd be like charging 700$ for the old flexi glide iron cobra.

    I've used a Tama Iron Cobra Double bass pedal for years. I'm considering getting this but I'm not understanding some of the engineering. At 1:47, they explain that the amount of force you apply vs the angle of the beater is NOT linear like it is in a chain drive pedal. I can see how they achieved this by using an L shaped link. However, they don't explain WHY this decision was made. My understanding is that other direct drive pedals are linear. Am I wrong on that? This is something I never see reviewers talking about. Any insight into this would be most helpful.
    I have not been able to demo any direct drive pedals as my local music stores don't have floor models of them.

    • @ivanbajovic3476
      @ivanbajovic3476 Рік тому

      I never understand need for large cam. Smaller cam = higher speed of the beater and less movement of the footboard (which is good thing). When you set the cam in the middle position between L (large) and S (small), the speed is similar to Iron Cobra, but if you want higher speed includes less effort just set the cam on S (small) position. That's my point of view.

    • @mauricewanink1452
      @mauricewanink1452 3 місяці тому

      All direct drive pedals have an exentric feel because of the mechanism. They can not feel lineair like a chain or strap with a circle shaped cam. It's impossible. On the other hand you can change the feel of an chain or strap drive from lineair to exentric by changing the shape of the cam.

    • @jphifer2848
      @jphifer2848 3 роки тому +4

      Yes, give it a while. Almost any new pedal feels cumbersome & awkward at first. Fortunately, every part of the Dyna (except the spring tension) has index markings, so you can get it back to the factory settings. I like to work with the factory settings for a while before adjusting a pedal too much. You can end up chasing a set-up, adjusting too many things, and get the pedal out of whack. I love the Speed Cobra, but have grown to enjoy a friend’s Dyna Sync a lot. Speed Cobras are really nice, but TAMA has brought a very credible entry to direct drives.

      They look like Trick pedals but with a standard extension spring. They look cool, but I never could get used to direct drive. Also not a fan of the metal-esque logo on the footboards.
      Strangely enough, the best-feeling pedal I ever used was the PDP BOA. It was like playing the bass drum with my brain, like I wasn't even aware there was a pedal. Unfortunately, it was also one of the worst-feeling pedals - it was a little too adjustable. I couldn't duplicate the good settings, and of course it had serious reliability issues.
      I think my ideal pedal now would be something like the Perfect Balance pedal, minus the problematic folding mechanism, but a double pedal, and with DW's Delta I hinge from 25 years ago.

    I don't want to shit-post on anyone who happens to like this set of pedals - far from it, it is just that I see several problems with it, that could have easily been avoided.
    I owned a pair of Speed Cobras (HP910LWN) , that overall were a great set of pedals for their 450€, but those had flaws, that I see repeated with this product.
    First problem being the weak drive shaft:
    Hence there are no bearings reducing the friction from motion it is bound to wear off with use, which results in latency in the drive shaft, which results in bad force transmission and noise emission.
    This gets handled better by ALL other brands arround that price-point.
    Secondly; Wtf were they thinking, when they put together the main pedal?!?:
    From the pictures it appears, that on the main pedal the beater-angle can not be changed independently from the footboard, due to their cheaper none-adjustable version of a beater holder, that can also be found on the 200-300€ versions of the iron and speed cobras (on a pedal that runs for 650€?!?). Why they chose to do this on these is simply beyond me.
    Thirdly: This problem with tama pedals bugged the hell out of me, while I was using my set of Speed Cobras. The inability to switch from a double-pedal into two single pedals is simply unpractical.
    Especially since it is not that difficult to redesign them in a way, that makes exactly that possible (put the second spring on the slave pedal and attach a hoop clamp to it - mission accomplished).
    This way in order to play on two basedrums you have to buy another single pedal - just silly.
    All of those cuts come down to the manufactoring-budget and the linked profit, that can be made per pair.
    On the Speed Cobras (which cost 200€ less) I found it acceptable, that those cuts are made, because there are no other option on the market for that price, that improved on these points.
    However for 600+€-direct-drive-pedals the situation is quite a bit different:
    There are the demon drives, which cost arround 600€.
    There are Trick-pedals for 700€.
    There are the Yamaha DFP9Ds for roughly 600€.
    In America you can get a pair of axis A-longboards for roughly 600$
    And if one would choose to pay arround 1000€ (only 350€ more) there are high-end options like Czarcie Kopytos (my current driver), Trick Pro Big Foots or perhaps machined DWs if you would really like to burn your money ;D.
    My point is, that there are so many better options than the Dyna Sync and I really don't see the point for it existing.
    It is just Tama's weak attempt to enter an already over-saturated market and due to this form of extensive marketing feals like a cheap cash-grab to me.
    I like Tama, but this is a weak entry in my book.

    That pedal is 1/2 Iron Cobra. Should have named it the "Dyna Cobra". I'd be more interested in it because the name "Dyna Sync" is really meh, and doesn't grab my attention. The name "Cobra" is iconic in the industry and it's surprising Tama didn't take advantage of that. A little shallow, I know, but I think these things matter here, the same as they would when buying a car or something

    Tama bass pedals don't hold up. I had an Iron Cobra double, and a Speed Cobra double, and they played good for 3 or 4 months, then they started falling apart. The pieces would literally fall off during gigs. Then after about 6 months, the slaves started to seriously lag and I had enough. I had a Pearl Eliminator for 12 years before that. It was a rock solid pedal that was smooth as silk. I only tried the Tama pedals because my brother was drunk one night and fell on my kit in the garage, and snapped my Pearl pedal, so I figured I would try the Tamas. After a year of Tama, I bought another Pearl Eliminator. Had it for 5 years now, never grease it or do anything to it. Set it up and play.
    I do however like the Iron Cobra Hi hat pedal. I have used one for 4 years that I bought off Craigslist for $75 brand new. It's held up well, although I did replace a strap on the foot board.

    Am I the only one that skipped these and went to Trick after years playing Iron Cobras? What is it, 3 decades now that y'all have been making these things, and all along drummers have been telling you, fix the drive shaft. Eat the bit of profit and make a damn roller bearing shaft already! Yeah it plays like a cobra but if that's what someone wants, that's what they'll buy. Y'all basically built in failure points to what was a solid Iron Cobra foundation.
    I love Tama Drums, but you nerfed the pedals with that dumb "cobra coil", y'all are killing me with this here. Pretending that it's anything more than a direct drive Cobra is just disingenuous. It's literally just a couple bearings and a cam design away from being a speed cobra!
    Imho if you're gonna spend 700 bucks on a pedal you might as well just spend the 1k on a Trick set, ACD, or Czarcie Kopyto. Otherwise, have fun replacing your drive shafts once you figure out they go slack in less than a couple years of heavy play.
    Overall I liked the feel of the Dyna Syncs I played, but they aren't worth what you're asking for them at all. Lose the stupid "cobra coil" novelty, spend the money you save on springs to make roller bearing shafts. Please!

  • @treatb09

    all it takes is that linkage, and you could convert an iron cobra to this drive... but they decided to sell a pedal for 700$ that is exactly identical to an iron cobra... fuck this company, fucking rip offs. if i had the tools i could make a conversion in no time and just use my iron cobra identically to this dyna sync pedal. my iron cobra has a short pedal, but still. this company is ripping you people off. these are identical to iron cobras. cobras were overpriced when they were the flagship... this is absurd.

  • @treatb09
    @treatb09 4 роки тому +1

    SCAM! its a drum pedal... identical to iron cobras. nothing special. its a linkage between a beater and a foot. they think they they deserve 400$ for that little metal bar between the pedal and the beater. pedal surface don't mean shit. board don't either. nothing new, or fancy or redesigned just a scam.. IT EVEN HAS THE BASS RING CLAMP OFF TO THE SIDE STILL. SO THE PEDAL CAN'T BE TIGHTENED DOWN TO THE CENTER OF THE DRUM WITHOUT ROLLING OVER
    even if it was entirely redesigned. its a fucking drum pedal in this day an age where every part is machined by a fucking robot and pumped out for 1 cent per part. just to rip you people off.
