    you’ve probably covered this in a video i haven’t watched yet but why were you so adamant you obtain a vehicle without a sunroof?

      I am taller than most at 6'9". Sunroofs typically retract into the cabin and reduce headroom an inch or two.

    kind of off topic but was squinting to see if you have chopped the fender liner for your front wheels? I live in the northeast now and have 33's on a gx 470. debating if I should trim the liner but not sure the repercussions (i.e. salt, rust). Utah to northeast is apples to oranges I know

    • @thelandcruiserproject
      @thelandcruiserproject  4 роки тому

      I have not trimmed my fender liners. I trimmed the front mudflaps to work around the rock sliders.
      Not sure what I'd do in your situation. Can you apply some heat to the liner and try and mold it out of the way?

      @@thelandcruiserproject thanks for confirming! That is a good suggestion, I have seen others do that... Assume the liners are there for a reason lol

    Would you own a LC 100 or LC 200 with 120k to 150k miles on it if you had a choice?

    • @thelandcruiserproject
      @thelandcruiserproject  4 роки тому

      Are the prices equal?

    • @rexbillme2710
      @rexbillme2710 4 роки тому +1

      The Land Cruiser Project $32k ish for 200 with 120k-150k miles and $20k for 100 with around 170-190k miles

    • @thelandcruiserproject
      @thelandcruiserproject  4 роки тому

      Those prices seem high, especially for the 100. In any case, the $10k difference is a lot, representing 50% more for the 200 than the 100. If money weren't an issue, go for the 200.

    Does this have the height control on it?

    • @thelandcruiserproject
      @thelandcruiserproject  3 роки тому +1

      Automatic Height Control wasn't an option on the 98-99 LC as far as I know. It was an option on the Lexus LX.

      I’m looking at a 2002 with 120,000 miles on
      It Has height control on it and I was wondering about what tire size I could run.

    Need advise .. I bought a used 09 Lexus Gx470 it has around 64k .. when to replace timing belt . As per the owner Manuel 10yrs or 90 k miles .Thnx

    • @thelandcruiserproject
      @thelandcruiserproject  4 роки тому +1

      You are due on time. I'd replace now, but you probably have more time before failure. There's no guarantee though...

    • @MaximumDIYGarage
      @MaximumDIYGarage 4 роки тому +2

      I would replace it for the piece of mind. Lexus states 90k miles or every 7 years. Sometimes having ultra low miles means the vehicle could have been sitting often, which is not good for rubber parts. Regular drives help to evenly distribute tension/stress on the belt, which prevents it from cracking /dry rotting.
      I’ve had it replaced on my 09 at 90k miles. I’d say, anything over 10 years old, needs to have a new timing belt regardless of mileage, just like tires!
      On the other hand, I’ve replaced a 22-year old timing belt on a 97 Celica with 203k miles on it and it looked brand new. Luckily the Celica has a 5SFE non-interference engine, so even if you wait til the belt breaks, it will not harm the engine while just leaving you stranded.
      The 2UZ engine, however will suffer catostrophic damage ( pistons hit the valves) if the belt breaks, so it’s a good idea to have the belt changed in a timely manner.
      Make sure to do water pump, pulleys and the radiator too since all those require drain of coolant. Plus, removing the radiator will make it so much easier to do the TB job! Good luck!
      Check out a couple of my videos on GX470 engine work. ua-cam.com/video/FLpE8L5Yx5A/v-deo.html

      All great tips! Thanks for adding all that. My timing belt was only at 70k miles but had 12 years on it. It was the second timing belt and I didn't know if it was a Toyota belt or not. Now I don't worry about.

    Is there a good market for the LX steering wheels? A buddy sold me a newly wrapped one for my 06, and I’m debating having the old one restored. Worth it to restore and sell?

    • @thelandcruiserproject
      @thelandcruiserproject  4 роки тому +1

      It takes a special type of person to want to pay big bucks for a steering wheel restoration. It might not be for everybody.
