Ok yeah I definitely agree that like 80% of this was pretty same lane in the pop/punk soundscape with some bratty lyrics, add to that some pretty short songs. The only really change of pace mood wise looking back were maybe Avalanche and Dare To Love Me, but neither really wowed me, she’s had better ballads and Avalanche started to go back to being a bit more uptempo perhaps as it went along anyway. On that Basis I’ll give it a 5.5 or a 6.


Also some of the similar sounding punk songs even had some similar feeling chorus structures and stuff I felt, so It was a bit hard on first listen to discern them, but upon re listen some of them had some catchy parts (Deja Vu ironically I liked the flow of, and of course the ‘Ayooo’ as you noted with Bite Me) or sections that offered some slight variance (Verses in Bite Me and Love It When You Hate Me, for example, I thought F.U. had a bit of a different sounding groove to it that I really liked so put it #2.


As for lyrics going back to her personal stuff in the 2010’s, yes the missing link there is her album before this one, HEAD ABOVE WATER (Feb 2019), which was preceded by the title track in late 2018, being her comeback after haven’t released an album since the self titled (Nov 2013). 


Going back to take a quick flick through both those albums to see what I remember hearing past the singles, they both have far more musical and lyrical variance than Love Sux has, (discounting maybe ‘I’m A Mess’ (with YUNGBLUD, not sure if you reacted to that one before) on the deluxe which must’ve came out along with the single in Nov 2022 - 10 months after the standard). I listened to the two others on the deluxe ‘Pity Party’ and I also thought ‘Mercury In Retrograde’ had a bit of a funny lyric take as well. MORE COMMENTS AND RANKING IN REPLY:
