I've been a long-time fan of the Coulee as my "do it all" travel / EDC / hiking pack and just recently upgraded to the new Coulee 30. I've often said adding a separate laptop sleeve and some internal storage would make it the perfect pack. Looks like the Catalyst checks those boxes but unfortunately it removes the 2 additional exterior pockets that the Coulee has and which I find valuable. Even still, I'm super intrigued by the Catalyst and may pick one up.
Mine just came today and although its my first MR bag I am extremely impressed with the build quality, durability and use of industry leading materials. For the price you cant go wrong and if it doesn't replace your coulee I'm sure you'll find a use for it!

Would you choose this over the 2DAP for everyday use for someone who commutes a lot? Is the futura harness worth it?
I'd say yes if you carry heavy loads, if you tent to pack more , 2dap is a bigger pack, if you go light most of the days it will feel too big.I really enjoy it but if I dont take my gym gear, is little too big for EDC so I alternate with a smaller pack. Saying that for travel and hiking you need tougher and bigger bag so that sways it again towards 2dap. If I had to have just one bag it woold be 2dap. Mind you waterproofness is bad..
IMHO the water bottle pockets are kinda fail in the district series. Really hope they could add an elastic opening to or compression strap above the pockets but a bit disappointed that they simply turned back to the old design...

@@Engearment how resilient is it's resistance to rain? If you got caught out in a light rain, how long would it last before it got wet on the inside; and also if you were caught in a heavy storm? If you're not sure it's no problem, due to the price of the bag, I'd be willing to find out myself lol
26L IS A BIT BIG FOR LEGIT EDC..MAYBE 12-16

Hmm. I use a 30-35 pack every day. I could not get by with a 12-16l. I suppose it depends on what is in the pack and why. Take care.
