    Used to gather and make maple syrup with my cousins. And I always loved the sugar house when it got all steamed up. It always was a good time.

    Here at Blue Eye Maple Syrup and Strawberries we will not tap until Valentine day I would like my sugar content to be higher, right now just little over one! I hope to have it around two+ in Fed.Have a great Maple season!!

      Ever do a video on cleaning the tanks compared to silos? Confused on why one harder to clean then other. That might be summer time video…lol. Thank you for asking.

      Walk around the woods and share the sights, relate the sounds, mention the birds, and most importantly tell us about the sap trees as they also have a reality and history.

      I saw in another video where you were interviewed by Bar 7 Ranch that you mentioned your great grandfather’s old evaporator. I would be interested in seeing that. Keep up the good work and good luck with the new baby!

    Amazingly, there is that much sap coming out of the trees. Look forward to seeing everything in full operation. Take care of yourself would want to see you overdo it.

    You certainly have a great bunch of interested people because of the content and your smiling face. Please tell us about the trees and their history and legacy. For example, what are the oldest trees.Visualize what they have seen during the decades.what is their reality of being repeatedly tapped. How do the deer respond to tap lines?
    Doesn't the proper scientific name of the maple trees begin with Acer?
    Where is the chair so you can sit down and relax for a minute?

    Those silos are a sizeable investment in just material cost, let alone manufacturing and installation.

    Thanks for another great video. So much to learn about the maple syrup business. I haven’t heard you mention about tours of your facility but I presume you do tours. I live directly north of you in Kawartha Lakes Ontario Canada and would consider driving down to see your syrup production in real life. I grew up in Quebec and have seen many small maple syrup operations but nothing compared to your new building. Thanks for sharing a bit of info on your pregnancy always nice to see how it is going.

      We aren't open to the public and don't do tours as poor building is still under construction!

      Call Kennedy tank in Indianapolis IN. They build all kinds of specialty tank. If they don’t, they can tell you who does. Look them up on the internet.

    Very interesting video! There are a lot of small-medium scale maple syrup operations in my area around Georgian Bay, but I have never seen one with a silo.
    Do you plan to turn the open areas around the building into maple forest by planting, etc.?

      We just started using the silos about 5 years ago! We don’t plan on planting any maple trees as to be organic you need naturally growing forest with the various species native to the area!

      Yes there is. The main difference is that organic maple woods needs to keep diversified so you can’t log out all the other species of trees. There also has to be a buffer between the fields and woods. There’s other differences but those are the main ones

      It is used for washing and cleaning out all the equipment.

    How long does the raw sap keep before processing? I'm assuming spoilage is a thing?

      It spoils pretty quickly, that’s why we boil every night. How quickly it spoils depends on the outside temperature. We like to boil it all within 36-48 hours if it’s colder and as it warms up we boil it within 24 hours.

      we don't... 😂 we find out how much is in them when we fill our truck. Someday we would like to add sensors to each tank and to our sap truck so we will be able to check them!

      Ouch. They make simple floats for truck water tanks. We used them at our work. On large stable tanks we ran a float line out the top, around a bicycle rim with weight on end. It the weight was getting knee high it might rain on ya soon…lol

      No, that would make the sap spoil! We boil everyday that the sap runs so it doesn't have a chance to freeze!

    I had the same problem with my Carhartt coveralls. I blame it on the washer and dryer shrinking my coveralls, because I was not pregnant, I just looked that way.?!?! You could turn those wooden spools into tables. You would just have to notch a few out for pregnant women to sit or stand at. (Ha!Ha!)

      we don't have a problem with them freezing as the sap never sits long enough to freeze.

      When my great grandpa made maple syrup it was in a shanty and the name just always stuck. Now it feels weird trying to call it anything different

    All the white plumbing you showed going to and from the stainless steel silos, is that pvc piping or is that insulation on the pipes? Please don’t let that little one freeze, get a coat you can zip up! Lol!
