Thanks Pierre!! Thank you so much recently my 1984 380sl has been driving like a diesel, my father said it was my oil pump due to the photos of my camshafts being clean and not slushed, I’ll probably take the pan off since I didn’t check when purchased
Thank you so much for information! Dad and I just started our 450SEL after 2 years of sitting and I was concerned about oil pressure being too high. Seems like it's normal!
Recently had my oil pressure relief valve get stuck closed or fail somehow on my 1982 300D. The pressure driving on the freeway was so high it caused the hose going to the oil cooler to blow off, sheering the metal connection. Lost oil pressure immediately and engine is toast. Still turns over but sounds awful. Amazing that such a small part could cause catastrophic damage. Currently looking for a used OM617 engine to save my baby.
hi Pierre. we have a 1990 euro w124 230E and the pressure gauge is always at 3, never drops down. even if the engine is turned off (switch is set to on position). Any idea why is that? and if its a problem, do you think I should spend money fixing it? Love your videos. keep up!!!
Hi! I have a 260 E, M103 engine. When I start the engine, pressure gauge goes up to 3 bar. However, when the engine heats up, the gauge drops to 1.3 until 1 bar. You said that readings like 1.5 and 2 bars in warm engine is acceptable. Something is wrong with my engine?? Thanks!!! Nice video!
I've read that 0.3 or 0.5 bar is acceptable for a turbo diesel, om602 turbo with squirters. Is this true? at very hot idle, mine goes to 0.5 bar but easily jumps up to 2 bar at fast idle or 1000 rpm. 15w-40 is my oil.
Hello Pierre.Just bought a 1971 280s and the oil pressure guage immediately goes to 40 -all the way up)after I start the engine. It never goes down with driving or idling. It goes back to zero with turning the engine off.Is this normal?
Sharab, the oil pressure should reach 45 psi immediately when starting cold. When warm, the gauge should stay at 45 all the time, unless it is on a hot idle, where it should go down to 30. What kind of oil are you using?
Hi.I have a om602 2,5d engine in my w123.I have problem when the engine warms up the oil pressure goes under 1,and if I shut it off I can't start the engine. So I'm asking if u can tell me what could be the problem.is it oil pump, diesel pump or..I'm hoping for your reply.thanks
Hi Pierre Hedary i have a similar problem. my oil pressur drops to 0.5bar when the engine is very hot and also it crank slowly but when cold it crank normal i have an 1991 w201 2.5 NA Diesel
Hi. I have 1974 450 sel . Oil pressure is at or just below the 15 on idle at stop. It goes to top when you accelerate is this normal? I use non synthetic 10 40. Can i use synthetic oil ?....
Thank you so much , i am learning about these cars they are different from american cars, i like my Mercedes Benz so much! amazing machine , i will be asking u lots of questions!
on the 240d, no. It is a mechanical gauge, can you guess what your idle speed is? If it is set too high then they oil pressure gauge will stay pegged at all times, but it is not necessarily an issue.
Can't tell how much but I think I set it up higher than usual to reduce vibration. Thanks for your help, just discovered your channel and I think this will be a good alternative to the mercedessource channel soon! Good luck

Thanks for detailed explanation. I Have 1.9 on hot (90 Deg) engine.
My 80 300TD will drop just below 1 on a hot day (90+) at idle in D with AC on. Is this a concern? Thanks for all your helpful videos!
The car in the background is sick 🔥🔥🔥
which one?
A blue 250C/280C. It is a beautiful car.

I have an g350 om603, but the oil pressure is less than 1 when I stop the G with the air condition on

how is your oil pressure sending unit? It sound slike it might be giving a false reading. If the reading is true, time for a new oil pump!

What would cause oil pressure to start climbing to around 1.5 then pressure dropping close to .5 then immediately spike up to 3(max) on a cold start?
very good question...what model are we discussing? if this is a general question, i think the oil pressure check valve might be opening too soon.
It’s a 1984 190d with the OM601

does the engine turn at normal speeds, or does it crank slowly? the oil pressure issue sounds like a bad sending unit.
Hi Pierre Hedary i have a similar problem. my oil pressur drops to 0.5bar when the engine is very hot and also it crank slowly but when cold it crank normal

1. it is normal, and I think I would use 15w 40 conventional oil.

Hi I have a 76 240D W115 and the pressure shoots up to full 2-3 seconds after I start it and always stays at full reading. Is this normal?
yes- it should only come off of the "3" at warm idle!
The Pierre Hedary Mercedes-Benz Classic Specialist it never does! Is there something wrong?
