EVH was one of the most melodic songwriters of all time, over 100 million records sold, dozens of hit songs, multiple patents as a guitar and amp builder, and insane groove lock and rhythm playing, all served up with that amazing EVH smile.. because it all came from a joyful heart! As a guitarist this hit me hard . I remember when dimebag Darrel died and eddie donated one of his original frakenstrats to be burried with him . They were both complete heroes of mine and both taken way before their time. Eddie is the sole reason why I ever picked up a guitar and I was blessed to have seen van halen in concert on 2 occasions. He was my guitar hero hands down. It seems crazy to me that more people aren't talking about this, he was the greatest guitarist to ever live . There would be no dimebag or Steve vai if it wasn't for EVH . RIP TO THE GOAT
I didn't know that he was buried with a frankenstrat from Eddie. I do remember he was burried in a Kiss coffin. As a die hard Pantera and Van Halen fan I should have known that. Thanks brother
Dime wanted one of the yellow and black Charvels that Ed had coming out. Dime called Ed and asked him if he could get one of the guitars when it was available. Ed told him absolutely and that he would tape it up and paint it himself. Dime was killed before they were available, so Ed brought the original to the funeral, placed it in the casket and said, “Dime was an original. An original deserves an original”
@@pizzamon795 yeah Dime had asked Eddie to reserve him one of the black and yellow striped Charvels when they came out. Eddie offered to stripe and paint it himself for Dime. So after Dime was killed, Eddie brought THE original to have buried with Dimebag. If I remember correctly his words at the funeral were "Dime was an original. An original deserves an original"

Yeah with all the tremendous instrumental talent in country music,it only makes sense that Eddie would be revered. All the greatest players have that thing where their playing speaks to the body and soul. Ed’s story also reflects Americas story. A place where families could go to build on their dreams. This is far from the political posturing of today. Traveling across oceans, sucking it up by doing your day job and working tirelessly with passion to become extraordinary. True genius and perspiration that one. That smile when he was on stage.......................
Truly a genius, a pioneer of the guitar and tone, a musical god....there'll never be another like him....thank you for this heartfelt tribute, it is well deserved...we love you EVH.
I have been trying to get my fellow metal head buddies hip to Brad Paisley for years. They will not give him a chance, its bizzare. Closed minds, "country! NO!"". I don't feel that way, I'm from the middle of nowhere in the woods. While my brother was blasting Van Halen and Ozzy in our shared upstairs bedroom, Dad was playing Waylon and Johnny Cash downstairs. It just makes sense to me. Brad Paisley is a phenomenon to behold, his mix of technique and style is exciting, bringing something new to the game. R.I.P. Eddie Van Halen
Pete Thornsen: Tell your dudes they need an education. Do they know that Glen Campbell is considered one of the greatest guitarists of all time? EVH once asked Alice Cooper if he could book him a guitar lesson with Glen Campbell. Your friends are really out of touch with music. Tell em there are tons of videos for them to check out Glen. There's even one of him just shredding. Oh, in case they've never heard of Glen Campbell, he's a country writer, singer and musician.
@@cheril8891 sounds good, I have heard the name, but must admit that I am not familiar beyond that. Thanks for the response, but when it comes to getting people to open their minds about things, I've learned the hard way to just let it be. Too bad for people who don't want a wide variety of cool stuff to listen to, that truly is a shame.
Unbelievable songwriter, rhythm guitarist, lead guitarist, pianist, and just a great guy. Never affected by who he was.. He always tries to out people at ease around him because everyone was always in awe...
Those a beautiful words for my hero I've been chasing his music sense 78 I was 18 and I claimed to be a guitar player until I heard Eddie then I was a student of a guitar player until even now at 60 years old I know when I first heard Eddie Van Halen I never heard anything like it and I know I never will again only if God allows him to play on the other side and allows me to listen, R.I.P my hero of the six strings.
When I think of Eddie Van Halen, the first thing that comes to mind is that smile of his. that ear to ear contagious smile of his. I'm a drummer and I studied Alex's style because Alex is another phenomenal musician. His style fits their music perfectly, he can keep it tamed when it's not time for it to be about him, and a lot of drummers struggle with that. I do, we get so caught up it banging the hell out of those buckets and forget that it's not only about us. And then Alex can play some very complicated cross overs that don't seem to work on paper, but the key component is the musician! And Alex is definitely a musician, one of the very best! Just going to show it must be in the Van Halen DNA. I didn't play the guitar, my older brother does and he was learning when Van Halen was still playing with Roth. I remember my brother recording Eddie on MTV and buying VHS of him playing his solos just so he could watch over and over and then go practice over and over. Eddie was a huge inspiration for my older brother and he took the news of Eddie's passing pretty rough. But I did too. And it's because Eddie was larger than life. His soul is so bright that even if you didn't care for Van Halen music much, Eddie still reached you. And it's because of who he is. We lost a great musician, yes the world did. But more importantly the world lost one the of the brightest souls that we, who were alive during his time were lucky enough to share the planet with. there will never be another Eddie Van Halen. That is one of the few things I can say I'm absolutely sure of.
I am still kind of in shock about this. Van Halen is the soundtrack of my teens and beyond. Eddie Van Halen was mesmerizing to watch play that guitar like only he could do. This is still so difficult to accept. RIP EVH
I met Eddie in 1991. I was also trying to get Sober. I finally achieved that goal. So did he. It was my 15 minutes. But I’ll never forget the time that I spent talking to him and giving him an As Bill Sees it Book. He hugged me. That hug I will never forget !!!
Sad day for the music world..he was the most influencing innovative genius since hendrix..if there is a Mt Rushmore for guitar..he's on it..rip king eddie!
Eddie was trained to be a classical pianist. Open up a piano and you will see strings. At the end of the strings are hammers, when you depress a key the hammer strikes the string and the vibration from the string is transmitted to the soundboard through the bridges.. Eddie used his fingers like the piano hammers and played guitar 🎸 like a classical pianist. A harmonic genius for sure, but what really showed was his love 💕 for MUSIC 🎵. Those of us who share that love, loved Eddie, for being the personification of it in human form. The smile 😃, the movements, the grace and pure joy. You know there is a god, because Eddie was no accident. We really can’t say R.I.P. Eddie because I have a feeling he’s building heavenly guitars and keeping busy in heaven with his mom and dad.
These words expressed my very own thoughts in the most eloquent way. I will never say REST to Eddie. Peace brother. Be restless in peace. Your music is pure joy, energy, and now it is eternal.
Geo B He was trained in an unusual way. Learned piano from following instructor’s hand patterns. Won competitions playing Mozart, Beethoven. Praised for improvising to Beethoven ! He was already pushing the envelope at age 11, 12. When he picked up the guitar, covering songs, he admitted he always tended to make them all sound like him. He just had his own chords, own harmonies, own phrasings- that sounded like they came from outer space, yet millions connected with. Yes, Stravinsky sounds bizarre, too, yet, academic. Van Halen, however, touched people’s souls in the deepest way. That’s why millions of grown men and women are shedding tears for losing somebody essential to their being.
@@gokhanersan8561 I heard Eddie's playing walking into an ice arena June 1978 as a 12 y/o and I've seen them live 7 times and I too begged my dad for a guitar at 13 because of Eddie and cried when I heard he passed, but I'm a realist and a lot of what you're saying sounds like hyperbole, but that's OK, I get it.

The Fair Warning Tour was my first Concert. At the age of 16 in June 1981 at the Forum in Los Angeles. There energy and Presence was incredible. A life changing experience. RIP Eddie
@@audiosessions9257 I'm am jealous. I'd of given anything to see that tour. I was only 2 then, lol.
@@audiosessions9257 yeah, my brother got to see them in May of '81 still have ticket stub, I think it was $8.00.
@@jasonsabourin2275 be nice if concerts still cost that much. I just dropped $400 on 2 tickets for primus
R.I.P. Eddie you will be Greatly Missed. He has joined the World's Greatest Band in Rock an Roll Heaven.
Sadden my heart. He will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
RIP Eddie Van Halen condolences goes out to his family 🙏🙏
Truly a genius, a pioneer of the guitar and tone, a musical god....there'll never be another like him....thank you for this heartfelt tribute, it is well deserved...we love you EVH.
So sorry for your loss 💔 he was awesome.. RIP Eddie!🎸♥️
Oh Eddie.....my heart is crushed on the ground.....
Thx.. Beautiful. Eddie. Would love this!!!
Great stuff man thanks rip EVH
Nice tribute! RIP to the king.
Keith Urban NAILED IT
Unbelievable songwriter, rhythm guitarist, lead guitarist, pianist, and just a great guy. Never affected by who he was.. He always tries to out people at ease around him because everyone was always in awe...
Such a Impact he made in the Music business will never be forgotten. He was a very special person and will be greatly missed.RIP !!!!

Rip Eddie, you are a legend. My prayers and thoughts are with your family. 🙏
Rest In Peace Me Eddie Van Halen.... Thoughts & Prayers of Peace & Comfort to Family & Friends 🙏❤💙🤗✝️
RIP EVH
ROCK ON UP IN HEAVEN AND WATCH OVER US ALL HERE IN THIS UNIVERSE💜🍁🧡🍃💜🍂
I met Eddie in 1991. I was also trying to get Sober. I finally achieved that goal. So did he. It was my 15 minutes. But I’ll never forget the time that I spent talking to him and giving him an As Bill Sees it Book. He hugged me. That hug I will never forget !!!
Very nice tribute...RIP
Well said...💝🏆🎸👍🙏
Eddie was not trained to be a classical pianist, he just took piano lessons and never even learned to read music.
My heart is broken!!! He's one of the reasons I picked up the guitar
Nice to see the musicians stick together. I grew up with EVH.
You are soooo right!!!
RIP Eddie Van Halen
