@@lg4759After Asafa and Usain came on the scene Jamaicans acted like there were no other athletes before them. There was Herb McKinley and Don Quarry before them. Jamaica like to discard people for the flavor of the now. When the next athlete comes along Usain and Asafa will be forgotten too. That's how Jamaicans are. They will throw out wood furniture for cheap formica.

I had a Nigerian, uber driver who claimed to be Jamaican. I asked him which parish in Jamaica he's from he said Christiana.
I wanted to laugh so badly. He was hiding his Nigerian identity and pretending to be Jamaican. How silly. I didn't tell him I'm Jamaican.

As a fellow Jamaican, I agree with Asafa Powell and Usain Bolt about Jamaicans expecting too much from the athletes, wanting them to be the best all the time. I remember having to constantly defend Elaine Thompson-Herah on social media when some Jamaicans were unfairly attacking her, especially her personality. They said she was mental, etc., all because she is more quiet and introverted-the opposite of Shelly Ann Fraser-Pryce and Shericka Jackson. Just let Elaine be who God created her to be. Watch how they will jump on the Elaine bandwagon again when she is back in full form… you all better believe Elaine is coming back strong. She is not done yet, like some of you claimed. Bolt was speaking truth… so disrespectful to be telling the man he was done. The same thing happened to Yohan Blake. Some of you are really ungrateful.

Well done @wodemaya your videos have moved into a different category, they are like documentaries. I can see that a lot more work is been put into their creation. Respect and love you for respecting your followers by always striving to give us excellent quality content.
We love Asafa and he is right Jamaicans are demanding but we were taught from primary school to aim for the sky and only our best is good enough. We are proud of all our athletes, win or loose they are representing Jamaica on at a global level.
So when people asked us what it is about Jamaica this tiny island on the map? We have a host of accomplished people that have inspired us. We know that hard work pays off in the end. Yes, some people will joke that Jamaicans work hard to insult us but we take it as a compliment because we believe the Almighty God when he said, 'by the sweat of your brow, you shall eat bread. #Onelove Jamaica

@@choolwemutelo5573, I’m curious to know; in school we were taught about the motherland and how we were brought from there to the Caribbean. Are kids taught about this in schools in Africa?

One thing for sure, I love my Jamaican people but we criticize each other too much, we have to show more love and respect for each other, the other nations can do it, what's wrong with us, Asafa I love and respect you for what you do for Jamaica, do not mind what people are saying, one thing for sure, it's very hard to please human beings, just do you, father God loves you forever

Thanks for this piece on the great Asafa Powell. It has brought into perspective the hard work, sacrifice and challenges that these top athletes have to endure in order to ascend to the top of the sport. All the best on your future endeavors, Asafa.

Very interesting and informative interview. I learnt a lot from this interview. I agree , as Jamaicans we need to appreciate, and love our athletes in great times, as well as not so great times.
I applaud Asafa for choosing to stay and train in the country, especially when he would have profited much more overseas.
..your health is definitely your wealth.!🇯🇲
