    Space Tier 1 seems to be 5 Space Points. Also Train Stations and Cult of the Hull Temple also count as Space buildings.

      Yeah.. I thankfully don't even have any OCD tendencies - but I'm really a min-maxer at heart, and I want things to be optimised and max efficiency. And look nice and organised at the same time. I love the Anno games, but it's much easier to get the best of both worlds there since the grids we operate with there aren't quite as limited as this one.

    • @axelhopfinger533
      @axelhopfinger533 Рік тому +1

      Nah, the game is still too poorly balanced at this point to be considered perfect. Because too many advanced building options are simply unnecessary to finish the game effectively.
      Also reorganizing a sector's layout is artificially complicated by the fact that demolished buildings cannot be removed when the sector storage is full with resources that building's demolition provides. With no option to just discard those resources to get on with it.

    Recycling specialisation is super powerful. Regarding the "industry buildings are 30% faster", this is great because the waste treatment centre is both recycling AND industrial, so it benefits twice here. It produces 30% more resources and 30% faster.
    Similar deal with the mushroom wall as it's recycling and agricultural, so it should be benefiting from two sets of "30% more resources" and the "food buildings are 30% faster".

    Considering how pointless is industry specialization perks compared to massive bonuses of agricultural and recycling sectors, I feel like the intention of player should be on somehow finding a way to develop a layout producing hybrid tier 2 sectors and building Tiqqun around those. IE 2 food/waste, 2 industry/waste and 2 space/pops.
    Is specialization weight of the building correlating with its pops or with its grid space? The former is more important to get that max hybrid specialization.

    Maybe I missed it, but is there anywhere to see how many "points" each building is worth toward specialization? In Game, or an external list?

    • @Caledorn
      @Caledorn  Рік тому +6

      No, I haven't found any list myself, and that's why I talk about the research that unlocks the Gauge for Tier 2 in the video. All I know currently are the following:
      Any space building: 1 Space Point
      Research Lab: 1 Space Point
      Crew Quarter: 1 Population Point
      Mess Hall: 1 Population & 1 Food Point (I believe - it MIGHT be 0.5 points to each - I am uncertain)
      Farm Main Building: 1 Food Point
      Farm Field (9 per Farm): 1 Food Point each
      Cell Housing (the housing built on walls): 5 Population Points
      Recycling Center: 1 Recycling Point
      Mushroom Farm (another wall building): 1 Recycling Point & 1 Food Point (again not 100% sure if it's 1 or 0.5 here)
      That's the one I am certain, or fairly certain, about so far. And I didn't have the time to go through the measures of doing all kinds of shenanigans to discover all the values, as that would have taken me hours. I felt the video was too important to get out, since so many people have asked about this, and then leave some of the research to the viewers. Additionally I am fairly certain there will be a written list of these points out within a few days - including the information I have provided in the video. I know many people prefer videos and voice explanation over reading a document, which is why I make guides like these - but for all those numbers, a text list is probably a much better format than in a video. 😊

    You said that some buildings count as more than one point. Are you referring to some of them having two different specializations or do some of them count as bonus points towards a single specialization?

    • @Caledorn
      @Caledorn  Рік тому +1

      Both, actually. But to give an example: In my research for the Population Tier 1 Specialisation (since I couldn't find any number anywhere on that), I discovered that a (Basic) Crew Quarter - the 3x3 version - gives 1 population point, while the Cell Housing - the 2x8 version you build on walls - gives 5 population points. I don't know if points is the correct term, but it was the best one I came up with at the time, and I guess it works so. So say you wanted to build a Sector specialised as Population Tier 1, you could build 7 Cell Housing for 35 points, and then 2 Crew Quarters and 1 Mess Hall - and that would give you the 38 points needed to unlock the Tier 1 Population Specialisation for that sector.

    i dont get the population specialization one. For example there are some huge buildings (16x2) that only cost 1 Population point, and there is also a house (3x3 size) that would also cost 1 point. Can you explain this please i am very confused, like does size of the building adds up more P points or is it all the same no matter how big they are?

    • @Caledorn
      @Caledorn  Рік тому +1

      I do not know the exact numbers. What I do know for a fact is that a regular Crew Quarter contributes 1 point, and that a Cell Housing contributes 5 points. I would make a guess and say that Optimized Quarters contributes 2 or maybe 3 points, and Domotic Quarters 3 or 4 points. Size of building is not always a factor, because a Waste Treatment plant only contributes 1 Recycling Point (also confirmed). So it depends on the category too... If someone figures out the numbers I'll add them as a response to the Pinned comment on the video 😊

      Wall cells are a necessary evil as you progress into the game and end up with thousands of non-workers. Domus are in my opinion always a better choice. So even if both contribute 1pt of pop, its... irrelevant. Wall space is premium real estate.

    one specialization per sector right? or can you have more?

  • @RH-ik1jw
    @RH-ik1jw Рік тому

    Nope. The space repair bonus does not stack. You can see how much it gives you when hovering over the hull health at the top while it is repairing. level 1 gives +10% and at level 2 it is just +20% total. Also either those food numbers are wrong or some buildings count for less than a point. I usually end up with 8-10 or so insect farms in a sector when first starting out because I need them until I can re-organize, yet I have never got a food spec from those.
    I know those count too because the first time I did get the food spec it was from placing an insect farm in a sector that already algae and crop and mushroom farms. I assumed you needed one of each type at least or something. However I have since got it without one, so it isn't variety that matters. So either 6 is not high enough for tier 1, or insect farms count for less than one point.

      It might not seem like a massive bonus, but when you have multiple huge buildings in a sector that requires 20-30 power each it actually is quite useful for space optimisation, since you can make do with building fewer batteries thanks to that bonus. Sure, it would have been nice if it also added say +10% production or something, but there's always the possibility of combining Recycling and Industry in one sector. I'm pondering how to do that and still have room for people. Happy people, preferably...

      I don't feel the DLS center is "not needed". It's flat out the best positive stability building you can build in a sector given the low worker and power requirements - especially with the tech upgrades to it. And you can even tear it down, and it's policies still apply. And without it you can't set policies - and policies are critically important. Especially the Waste one.
      But yes, to see your sector specialisation, and it's bonuses, you need a DLS Center (If you miss the tooltip. Edden will tell you in the Notifications that a sector has achieved specialisation).

    That awkward moment, when you finished a game, and now you see that there were POPULATION and RECYCLING specialization all along. I am sorry WHAT? Did i mentioned i finished it with TIER 1 only all across 6 sectors?
    In fact, i can just tell from seeing how it really supposed to work - that this entire system is broken beyond tier 1. No wonder i never got to tier 2 given the silly requirements for it. It's just too broken to be viable, did anyone tested this at all?
    Tier 2 space is the only one that worth it i think and apparently i was 1 building away from it. Tier 2 food? I don't care about stability, didn't even managed to build half buildings in game, because DLS and ALS were more than enough for all my needs for entire game. Population? What for? I finished it with over 5K people on board and there was no such need for silly specialization like that.
    It's clearly seems like a placeholder to me. Same goes for Recycling. In fact, recycling in itself is extremely broken and needs some tweaking for balance. And now you are telling me there was a specialization for it???
    It is clear to me that numbers required for tier 1 and 2 have to be tweaked.

    • @Caledorn
      @Caledorn  Рік тому

      I agree that the numbers need to be tweaked, for sure. And I'm pretty sure they will be too. Getting a sector to Pop Tier 2 (which is an awesome bonus with +1 stability from each stability building in the sector) is a very huge boost to a sector where you can end up with 3-4 thousand people. But it's too hard to get T2 Pop, as even with 40 Domotic Quarters, 3 Mess Halls, and the Monuments (which all counts towards population) I still remain at T1.
      Space Tier 1 is not that difficult though. 6 Space buildings + Tech Lab, and you've got it. And that's not an issue, since you want 3 or 4 EVA Airlocks anyways, so just stash them in the same sector, together with a science lab, a probe launcher and a docking bay for that sector - and you have Tier 2. Recycling is a wholly different beast, and I also agree it needs balance tweaking, given the amount of resources that are available to mine, and how Recycling can literally place you in a position where the only thing you need to mine is Hydrogen...

      UI is an unoptimized mess with little to no QoL features. They sadly didn't learned much from Frostpunk. The idea of 3 priorities is so stupid given the fact there are 6 sectors by design. I was constantly running into issues with logistics because of it, and i am sure you know it, because you ran into them as well.
