- I visited Aircraft Interiors Expo 2024 (AIX) in Hamburg. Many new inventions of aircraft seats and products are on display for the first time. Take a look at the full show recap.
The new conceptual MAYA from Collins Aerospace and Panasonic is a next-gen Business Class suite with full cinema experience. This immersive suite blows away previous inflight entertainment experiences as you can feel the movie with motion inside the suite.
Airline executives from Qatar Airways, Air France, and Cathay Pacific spoke and teased their upcoming new products including the new Qsuite 2.0, new La Premiere (Air France First Class), and Cathay Pacific's new Business Class; Aria Suite.
Next, the airspace cabins of A330neo and A321XLR are on display at Airbus. There is also new sustainable overhead bin cover and bulkhead divider design made of lighter recyclable materials. At Delta flight product, the cleverly designed wheelchair space allows wheelchair users to board and stay on the aircraft with their own wheelchair.
Boeing displays the full cabin mock-up of 777X and 787 and the “Perch” doorway creates a “third” space for passengers onboard. Aviointeriors; the seat manufacturer from Italy showcased their current mid-tier Economy seat MYA and Premium seat Plus. Stelia Aerospace has debuted a lightweight 65kg Business Class seat called Opera Essential which is mechanical without the heavy motor and screens.
Thales, the inflight entertainment company explained about future cabin connectivity and how streaming will be the future of inflight entertainment on aircraft. Starlink will install fast internet across the Qatar Airways fleet in the next 2 years.
On the amenities side, I visited Formia, to see the latest inflight amenities from Japan Airlines and American Airlines. Caynova highlighted their heating/cooling seat capability and finally, Chaise Lounge came up with another double-decker design focused on Premium Business Class.

As a regular middle class salaried man, I see that the rich folks are going to have a blast while the economy ones will be shoved with ridiculous concepts to make our journey even more difficult.

@@jamesm3471 lol wut? You alright bro?
Glad to see the aviation industry is looking for more efficient ways to stack up economy passengers like sardines in a can while simultaneously offering better and larger spaces for the business class. They are keeping up with what is going on on the ground.
Nothing like further promoting the division of classes in the air. 👍🏽
We're honestly at a point where I have to wonder if these economy class seats are breaking human rights violations. That legroom and general space is AWFUL
However good humor it is the only goodie which we, the economy people, can still use in plenty☺☺
You get what you pay for
@@dummynodepanda pretty sure biden administration and the zionist elites are behind it
Everything is quite impressive. The MAYA, Cathay Pacific's new layout, the ambience and the extra room on the A330neo, the handicapped accessibility 👌🏼, even the airline branded amenity kits are great, makes the experience extra special. I also love the idea of the perch for long haul flights, it is awesome.
I'm glad to hear that you had a positive experience with Cathay Pacific's new layout and amenities. The attention to detail and focus on comfort for all passengers, including those with disabilities, is commendable. The perch for long haul flights is definitely a unique and innovative idea. Happy travels!
Thank you for your kind words! We are thrilled to hear that you had such a positive experience with Cathay Pacific. We take pride in providing excellent service and amenities for all of our passengers, including those with special needs. We hope to continue to impress you on future flights.
Thank you for your positive feedback! We are thrilled that you enjoyed all the new features and amenities on our A330neo aircraft. We strive to provide our passengers with a top-notch experience, and we are glad to hear that we have succeeded in making your journey extra special. We look forward to welcoming you on board again soon!
I'm a cabin mechanic and this is eye candy for me❤
That maya seat is both a headache and money for mechs cause it’s gonna be breaking down so much and costing a fortune to repair.
“We’re thinking about GenZ and Gen Alpha clients” those m’fers can barely afford McDonald’s, let alone business class on these airlines. I’m so confused who these are for
for the rich people of course.. You know that we have a lot of rich folks?!
For the rest, horse stalls & straddles are provided.
Millennials are in their 40s now. Many of them work for companies who are paying for the tickets. People don't realize how small the % is of people who are actually PAYING full price for business class. Majority of the time it's a points upgrade or their work is paying....
The highborn and the corporate foot soldiers (and it's a concept they won't sell for quite so time, so they mean when people of those generations grow up and are sent on business travel or can afford it themselves). In the meantime just supereconomy flash sale vacations lol
Its for all the tech bros, overpaid silicon valley script kiddies, "musicians" and influencers
3:00 Being sooo close to such a massive screen for hours … wouldn’t really be my thing. But I get it, it’s just a concept. And pretty much the opposite of LH First, where the tiny monitor from the late 80s is like 25 meters away.
i mean nothing is stopping you from turning it off and using an ipad or something else instead
I agree, I love the seat design but not the screen
I feel like it’s gonna be for younger generations who are obsessed with screens. Heck even me. 😂
For me the in-built speakers are total nonsense. I will keep my noise-canceling headphones. Can’t stand the aircraft noise and the sound of the film my neighbor is watching for hours on end.
@@akjh6-98h-9nh indeed a weird choice to have speakers on an airplane seat.
First one looks cool, but a really don't need a massive screen so close to my face. Looks like they tried to make the space smaller to cram more passengers in.
In a movie theater the seats directly in front of the screen are the worst, so why copy this here?
And you are paying business class price for that too 😂 @@antjee
Thank you for the information about Aviointeriors. I will reach out to European airlines to explore the availability of these innovative seats for wheelchair users. Appreciate your support and good luck wishes!
Thank you for the information! I will definitely reach out to Molon Labe Seating and see how we can potentially collaborate with airlines in Europe. I am excited about the possibilities this breakthrough can bring for wheelchair users in civil aviation.
Yes, my point exactly. I bet they will increase the business class price and try to use the tech to justify
The coolest thing was the wrap around screen with the headphones hooked into the seat. I also loved the chair that can lower you and raise you just by tilting your weight. I really did not see wider seats until the end of the presentation, but having two people together is a great idea. Hey Sam, great hair cut, too!
2:24 This is definitely the coolest seat I've ever seen in my life, it's just WOW
Thank you for your support! We are committed to enhancing accessibility in aviation with Molon Labe Seating, creating inclusive travel options for wheelchair users. Together, we can make a difference.
Love your videos Sam!! Always something different! I admit I love traveling with you, but you do a good job of giving us a great variety. Very interesting and informative! Great Job by Sam and your entire crew!! Thanks so much!!
Very cool. Looking forward to anything that makes flying more comfortable. I feel there’s a lot of potential to improve the experience.
You saved the best till last! Utilising vertical space is innovative and will produce amazing designs. I don't need head room, I need leg room!
Double decker, integrated designs are the future!
If you combined that with the low weight structure company, and the low weight seat company (no wires or motors), surely that's a dream cabin.
I also think the idea of selecting items onscreen, within these pods, will save flight attendant 50% of their leg work. I'd like to see air travel return to a classy, calm, low light experience. Rather than the bright, screaming, bus like services prevalent today.

Sam, here Herman from The Netherlands. I must admit that the last feature, the doubledeck in businessclass give me the most reliable feeling for quick introduction. By the way, thanks for your extreme informative overview of this expo on Hamburg. Please continue this way !!
Absolutely incredible designs for PWD.

The double decker seats was epic
great idea for wheel chair users
Thank you for this great video. Great ideas, wonderful to see what is upcoming. I give Delta 5 stars for thinking of wheelchair accessibility, inclusion and comfort.
Wonderful Video, thanks a lot Sam!

Hey Sam awesome video ❤😊
Awesome.

Interesting video thank you 😁
Thank you Sam, awesome video like always.
Very nice video. Didn't know an expo existed for aircraft interiors!!!
@samchui I went to University with the Panasonic dude at 4:04 glad he is doing well
Cool stuff. I thought the mechanical seat by Elysium was pretty clever in regards to looking to the past for the innovations of the future.
I wish these were here NOW. Especially for long flights. I literally feel like I’m going crazy from restless leg syndrome. I have an upcoming flight to Brasil. Literally 23 hour flight. That’s the flight only 😢😢
Don't get rid of the A380!!!!!!
I understand that Sam is simply sharing the information that he encounters, and he does this quite well, but it is a little disheartening to see so many amenities and features designated for those of wealth and stature. I would love to see a thoughtful-and courageous-airline develop meaningfully better options for economy passengers.
Nice. Bottom line: more humans are going new places. Good for our species. The more we fly (or travel) the more human we become.
Nice that we can get there in intriguing and comfortable manners.
I prefer the glow in the dark amenities case. The Japan's art bag is 2nd.
One thing I learned from this for sure is that airline companies enhance their space utilization by giving the rich more space, while reducing space for economy class :D :D
Most of the airline profit comes from premium classes, unfortunately.
Nice 👍
Wow
"As long as there are no weight or safety issues, and the airlines can profit while customers value the product, it will be great."
The double-deck seats are interesting but his management of spaces is okay. He needs to consult material Architects. Engineers, Interior Designers, and space-oriented enthusiasts. He has changed space management in planes and every inch/millimeter of our universe. I like his idea. He's opened up a blank space that no one thought of. hope Architects are watching.
Very simple but EPIC.
future should be better seats to sit
Wait, did you cut out the interview of how is the stelia’s seat different with the other seats?
which expo qatar said they will be revealing their new interior 2months from now?
Watching this whilst on a KLM 787-10 😂
Crashing in Style and supreme comfort is the Nu Product spiel, love it.
Starlink ..... it needs to be on all aircraft and NOW not in 2 years or whatever. Also love the concept of heating or cooling of seat. Too often there is latent heat in the seat foam from last passenger .....I hate that!
How about the future economy class experience? Any idea and intention to improve it?
For business and first class cabin designs, i feel like Japanese airlines (ANA and JAL) present the best use of small space. Special ANA- simple, minimum, elegant. Very Japanese tea room concept.
1 ton just for wiring !!! 😮😮😮😮
I see most with a G seat number, so still a 2-3-2 config for most.
00:46 indeed Sam! I want to see airlines work harder to improve the passenger experience and to stop looking for ways to nickel and dime customers by squeezing them into smaller and smaller spaces. They make so much money now but most of the news I see from airlines are companies looking to cut costs and make it harder for people to have comfortable, safe journeys.
Isn't the headrest speakers already on A350-1000 on JAL?
What about screen mirroring from your phone/tablet to IFE?
I was wondering if any of these elements and configurations consider more calming effects to help mitigate some of the customer problems on us ca trier?
"The future passenger experience... if you have the money" - fixed the title for you. lol
3:00 Do I really need a 4K theater when I go on a flight? How about just more leg room and hip room/shoulder space so I'm not physically touching the guy next to me?
I am close to 6'7".
I refuse to fly economy class any more.
I used to try and vacation twice a year: Spring Break and Summer when I used Economy.
Now I save my money for Business Class since flying economy on international long hauls is painful.
So guess what: ONE OF THE AIRLINES WILL LOSE MONEY ON ME while the other GAINS ALL MY MONEY.
If they wanna cram us in their sardine cans, that's what they can expect from me and other customers who think like me.
yooo, its bobby lee
The only thing I care in aircraft is safety and comfort.
Maya is Sanskrit word which means Illusion .
"look at all the legroom in economy" well, looks like there goes our carry-on space from under the seat
The first cabin, Maya ( businesss i believe ) the screen is WAAAAAY too close to your face, especially for a screen that big.
达美航空很赞,期待更多的便民设施出现在民航客机上。
Maybe they could make an economy seat that doesn't recline till it's time to sleep and not as soon as people sit down 😂
Our next fly go to Valencia
Isn't the screen a bit close to the viewer in the Maya?
I got to sit in this seat. They didn't show it in the video, but you can scale down the movie to smaller sizes if you want. The distance to the screen is actually further away than your typical business class seat ironically (since the curve is away from you)
If airlines invested in this more aggressively, they wouldn’t be seeing profits halve YoY 😂
Will you be on the Emirates A350 inaugural flight?

How about try to improve economy class too?
Economy seats should just be like seat in cars, honestly I find the height of the seats quite uncomfortable
I'd be a bit nervous if Sam came to my booth....
Many of these ideas would be great for passenger trains.
Especially anything that gives you a private-like experience... Nightjet in Europe even has capsule beds for their sleeper services which is a concept that previous shows for aircraft seating exhibited...
Of all the innovations here, the one that struck me as most brilliant is the wheelchair-accessible seat. It's not just a matter of adding luxury - it would actually give people who currently can't fly or who have huge struggles due to accessibility issues the ability to fly in some comfort. (I do wonder if economy passengers would have to pay for two seats, but that's a question for the future.)
aside for it's intended use. I even see other added use. life if you can create a middle row where you can fold up the entire row during a long-haul (when not in use) you also have just extra room (convert a seat area to a corridor and back on the next leg of a flight)
I wonder about getting those wheelchairs down aisles, though.
@@darryljorden9177 - My dad had a small (portable?) wheelchair that looked to be about the size of the one in the demonstration. Wonder if the ones the airports use would work?
The wheelchair one takes up two seats. Not feasible for airlines unless the handicapped one pays for two seats which is unlikely.
I actually think it has been getting better for the economy class over the years- compare to the likes of the Titanic class days and how uncomfortable the economy class was back then.
Sam I wasn’t expecting about the breakthrough on civil aviation that would assist wheelchairs users. Please guide me on what company is manufacturing those seats so that I can approach airlines in Europe. As a disabled person I found it very hard when being lifted to and from the plane seat. Top marks!
I hope delta doesn't make passengers in a wheelchair pay for two seats.
Collins Aerospace
@@Robert-iv9oq thank you so much.
@@robkrauss👀
I wonder how they are going to put people there. Normally the aisles are very narrow, much narrower than a normal wheelchair.
2:40,
producer: how large you want the tv to be
Customer: yes
i mean, her mentioning gen z and gen alpha tells everything
Looks like an 34" LG OLED 21:9 panel. Interesting, since it's Panasonic's offering.
ngl.... if I'm travelling, I wouldn't want a screen on my face. Looks like my options will be cheaper!
that maya business class is beautiful
looks like a premium first class! never in my life would i expect business class to look like this, even if its nothing more than a concept.
Meanwhile they will make leg room more smaller for economy seats to make more room for premium class.
Mixing business and first class from behavioural point does introduce negative emotions for first class passengers and also does not incentivise business passengers to future upgrades to first class, as they are already in the “same” space with “same” service.
Being six feet five, the third space is my thing. Thats why i love 747s, even in economy back some years ago on klm flights you could hijack the stairs and do some lounging. Gone are those days and I hope on long flights they can accomodate some space for those persons who need to stand up from time to time.
I love all the different accents from the sales managers. French and Italian accents always make me happy.....
Which airline would you say has the best First Class suite for flying passengers ?
Incorporating extensions of the traditional over head Crew Rest Bunk into commercial Bespoke segment is just another idea
lets get space ships already... and for the love of god stop shrinking economy
Wow it was very interesting to see so many Future seats configuration
I'm glad you found the information about the breakthrough in civil aviation helpful. The company manufacturing the wheelchair-assist seats is Aviointeriors. You can contact them to inquire about their products and approach airlines in Europe to advocate for their implementation. Good luck!
The concept of MAYA from Collins Airspace is DOPE!! ..... In as much I love the speakers in the headrest ... don't you think it will be noisy if everyone in the business class ALL cranked up their volumes watching different movies or listening to music? ..... just asking. And the screen is too close for viewing. Try watching anything for 7hrs and you'll get the drift. Good to know its just a concept.
I am unsure but I would think that if they've put that much work into the seat, they would have addressed these issues. Something tells me those headrest speakers are able to operate at a level that is loud enough for the user to listen to the media but not loud enough that other passengers hear the media, instead hearing the engines (This may not work as well in economy). As for the screen, there are technologies that can be used to lower the effects of staring at a screen for 7 hours, its only a question of is they'll use them.
There would probably not be an option to crank up the power beyond what is reasonable.
I got to experience this demo live. The active noise cancelling is unreal. You can have the speakers blaring in the seat, but it's completely silent outside - it was wild. The movie can also be shrunk down, leaving the rest of surface for widgets, shopping, map, etc. Kinda like a Vision Pro without the headset. It was sick.
@@skinnerMTB Really appreciate the added information, truly future forward thinking here.
Good morning Sam, just want to tell you I love this video. The information and presentation of your videos are always a delight and very knowledgeable. Keep up the good work many thanks.
You're welcome! Good luck with your advocacy efforts. It's important to make travel more accessible for all. Let me know if you need any more assistance.
They only cares about the first class.
Idk about you guys. But if airlines offered business class seats without the service part at 50% the price it would be a hit!
The sure is not the future flight for 99.99% of us
How so? I want this ❤. Abstain for yourself..
I think the title should be future of expensive passenger experience🫠😝
youtube suggesting this to me to hurt my feelings 😂bro I never even gotten near an airport😢
I wish everyone would adopt ANA The Room for Business. Forget the trick just tons of room. Also we need a brand working on the bathroom size.
Sam are you going to be at the EAA Oshkosh air show this summer in July?
As a wheelchair user, I appreciate delta trying to accommodate
Having used Starlink at home, it really does provide fast internet all over the world that is faster than most home internet connections. No flying out of range of a satellite or anything else, this is a game changer for connected flights.
Used Starlink on a Hawaiian Airlines flight and it’s even faster than what I have at home! 4k streaming with no lag and it was on a domestic flight!
Interesting to see - the distance to Sam during the interviews. The Frenchman was particularly close/sympathetic.❤
I'm very hopeful for the mechanical, light-weight business class seats. Hopefully it will enable more no-frills 'business class' similar to ZipAir. I think alot of people want to travel on a budget, but would be willing to pay for a lay flat seat, even without the typical business class amenities.
