- I'm using two different distortion chains panned left and right in this video. To this day I still can't believe that Meshuggah sounded like this in the early 90's! They were way ahead of their time. I absolutely love grooving along to this song. Hope you enjoy the video and share it if you liked it! Thank you and subscribe for more guitar and drum covers!

Agreed!!
Good stuff man.
Thanks so much!
Although this is an exceptional song, is funny how this kind of seems like mainstream metal (or just feels ‘basic’) compared to all their later music
I think I have to agree! I think it seems a little more mainstream when compared to all the metal music we have heard over the decades since this song was released. Remember, this song was released 1991! I wasn't even born yet haha! Also, a very important point to consider is that Metallica was a massive influence on Meshuggah. You can hear it in this earlier material. Even Jens sounds like James Hetfield to me during this period. I think Metallica's "...And Justice For All" album released 1988 was the most influential for young Meshuggah. The "chuggy" guitars remind me of early Meshuggah in some ways. Just my thoughts!
@@Tyler_Nazz they’ve stated Megadeth as an influence often, and you can really hear it on the first album. Has a very thrashy sound, some riffs and vocals on Gods of Rapture sound so much like early Megadeth.
@@CableReadyTechnoSIut they've cited both metallica and megadeth, their first band name was actually Metallien.
@@serbiansleeperagent I know, I’m just that dickhead who reduces “influenced by Metallica and megadeath” to “influenced by Dave Mustaine” lol.
@@CableReadyTechnoSIutwe’ve all been their 😂
Solid tone!
Thank you!
fuck yeah man this is badass.
i could never play the end haha i always try to focus of the rhythm for the beginning and can't add the extra notes
+Jerry Colvin Thanks so much for watching dude! Keep practicing!
Just think 2-3-2-3-2-2, that's the rhythmic pattern in terms of how many notes to play.
Really tight playing! Killer tone. Would you mind sharing your signal path? Amp/Vst? Noise gate?
This video was a while ago but from what I can remember, it was simply using Cubase only plugins/VST. I used a Marshall head, and I believe SM 57 on the center cone. I played with the head controls as much as I could but honestly the Cubase VST's have a lot of noise that I don't like. So I restrained that by lowering the gain and presence, the rest is EQ. For Meshuggah I like to make sure the palm mutes have a low-mid chunky sound and it has bite to the high end but its not too noisy. I find less gain and more pick attack obtains this best. I treat the guitar like a percussive instrument as I am a drummer too haha. So I get as much volume and clarity from the strings as I can by picking very hard. I find it really fun trying to emulate my guitar tone with some of my favorite songs. It teaches you about your gear and it's good ear training! Hope all that info helps. I will be posting more covers in the future with some more explanation of my signal I think.
@@Tyler_Nazz Thanks a lot for sharing! And yeah. I think Meshuggah's tone can be realised with fast pick attack, "round" low end and "chunk chunk" 3-note power chords. Meshuggah has really inspired me to find my tone.
FUCK YES BRO
YESSSSSSSSS!!!!
@@Tyler_Nazz 😂😂loved your cover
Tuning??
0:44 what was that?
I was trying to emulate the string noise in that section and it ended up sounding like poop, so I cut it out from the audio haha.
