Seeing the scores for this is what real golf should be like. It shouldn't be the top 20 dudes just absolutely wrecking the course. This course is a true challenge.

This is how all of the course should be set up for the pro tournaments. Leave the rough extremely high, narrow fairways, fast greens, then the ball striker and most accurate players will prevail. Stop all this silly nonsense of 20 under etc etc. It’s real golf not carpet golf.
Yes love seeing all those + scores the 06 07 18 were the only ones with all the players above par but 06 and 07 had the winner at +5 sometimes that is higher than the cut at the masters or open but rarely ever do at any other I think there never was one
I agree. It's no fun watching the winning score be -20. I think all events on the pga tour should have winning scores of single digits under par with the majors having a winning score of near even par. US open winning score should be over par. That would actually make the game more strategic and reward the best ball strikers and putters.
Ehh i like seeing high scores but this is too much. They ruined the course like they've done before. Bumpy dead greens don't prove anything besides who's the luckiest.
After watching this again I realized why I like watching Tiger so much, he's all over the course and still shoots in the 60's! Koepka and DJ are boring, down the middle, on the green putt, next hole same.
When Tiger was at his best this is also how he played. Except he hit it closer to the hole than Koepka or DJ, and Tiger made waaaay more putts. Also because he’s so good scrambling from trouble he almost never made a bogey and even on his bad days could shoot 69-70

One thing I love about Fox coverage is the leaderboard box in the corner of the screen, that should be a regular thing.

In 2018 they replaced the 18 hole full playoff with a 2 hole aggregate one.

Shinnecock is pretty unforgiving if you can't find the fairway. tiger shot an 80 on thursday so I guess your theory is only good for certain courses.
