People forget but asafa is the one that started the present dynasty in jamaican sprinting...
Wow this was excellent ...so professionally done.....big up to wode maya and his production team for this ......
Asafa I am your auntie by loving your family always for u all one love .
@@anthonystewart7675 I know right!!
A lie…
These legends should be celebrated for their past glory and putting their country on the world map. Thanks for sharing his life. He seems to be very humble man 💕
They are...sad thing is. Not by their own.....after Usain came on the scene. They treated Safa like he didn't exist. Typical Jamaicans. But get this, they don't do it just to asafa..They done it to all the stars, all the people...
@@lg4759 lie yaaa tell
💯truth
@@lg4759After Asafa and Usain came on the scene Jamaicans acted like there were no other athletes before them. There was Herb McKinley and Don Quarry before them. Jamaica like to discard people for the flavor of the now. When the next athlete comes along Usain and Asafa will be forgotten too. That's how Jamaicans are. They will throw out wood furniture for cheap formica.
I had a Nigerian, uber driver who claimed to be Jamaican. I asked him which parish in Jamaica he's from he said Christiana.
I wanted to laugh so badly. He was hiding his Nigerian identity and pretending to be Jamaican. How silly. I didn't tell him I'm Jamaican.
This is a documentary worthy to be on mainstream tv, Netflix even. ❤
True!!
Agreed
Persons easily forgot ' that Asafa set the trend!
What trend?
No Herb Mckenly and Don Quary were before Asafa and Usain
@@terrencetaylor8196the first to stay in jamaica and produce the best, the other Jamaican atletes would trained overseas then represents jamaica

It wasn't u why we got that track..the track was a gift from Germany after Usain broke the world record in the 100 and 200m
Yeah mon Asafa the man who set it. He started the sub 10 record a icon and legend 👏🏿👏🏿🇯🇲
He's from my community. Asafa yard used to be full of cars. My mom and his mom are 6 cousins. My mom also used to work for them. His mom and dad is a pastor and own a church. Asafa is well brought up, respectful young man. Big up, Miss Joyce
The humbleness of Jamaican athletes is out of this world. These people are so respectful and 'class' doesn't exist in their minds. My all time favorite for Asafa Powel was Lausanne 2008 (9.72sec).
This guy is just so cool and humble
Extremely Humble
Asafa still remains my favorite male athlete of all-time. Big up King.
ASAFA AND WODE MAYA ARE THE TWO MOST HUMBLE LEGEND PERSONS ❤ WHO AGREES ?.?❤❤❤
"Stayed in Jamaica, trained in Jamaica" and went out to kick some ass. Powell sure did🔥🥰😊.
Bolt is great but Asafa is the most Elegant sprinter ever
Thank you for recognizing Asafa while he's alive. Jamaica has a reputation of recognizing great people when they are no longer here with us but great job wode maya! Keep up the good work!
To Everyone,if you're feeling down today remember this: life has it ups and downs,no matter how bad you feel for how long, you'll get better in the end🙌😍
This lagend is so humble 🎉🎉🎉 God should keep him going. Watching from GERMANY
Started not intending to watch everything but stayed all the way! Watching good people is worth while!
Am I the only one who thinks that the way Mistrudy summarizes how they met is very beautiful?
Jamaica may not celebrate him enough but the world does. Personally I’ve always thought of him as making athletics glamorous with his impeccable technique & looks! Wish he’d commentate at big meets actually. Great interview thanks❤
Jamaica celebrates him, that time he just got caught up in a few comments on UA-cam,but he eventually REALISE that Jamaica love him.
He is the favourite athlete of most Jamaican
So proud of Mr Powell.....he made Jamaicans proud
Asafa is a legend love from 🇬🇭 ghana

From Trinidad POS,Asafa we love you man Wodemaya thanks for letting me see Asafa and his family one love ❤❤❤
Hope to see you whenever you comes back to Trinidad POS 🇹🇹
As a fellow Jamaican, I agree with Asafa Powell and Usain Bolt about Jamaicans expecting too much from the athletes, wanting them to be the best all the time. I remember having to constantly defend Elaine Thompson-Herah on social media when some Jamaicans were unfairly attacking her, especially her personality. They said she was mental, etc., all because she is more quiet and introverted-the opposite of Shelly Ann Fraser-Pryce and Shericka Jackson. Just let Elaine be who God created her to be. Watch how they will jump on the Elaine bandwagon again when she is back in full form… you all better believe Elaine is coming back strong. She is not done yet, like some of you claimed. Bolt was speaking truth… so disrespectful to be telling the man he was done. The same thing happened to Yohan Blake. Some of you are really ungrateful.
You did Jamaica proud ❤❤❤
Big up u self Safa....real G. So humble yow....you first broke the 100-meter world record for Jamaica and unlike others, I will never forget.
This is beautiful! I’m so proud to be a Jamaican♥️♥️🔥🔥
Thank you WodeMaya for portraying Asafa and Jamaica in such a beautiful way! Asafa is so very humble ❤ and you can clearly see his love ❤️ for family and his wife! I learnt something else today about Asafa ;his Guinness book of World Record. Nuff respect Mr. Powell 🇯🇲!
Asafa. You are blessed. You worked hard and is still working hard to maintain your fitness standards. You really set a standard for the discipline with which you approach your work. I learnt so much about through Wode Maya's interview. You guys blend well and gets out the best in each other. May God bless you and your families. Thanks😂
Damn I used to watch him 10 years ago. He was one of the fastest 100 m sprinter
Asafa has a huge heart and a beautiful family ❤...
Love this video Wode Maya! Asafa Powell is the best! He's so humble and approachable. He's a legend! Our sub10 King! Love him ❤❤
When you see a masculine-looking guy but that is just genuinely a nice and humble person.
He is the kind of guy you want as a friend.
Asafa is a top guy!
Well done @wodemaya your videos have moved into a different category, they are like documentaries. I can see that a lot more work is been put into their creation. Respect and love you for respecting your followers by always striving to give us excellent quality content.
We love Asafa and he is right Jamaicans are demanding but we were taught from primary school to aim for the sky and only our best is good enough. We are proud of all our athletes, win or loose they are representing Jamaica on at a global level.
So when people asked us what it is about Jamaica this tiny island on the map? We have a host of accomplished people that have inspired us. We know that hard work pays off in the end. Yes, some people will joke that Jamaicans work hard to insult us but we take it as a compliment because we believe the Almighty God when he said, 'by the sweat of your brow, you shall eat bread. #Onelove Jamaica
One love, Asafa. Proud of you. Great yet humble athlete. A job well done. Jamaica appreciates you.
This man is definitely from the Ghanaian 🇬🇭 roots. Asafa a great Athlete love to watch him. One thing is even if another wins his is happy for them too.
Love Wode and Miss Trudy ❤❤❤
Wode Maya, I asked for this feature on the sub 10 king and you did not disappoint, thank you 🎉
Glad you like it!
The one and only Sub ten king!
We definitely love Asafa he is humble and kind and he is a good husband and father ❤
Thoroughly felt motivated by Asafa Powell. I feel he has a lot more about himself that he needs to share to empower future "Asafa's". He must write a book probably call it "97 reasons why". I will buy the first copy.
Awesome interview with a great man. Asafa is so humble.
Asafa i am happy to learn about your life as a athlete it is very interesting
I am still watching this video and I can’t stop laughing 😂 wode is so funny 😆 ❤
Imagine living in Jamaica and never saw bolt or asafa in real life
You never go the sports events. Money too little bit for some sadly ghats why people scale the stadium walls sometimes
This video is very engaging. I loved the quality of the editing. Asafa is such a humble guy. Kudos to him.

I used to watch Asafa when I was a kid. I really love this wonderful man ❤, how time flies. Thank you Maya for such an amazing content. Shout-out to the beautiful Mrs. Powell for making this happen. We are super proud of you guys 🇬🇭🔥🔥🔥

Asafa and Wode is so humble with their beautiful wives, great interview, respect.
Love from Canada beautiful black couples
Very humble guy , Mr Asafa Powel . Much respect to you.. That part with the name calling in Jamaica, it's the same here in Guyana 🇬🇾.
I really enjoyed this documentary. It was well put together and gave us the viewers to see Asafa Powell up close in his environment. I remember watching him before he retired along side Bolt and Blake. I still remember that race. He always appeared humble, calm and grounded. His wife seems sweet, I didn't know she lived in Ghana and Canada. Her accent sound more jamaican. What an amazing tribute!! I'm sure Asafa will appreciate this amazing video👌🏽.
You just met the great Asafa Powel? Count it as your greatest blessing
Wode Maya false started by about 2 seconds, obstructed and still lost to Asafa running at 25% effort 🤣. The ice bath shocks the body into regenerating itself as it feels it is a threat to life so regenerates more new cells that is why it assist athletes with muscle recovery after hard training.
Yas, keep doing what you do to bridge the gap between Africa and the African diaspora. I’m a Jamaican living in America and married to a Nigerian. Loving this movement!
Asafa running style, form and striding is truly poetry of motion. In fact many coaches would do well to study his races with their athletes.
Wode you should go to the sea islands on the coast of South Carolina & Georgia! Us Gullah Geechee are culturally Caribbean, but on the mainland. You would love it especially to make the connection for the Diaspora.
Asafa makes track and field exiting. Whenever Asafa has a good season, it's put everyone on their A game.
Coach Francis put it out into the universe and Asafa manifested it into existence. Powerful lesson for all. If we can think it, we can achieve it because we are our thoughts!!!
This is super super great and I knew you will do justice to this documentary on the great Asafa Powell
Breathtaking shots and very entertaining couldn't switch off
Asafa Powell is a powerful inspiration, very lovable dude. I love this dude
Being from the Caribbean and of African descent, I wish Africans would accept us as Africans living in the diaspora
Wi not begging them nothing..their father sold my father into slavery..
Yes you are an African living in the diaspora. Feel free to come and live or visit the mother land. You can visit Zambia
Already accepted...u r always welcome
@@choolwemutelo5573, thank you 🙏🏽.
@@choolwemutelo5573, I’m curious to know; in school we were taught about the motherland and how we were brought from there to the Caribbean. Are kids taught about this in schools in Africa?
One thing for sure, I love my Jamaican people but we criticize each other too much, we have to show more love and respect for each other, the other nations can do it, what's wrong with us, Asafa I love and respect you for what you do for Jamaica, do not mind what people are saying, one thing for sure, it's very hard to please human beings, just do you, father God loves you forever
Quality interview WODE. We love you Asafa!
❤️❤️❤️
Asafa us Jamaicans are proud of you 😊😊🇯🇲
God richly bless you from The Netherlands 🇳🇱
Thanks for this piece on the great Asafa Powell. It has brought into perspective the hard work, sacrifice and challenges that these top athletes have to endure in order to ascend to the top of the sport. All the best on your future endeavors, Asafa.
Very interesting and informative interview. I learnt a lot from this interview. I agree , as Jamaicans we need to appreciate, and love our athletes in great times, as well as not so great times.
I applaud Asafa for choosing to stay and train in the country, especially when he would have profited much more overseas.
..your health is definitely your wealth.!🇯🇲
Watching from Malawi 🇲🇼🇲🇼🇲🇼
I kept on smiling 😊 throughout this video.
