Turkish Tulumba Recipe - Fried Sweet Dough with Sugar Syrup

  • In this video we are going to show you how to make piped sweet dough. Very popular tulumba recipe. In greek it calls τουλούμπα. You’ll like this very delicious fried doughs also you can eat this with honey.
    Melt unsalted butter in the hot water Add flour and stir it on the medium heat When it become unsticky and soft transfer the dough to another bowl so that it cools down quickly Directions for the sugar syrup Transfer water into a large pot over medium heat Add sugar When starts boiling add lemon juice and turn the heat off Transfer the cooled dough to the mixing bowl of a heavy-duty mixer. Add semolina and starch Then start adding your eggs gradually Mix well until it will become smooth Fill your piping bag with the dough. Pipe the dough into frying oil The vegetable oil must be room temperature, not hot Cut the dough with an oiled scissor Do not use knife to keep dough shape Turn up the heat low-temperature When they are fully browned them them out and directly transfer in to sweet syrup After 2 minutes take them out of the syrup, transfer in to a plate
    Ingredients for Tulumba Recipe:
    2 cups water
    2 tablespoons of butter
    3 eggs
    2.5 cups flour
    1 tablespoons of starch
    3 tablespoons semolina
    For the syrup
    3 cups sugar
    2 cups water
    a tablespoon lemon juice

    Omg! We made it and it tastes exactly like the tulumba that we ate in saudi arabia. Trust me, if you spent time to make it, it's worth it. I'm content,because this is my all time fav recipe that I had every ramadan since ma childhood . When we came back to ma country this was a major missing.     Amazing tulumba recipe!!! You remind me my sweet childhood!!!!!! Nowadays i cant find this great pastry, only in tradional bakery here in Greece and i don't understand why....!!!

    In my country we add rosewater and saffaron to syrup too,ı recommend to you do that.😉

    These look kind of like Mexican churros. Only churros are longer instead of cut short, and churros are rolled in cinnamon and sugar, and these are dipped in a syrup. A bit different but kind of similar also. They look wonderful. Can’t wait to try em.

    Do you have the recipe in grams and ml ?

      I make it with 330 ml jar water, same jar flour, 1 table spoon butter, solt 1/3 of small coffee spoon and 4 or 5 eggs 🥚 if they are big or small. Syrup - 1l water 💧 1 kg sugar and some lemon 🍋 juice and vanilla. I hope this will help you. This desert is very sweet and delicious.

    My kids just ruined doughnut dough and its a lot of material and is runny plus sticky. Cant make doughnuts with it so definitely will convert it into tolumba or something close to it. Thanks for this wonderful recipe

      Why are all the comments so race based? Dough nuts, churros, gulab jamun etc. Are similar but all tasty! No one race owns a recipe! Just enjoy the food!
